Another tip for False Promise: - A ticking Vessel, Urn or Salve will NOT be dispelled when used on a target under False Promise. Having a spare Salve for False Promise in the early game can be a gamechanger even with the nerf to using it on other people. - Axe is not able to Chop through False Promise if you are above the HP threshhold on cast. So be sure to Promise early against Axe. - AA Ult will not prevent Healing during False Promise if it wears off before False Promise ends. If you are too low HP before the cast however, you will still shatter.
As a corollary, you can also grief your teammate by casting False Promise on them with their HP below the Axe chop threshold or AA shatter threshold, preventing their HP from rising above the threshold due to other sources of regen, thereby giving Axe or AA a kill that he otherwise wouldn't have. Fun!
I played oracle for the first time yesterday and really enjoyed it but knew I needed to deep dive on this hero. Coincidentally this is recommended to me today. Killin’ it my guy, please keep up your good work, it’s seriously helpful, I subbed to you after your CM video and I will attribute my mmr climb to them!!
Here are some heroes I didn't quite understand how some of their spells work: Undying second spell (Soul rip), Shadow Demon second spell (Disseminate) Bounty Hunter ultimate (Track) how does the gold bonus really works? And Earth spirit ultimate (Magnetize)
From my understanding of Shadow Demon's Disseminate is that you can cast it on an ally or enemy. Whatever amount of damage that affected hero receives, every enemy hero in the area around the Disseminated unit will also receive a portion/percentage of that damage. Yes, this works well with an ally Huskar, too as he has a lot of self-inflicted damage which can be spread onto surrounding enemy heroes when he's jumping into a fight.
As for Earth Spirit's Magnetize, he basically puts a debuff on all enemy heroes in an area that deals damage over time. The max duration of it is 6 seconds but, as with his other abilities, also works in conjunction with his Stone Remnant wherein if an affected enemy hero gets close to a Stone Remnant, the remnant "explodes" and refreshes the duration of Magnetize. As the Stone Remnant "explodes" it will get destroyed, but you can keep putting more remnants to constantly refresh the duration. I find Magnetize's damage to be quite minimal, but another good thing about it is that whenever at least one affected enemy hero is also under the influence of Earth Spirit's other spells (Slow from Boulder Smash, Stun from Rolling Boulder?, Silence from Geomagnetic Grip), if there are other heroes affected by Magnetize, they all get Slowed/Silenced as well. Not sure about Rolling Boulder's stun though, might be a bit OP if all of the Magnetized heroes will get stunned.
The first three are quite simple: Soul Rip: Heals an ally or damages an enemy. Heals/damages for more the more units there are in an area. Takes a small amount of hp from everyone of those units but isnt important. Disseminate: Places a buff on the target. A % of all damage the target takes, is sent out to nearby enemies. If the target is an enemy, they are hit with this same extra damage. Track: Every hero allied with bh receives bonus gold when they're in a certain radius of the track target if it dies. Bh gets more gold. Magnetize: Debuffs all enemies in a nearby aoe with a damage over time effect. If an enemy with the debuff walks near a stone remnant, the remnant is destroyed and the dot is refreshed. When this occurs, if the target is slowed or silenced by your other spells, that same slow or silence is spread to all enemies with your mangetize debuff
Borrowed time does actually convert it to healing, Borrowed time in general is one of the few abilities in the game that actually treat HP removal tagged damage as a normal damage.
@@mistypeaks1375 It goes through everything, only Aeon disk seems to protect target from damage, for reasons that escape me. Btw every damage is able to pierce BKB, spell immunity is protection against spell effect to which damage is tied on, you nullify spell and therefore damage doesn't even arrive. Previously spell immunity also granted 100% magic resistance but latter part has been decoupled from this effect a long time ago.

