  • Let's face it. There are lots of impressive coders out there; many of them inspire us with their profound mastery of languages while others are able to simply blow our minds with the stuff they've created using code. But if there was ever a programmer who could be everything from a controversial social butterfly to an expert on some of the most critical issues concerning our planet, nobody deserves that title more than Elon Musk.

With all DUE respect, i think people like Elon , Bill Gates , Larry Elison ,Jeff Bezos are not top notch programmers or software developers. They are Businessmen. If you want to talk top notch, mention the people who invented C++ , c# ,JAVA , Python ... and Jeffrey Wang the DAX guy among others

Who the fuck was criticizing for using C and C++ for the purpose they were intended for?
Meanwhile there are companies that still use Fortran and COBOL.

Yep! And there are still a lot of business using COBOL as the main data management in banking, insurances, payment system, credit cards, stock market. People only see the front end interface in their browser, ATM or else.

How much reliant is java in today's world #Behind The Code for Backend Development. I still am working in java and I am very used to it, but it is very tempting for me to use Python as many say it saves a lot of time learning, larger community using Python and is also good for the technical interview for less verbose. Let me know more about this on which one would you suggest going with Java or Python ??

    • @behind_the_code

Hi, I would say both, it is always good to know more than one language. Python is pretty easy to learn so if you are familiar with Java just take the shot and learn Python as well.

You can switch to Kotlin if you want. It's like the true heir of Java. It run in the JVM and is retrocompatible with the Java libraries. It's more consise than Java and can use multiple paradigms (OOP, FP for instance)

