Sid Owen who plays Ricky Butcher, has several appearances much later on in the series as a Limousine owner.

The secretary at 11:42 is Tina Mahon, who is best known as Ronnie Birtles in Grange Hill (1985-1991). Patsy Palmer was also in Grange Hill as an extra though her character was called Natasha before she had her big break in EastEnders.
Another GH alumnus in Lee MacDonald (aka Zammo Maguire). Just say no.

Poor Bob Cryer never had much luck with shooting related incidents throughout his career. He was closely involved with the failed attempt to talk down a gun man who then got shot by Galloway and co in series 2. Then this incident happened, which also left its mark on him. And finally his career was ended by Smithy when he accidentally shot him in the School hostage episode in 2001.

It's strange how he was the main character, and then he kind of became the side character in that eventually a background character.

@@London_J Cryer was an old school copper who was perfect for the old “Bill” but once the show turned into a soap opera they needed younger and prettier characters.

Sergeant Cryer did what any authorised firearms officer had to do, if an officer is confronted with an offender who is armed with a firearm or any weapon and is willing to use it against the officer or any of the officer’s colleagues, then the officer has no choice but to shoot to put the offender down.
The way Sergeant Cryer aimed for the offender’s upper torso is standard in police training of firearms use to stop an armed offender and the most important thing to remember for officers being trained in firearms is the first shot fired by the officer doesn’t always put the offender down.
Until the offender is down on the ground, they’re still a threat, the second or even a third shot might be enough to stop the offender.
And the feeling that Sergeant Cryer afterwards is normal for any officer who had to make the decision to use his firearm to stop an offender, no officer goes to work thinking they are going to use their firearm on to stop an offender in the course of their duty.