Magnetize would be an amazing next video. A) Some people think there's aoe damage from the aoe visual, there isn't, the visual is if it hits another remnant. B) if one unit under magnetize gets silenced/slowed from earth spirits other abilities, ALL magnetized units get silenced/slowed. C) magnetized remnants can still be used by earth spirit, before they break. D) this is one im not even sure about, but it spreading is weird. Sometimes, it spreads no issue, sometimes you cast your ult, and nothing happens. Would be interesting to see what you can come up with
The aoe of Magnetize is small. but the aoe of recharge with stone is quit big becuz of that good ES players will Magnetize an enemy and instantly put another stone between them and other enemy and use that stone to silence all of them
@@MrMikopi It's not that difficult. The initial cast range is super tiny, so you have to be standing next to the hero, meaning you gotta roll onto him. Then the timer starts, and gets refreshed everytime the enemy hero is near a stone: you can place on next to him, you can kick/pull one towards him, or he could walk to an exisiting stone on the map. The magnetize only jumps from hero to hero if there is a stone between the heroes. Obvsiouly if you are standing next to several heroes, and theyre all right on your ass, magnetize will apply to every enemy hero once you cast it.
I love this series you are making. One correction: the piercing spell immunity is a non-factor. It clears stuns because it is a HARD DISPEL. Abaddon and Legion commander are similar examples that can clear stuns.

Ok so this video explains something quite important: Purifying Flames cannot kill an ally, but it can drop them to 1hp. If you False Promise an ally, and then cast Purifying flames (without Fate's Edict) on them, it will take 4.5 seconds before the heal is greater than the damage. So any PF you cast while there's more than 4.5 seconds left on the duration is always a net positive. BUT in that final 4.5 second window it's more complicated: If you False Promise an ally, and in the last few seconds of the duration you cast PF on them. That will drop their "simulated" health pool to 1. If no more enemies hit them, then they will survive and benefit from the healing. But if a single enemy attack deals damage after the PF damage then it will kill them from 1hp. So as Oracle, you can only spam PF on your ally in the first half of the duration, and then in the last 4.5 seconds only if you're sure that the enemy won't hit them after you do. (Or use Fate's Edict to disarm them if they're not fighting)
6:10 but Lina wasn't the one to deal enough damage to bring Ursa's health to 0. She only did enough to bring it to -22 from 46, so down to 24. Bounty Hunter was the one to deal enough damage to take him to 0... Going into negative results doesn't mean that's what made Ursa die, it just means it's what started making False Promise deal damage rather than heal.
This explains that one time I false promised a Huskar at low hp, put a bunch of heals on him as he continues fighting, orb above him turns fire red with cracks on the side but he is still healed to full HP at the end of the spell.
you forgot or didn't know about 1 more feature which is sometimes oracle's teammates can deny when false promise ends and idk how they do it either but never looked it up tbh.
Another tip for False Promise: - because damage is received at the end of the duration only buffs that are present at the end are counted. Use Glimmer Cape at the end to reduce damage taken. - since damage is applied at the end in single instance, Borrowed Time will not trigger by itself, but will transfer this damage into heal if used manually.
Interesting is also that you shouldnt use PF(lvl4) in the last 5 seconds of FP. 360-25%mr=270 || 44hps*2=88 || 88*3 seconds=264 so PF takes 4 ticks in FP to amortize itself +1 second for the first healtick to happen otherwise you will add onto the damage if used without FE.
u mustn't heal allies using PF without huge mag res anyways, in that case, u better damage enemies with PF if you wanna use the edict later or it's on cd, imo, but if it's bladefury jugg, bkb, you ballin.
Hey i didn't understood something at 5:58, could you clarify it if not difficult please ? So the sum of healing is 230, with the negative -22, without taking into account the last shuriken, the ursa will be damaged by false promise for 22, but he have 46 hp, so he wouldn't die, but if so then why does the kill goes to Lina and not Bh? You said Lina brought the hp of Ursa to 0, but in reality Lina brought up the heal sum to 0, and without the next damage instance of Bh, Ursa would have lived. Then the kill goes to whoever brought the heal sum to 0, even if later damage instances killed the hero rather than the one that canceled the heal sum. You haven't mentioned this in your video, but i may be utterly wrong, please correct me if so, and explain if not difficult again, how it really works. Or am i the right one here ? (god let it be me :D)
I never realized that the attack that brought the "figurative" health to 0 was rewarded with the kill. Very interesting. I almost never have Oracles in my game so I never got much chance to notice anything weird.