    0:20
than Elon Musk since he is such an
    0:22
    attractive subject for conversation
    0:23
today's video will focus on musk's
    0:25
    journey into programming his emergence
    0:27
as a business leader and the individual
    0:29
languages that some of his companies
    Early Life
    0:31
rely on Elon Musk as a programmer born
    0:33
on 28th of June 1971 to a South African
    0:36
father and a Canadian mother Elon Musk
    0:38
started out as an introverted child his
    0:40
interest in books and the resulting
    0:42
isolation from the stuff that attracted
    0:44
his peers made him a target of bullying
    0:46
till he was 15. at age 10 his parents
    0:48
Errol and Maine musk got a divorce
    0:50
musk's Tendencies to lose himself in
    0:52
    Daydreams about inventions and
    0:54
    revolutionary discoveries were so
    0:56
worrying to his parents that they made
    0:58
him see an ear doctor at 10 he learned
    1:00
programming on his first computer a
    1:01
Commodore vic-20 it was a disc that he
    1:04
trained himself to use basic and by age
    1:06
12 he had designed a functional video
    1:07
game called blastar he sold blast star
    1:10
for a total of 500 to a computer
    1:11
magazine this marked the beginning of
    1:13
    Elon musk's entry into entrepreneurship
    1:15
together with his brother Kimmel he once
    1:17
planned to open a games arcade close to
    1:19
his school but his parents were quick to
    1:21
Snuff out the idea when he was 17 young
    1:23
musk decided to move to Canada to escape
    1:25
    mandatory military service under the
    1:27
apathite regime he also did this to
    1:29
secure U.S citizenship with ease and
    1:31
    access better economic opportunities he
    1:33
    transferred from Queen's University in
    1:35
Canada to the University of Pennsylvania
    1:36
where he majored in physics and
    1:38
economics afterwards he commenced a PhD
    1:41
in energy physics at Stanford University
    1:43
but did a u-turn two days after the
    1:45
program started musk had done two
    1:47
    internships there already was inspired
    1:49
by the growing boom in Silicon Valley
    1:50
and was determined to pursue something
    1:52
in Tech instead in 1995 he started his
    1:55
    company zip2 with fifteen thousand
    1:56
dollars and the support of his brother
    1:58
    Kimmel zip-enabled newspapers develop
    2:00
online City Guides and was later
    2:02
acquired by Compaq for more than 300
    2:04
million dollars musk utilized this money
    2:06
in the creation of x.com a financial
    2:09
    technology establishment in 1999 a
    2:11
    subsequent merger between this company
    2:13
and a rival called confinity resulted in
    2:15
what we now know as PayPal since the
    2:17
payment giant was acquired by eBay for
    2:19
one and a half billion dollars musk has
    Basic
    2:22
gone on to revolutionary companies like
    2:23
Tesla SpaceX Solar City and has been
    2:26
    recently embroiled in a pitched
    2:28
controversy over Twitter now let's talk
    2:29
    about his programming languages the
    2:31
first thing you of course want to know
    2:33
is whether basic is the golden language
    2:34
that our video title might seem to
    2:36
suggest well basic is not entirely out
    2:38
of Vogue today it has seen a lot of
    2:40
    iterations and developments that have
    2:42
transformed it into a stepping stone to
    2:43
    more advanced programming languages it
    2:45
is also well regarded because it is easy
    2:47
to learn but is it the best programming
    2:49
language to learn in 2023 musk doesn't
    2:51
seem to think so the entrepreneur has
    2:53
    progress to mastering new languages
    2:55
since the time he learned basic with his
    2:57
    computer's workbook Tesla Tesla combines
    Tesla
    2:59
a variety of languages in designing its
    3:02
electric vehicles these include C C plus
    3:04
    plus python JavaScript Ruby PHP
    3:07
typescript and SQL each of these
    3:09
    languages play important roles in
    3:11
    different segments for manufacturing for
    3:13
instance python which is most widely
    3:15
used at Tesla is a great tool for
    3:17
machine learning on the other hand CNC
    3:19
plus are older but highly efficient
    3:21
programs that can be used in optimizing
    3:23
software JavaScript Ruby and PHP are
    3:25
deployed in roles that involve web
    3:27
    development and application design while
    3:29
SQL is leveraged for database management
    3:31
SpaceX projects at SpaceX required that
    SpaceX
    3:34
the company use super efficient and
    3:36
reliable software for this purpose it
    3:38
got CNC plus plus these languages enable
    3:40
    systems to handle the extremely
    3:42
demanding nature of space Maneuvers the
    3:44
sea Brothers if you like are very
    3:46
powerful scalable and can manage memory
    3:48
efficiently right after them is python
    3:50
which the company uses for testing its
    3:52
    systems everything from its inbuilt
    3:54
libraries to its ease of use are reasons
    3:56
why SpaceX adopted this language you
    3:58
will also find programs like labview and
    3:59
Linux both have been used in its dragon
    4:02
and Falcon spacecrafts extras you might
    4:04
want to learn if you're aspiring to work
    4:05
at SpaceX include HTML CSS and
    4:08
    JavaScript whose web development
    4:09
attributes make them valuable in systems
    4:12
    Graphics design neuralink finally we
    Neurolink
    4:14
have neurolink a musk project that
    4:16
intends to help people with neurological
    4:18
    injuries operate digital devices once
    4:20
again CNC plus Bliss are the choice
    4:22
languages in this realm although musk
    4:24
has faced criticism for using these
    4:25
older languages they were chosen for
    4:27
    their robustness and portability to
    4:29
different platforms this is where it all
    4:31
gets funny Elon Musk does not seem to
    4:33
use one language instead he uses several
    4:35
    for different purposes there are
    4:36
    numerous speculations on the internet
    4:38
about which is his actual favorite with
    4:40
some arguing that it is python well in
    4:42
response to a question on Twitter the
    4:44
    billionaire personally stated that he
    4:46
prefers C but if you would like to

java is better to learn how to program correctly, the only way to use it is function programming which the most used paradigm in programming
python looks a lot easier to understand but it's multi-paradigm so it's easy to learn it incorrectly, especially with its very simple syntax
be sure to keep in mind python is used in a lot more domains than java and it's actually the richest language when it comes to third-party libraries you can use tho
however if you know java it will be pretty easy to use python for the future

@@thinkingspace3438 Java isn't using the OOP (Object oriented programing) paradigm? For me, Scala is the One using The FP (Functionnal programming). You can also see kotlin, who is much modern and much simpler than Java. Both Scala and kotlin are retro compatible with Java libraries and run in the JVM (Java virtual machine)