Yeah, this still doesn't make sense to me because objectively speaking it was Bounty Hunter's damage that killed the Ursa. He had 46 HP in addition to the 230 healing from false promise so Lina literally wouldn't have killed Ursa if BH didn't shuriken a final time...
Furthermore, this leads to the interesting scenario (which has literally happened in my games before) where Oracle can be awarded a deny on the ally hero if they die from the effects of false promise and it was Oracle's purifying flames that dealt the critical instance of damage that offsets the healing.
Amazing contents. Thanks. False Promise does heal or does damage information is veryo good. I enlightenmented. It explains Winter Curse, False Promise deny interaction.
Damn, by watching this video gives me an understanding on how the amounts of lines of codes needed to properly execute this, no wonder why balancing tends to be difficult. It's basic math maybe but like, damn.
Would you consider to cover the difference between damage, healing and direct HP change (like Ice Blast debuff which is, iirc, not really dealing damage but rather just removing HP, or Time Walk which doesn't heal you but straight-up sets your HP back on previous value). There is a surprising amount of abilities which are not considered by DOTA as healing/damaging but they look like they are, at face value
Also any buffs or debuffs to the heal (such as ice blast, spirit vessel or holy locket) seems to only matter when false promise resolves and not when the heal is cast.
Would be good to know how other factors affect the ult. For example, Ursa ult mitigates damage. If it is used during oracle ult, does it reduce the total incoming damage at that point? Or does it only mitigate damage at the end calculation of oracle's ult? What about spirit vessel from an enemy - does it reduce healing from all sources during the ult duration, or does it only reduce the heal at the end calculation of oracle's ult?
Hey man my friend showed me this channel and its pretty cool. I know a buncha my dota folks would be down to watch more so Im hoping to keep finding cool stuff. for a video suggestion can you explain Tiny's Aghs sceptre? tree grab range and aoe calcs thanks!
Also: fate's edict magical immunity blocks magical damage when damage is received, but does not blocks, when false promise ends so you need to use it during of the duration of false promise
6:02 as you say later, -22 is sum of all damage and healing but Ursa has 46 HP at the start of false promise which means he wouldn't die without last shuriken toss. Killing blow is dealt by BH so why does it credit Lina with the kill? I recreated this in demo mode and got the same results. Looked into combat log for answers but damage numbers there don't make any sense, it shows BH dealing 15 dmg and then Lina dealing 49 dmg. Any idea why that is?
You mentioned damage is counted for killing blow, but in second example, killing blow was from bounty shuriken, because after lina´s spells, there was -22 and ursa had 47 life. But when false promise ended, kill was counted to lina
Not seeing it near the top so I'll tell you how the orb above the head worked on Oracle's release before it broke. The orb would go between being a Sun or Moon depending on how much damage or healing the unit would receive at the end of the duration. The fiery orb we see now is the only thing left from this mechanic and used to indicate very high damage would be taken.
There's a lot more niche things with false promise, like being unable to cheat death with almost every spell in the game, besides shallow grave :) Health transfers like sunder too isn't affected by it and axe cull still kills your ally. Btw his worst matchup js against AA
there is a weird interaction between false promise and aeon disk 1 - if 1 hero damage you during it , aeon disk will proc and normally . 2 - if 2 heroes or more damage you during it , aeon disk will proc anyway and you will receive damage .
6:12 you are wrong. Lina's damage instance did NOT bring ursa's health to 0. Bounty did. Ursa had 46 health, and at the end of Lina's spells and beginning of BH's last spell, 22 dmg is applied to ursa's 46 hp, meaning he is still not dead. BH is the one that finished the job. Yet Lina got the kill? Explain that please
As a Grandmaster Oracle, let me add interesting facts above all that other's had comments regarding to using Refresher orb and refresh the duration of False Promise. Pre Update early last year, the interaction of stacking another False Promise on a targetted allies will Remove all damage and heal from the previous False promise. This is OP and can ensure 100% survivability even when the damage taken post False Promise should have killed your ally. Now, stacking another False Promise on top of another, will refresh the duration, remove the healing obtained BUT retain the damage taken from the previous False Promise. This is a big nerf and there is very little reason for an Oracle to grab a refresher now.
you could just say, that orb doesnt take heal amp into account, but i guess seeing it all in game does help, as an oracle spammer i can say, that you can heal into ult with just 1 purifying flame as if you didnt damage with it, but 2 flames leave the health after the ult the same as before and only heal after the ult, also lvl 1 fate edict allows to cast 2 purifying flames exactly only if you use quickcasts and dont spend any time turning towards a teammate, it is most efficient to just purge disables with the ult, or to make puny damage dealer or control people live extra seconds like with wk scepter, or to heal spell lifestealers with fate edict, or to let satanic do all the healing
It's best with a low health Huskar, but if you use it when he have lots of hp, his hp will get stuck so he won't get atk spd and regen from his passive.
the hero affected by false promise sometimes get denied , I don't know how it really happen in real game but you can recreate it demo mode by removing (not killing) the hero who delivered killing blow. If you have any information about it , it would be appreciated
The who gets the kill part is seems to be inaccurate in wiki. Here's what i found in demo mode. Bring a hero to very low hp and cast false promise, hit the hero with an enemy just enough to kill him, then heal a bunch and dish out damage with different enemy. This should give the kill to 2nd enemy as per wiki but it gives it to the first each time i try this out in demo. If anyone has an explanation let me know.
Would love a video about rupture and pucks’s phase shift. Sometimes you take damage, sometimes you dont. If I recall I’ve seen people move no problem while being ruptured. And for time if you got grabbed by primal beast while ruptured you took insane damage (I think they patched this one, not 100% sure)
If not mistaken, there's a movement units (distance) threshold upon which damage is applied. If affected hero is displaced above this threshold, no damage is dealt. I think it was abused before with qop blink and spell cast range increase
The very first thing you said about piercing spell immunity is wrong. It means that it goes thru BKB, just like the enemies spells. (For example old omniknight couldn't heal a target with spell immunity). What purges them is the strong dispell.
Another tip for False Promise:
- A ticking Vessel, Urn or Salve will NOT be dispelled when used on a target under False Promise. Having a spare Salve for False Promise in the early game can be a gamechanger even with the nerf to using it on other people.

What about voids time walk health regain with false promise?
@@TheWeecheng i don't know if it would double heal, since it's not actually healing you just reverting your hp
These are the types of experiments I was expecting to see in this video. sigh

Really great breakdown of Oracle's False Promise. Thank you for the informative video.
Thank you! :3
Ok so this video explains something quite important:
Purifying Flames cannot kill an ally, but it can drop them to 1hp.
If you False Promise an ally, and then cast Purifying flames (without Fate's Edict) on them, it will take 4.5 seconds before the heal is greater than the damage. So any PF you cast while there's more than 4.5 seconds left on the duration is always a net positive. BUT in that final 4.5 second window it's more complicated:
If you False Promise an ally, and in the last few seconds of the duration you cast PF on them.
Thats exactly what i was gonna ask, thanks a lot!
w is much good now you cant disarm your allies they changed it

Keep em coming, Great videos teaching valuable knowledge in a great way :D
Thank you :)
Thank you for another amazing explanation video. You have just earned a new subscription!
Easy sub and like for each of these vids. And I don't do either very often!!
Can't wait for the next one!
Thank you so much!
This explains that one time I false promised a Huskar at low hp, put a bunch of heals on him as he continues fighting, orb above him turns fire red with cracks on the side but he is still healed to full HP at the end of the spell.
orb visuals doesn't take hp regen into account, that's why such heroes as Huskar might have red orb way more often?
you forgot or didn't know about 1 more feature which is sometimes oracle's teammates can deny when false promise ends and idk how they do it either but never looked it up tbh.
This will help players to be good mechanically. Appreciate this a lot!
Another tip for False Promise:
- because damage is received at the end of the duration only buffs that are present at the end are counted.
Keep it up mate, you're gonna get lots of views.
Your videos reminds me of my engineering lectures but in a good fun way. Hope to get my diploma in dotaterminology from you. More like these please.
Thanks!
Thank you 4 interesting video! It was really useful
loving these videos! Keep going!
Great content! Would love to see more! Much much more!
ty man i thought dota wiki 100% true about the red orb but you amazed me wich make me a fan from the first video
Thank you so much, very appreciated!
We need more of this
Amazing contents.
Please do Lich's Chain Frost! I'm a Lich spammer. Love these videos!
Would love to see a video about how Dazzle's new ult works and how best to use it
Just spam it for reduction cd skills lul
We need an elder titan version. Some people still don't get how Natural Order works and how his ulti works.
No way? A new new zzADRiANzz explanation just dropped?? And it is about my favourite hero??? Thanks for your work!
Actually insanely helpful and I at least understand what I'm looking at now lmao
Great video bro, really aprecciate the effort in those, keep it up.
If any of these viewers put this much effort to their studies or work, we would have thrived as a humans.
Ahh... A fellow oracle main... The orb thing was a bit new to me... Thanks
this is a great content bro, this is really usefull even for a pro player and team
We need more of this! I guess... items?
Would be good to know how other factors affect the ult. For example, Ursa ult mitigates damage. If it is used during oracle ult, does it reduce the total incoming damage at that point? Or does it only mitigate damage at the end calculation of oracle's ult? What about spirit vessel from an enemy - does it reduce healing from all sources during the ult duration, or does it only reduce the heal at the end calculation of oracle's ult?
It is the former for both examples.
Keep making these!!
Will do! :)
great vids bro, I wish to know things about reaper scythe, mainly the % of current hp for me to fire up the ult
Keep up the great work! 👍
I also didn't understand why that happened
Not seeing it near the top so I'll tell you how the orb above the head worked on Oracle's release before it broke.
The orb would go between being a Sun or Moon depending on how much damage or healing the unit would receive at the end of the duration.
The fiery orb we see now is the only thing left from this mechanic and used to indicate very high damage would be taken.
There's a lot more niche things with false promise, like being unable to cheat death with almost every spell in the game, besides shallow grave :)
Health transfers like sunder too isn't affected by it and axe cull still kills your ally. Btw his worst matchup js against AA
there is a weird interaction between false promise and aeon disk
1 - if 1 hero damage you during it , aeon disk will proc and normally .
2 - if 2 heroes or more damage you during it , aeon disk will proc anyway and you will receive damage .
I wish i was this focused during math class back then
6:12 you are wrong.
Awesome content. I'd love to see the explanation for Nature Wrath (NP's ult). Never fully understood the best place to click and trigger this spell.
Can you do a video for OD ultimate? Thanks!
Awesome video, keep them coming
Great review to a very tough hero to play but
It's best with a low health Huskar, but if you use it when he have lots of hp, his hp will get stuck so he won't get atk spd and regen from his passive.
I just instinctively know that if the hero died on false promise
I always wonderd how does armlet work with this? if you keep armlet on during the false promise do you still lose hp that isnt lethal?
Need more of this man
the hero affected by false promise sometimes get denied , I don't know how it really happen in real game but you can recreate it demo mode by removing (not killing) the hero who delivered killing blow.
If you have any information about it , it would be appreciated
such a cool explanation 🥺🥺
Nullifier cancels false promise?
up, deserve more sub.
1 question. does lifesteal counts as heal?
Superb explanation

If so, then False Promise on Huskar & Timber would be monstrous:0
