      @ItalianBrownsFAN how is he dumb? Who in the right mind would be putting this much stress on karambits which are meant specifically for self defense.

    I like cold steel and have quite a few of their axes, machetes and smaller fixed blades, used to have an 80's voyager tanto with serrations (that i lost while out hunting) and i know how strong the locks are, but i also have one of those fox kerambits and it's nice to see how well they hold up.

    Does anyone know the factory edge angle for the Steel Tiger Karambit (fixed blade, not the folder)?
    I own several now, and I've been utilizing 40 degree (20 each side) for the first Steel Tiger. But the recently purchased Steel Tiger (2nd one) came bit dull compared to the first one I got. I am thinking about keeping the factory edge on this second one (for comparison purpose). If not, I might give the 30 degree (15 degree each side) angle a try, just to see how it would handle vs. my 40 degree version.
    Anyway, for those who own one, what are your preference of an angle when it comes down to touching up/ sharpening your Steel Tiger?
    P.S. I've read few comments here and there about how some people changed their mind on getting a different brand due to the plastic ring/handle on the Steel Tiger. In my experience, I've bashed the side of my go-kart twice with mine and the plastic held up just fine. The plastic is fairly durable than what some may assume.

    Emerson is the most expensive one on their test and for half the price you can purchase tiger claw.
    my top two favorite is Fox knives and Cold steel. I do own fox 479, fox 599 xt and Cold steel tiger claw serrated. they're the best in my opinion

    God damn it, yet another knife I cant really afford that I'm still going to buy XD
    Btw, any chance of you guys trying your hands at the multitool market at some point?
    You guys pretty much made a copy or new take on every single category out there, would be fun as hell to have a multitool I could abuse to the level that I can with coldsteel products, leatherman tools are tough no doubt, but not comparable.

    Why is the blade so straight? Also, why did you design the pocket opening with that angle? It might catch clothes a bit too much and stop your opening motion.
    I didn't see the results yet but I have a Fox and a Bastinelli Mako Folder (I know, technicaly not a karambit). I like the pronounced curve of the fox for some purpose and the straightness of the bastinelly for other, it seems that yours is in the middle. In that case I hope it is best of both worlds and not useless at both, I'll know when I buy it :p

    I'm a big fan of Cold Steel and own many fixed blades and folders. I also love karambits and own the Tiger Claw folder and Steel Tiger fixed. My only complaint is that the Tiger Claw is just too damn big. I have heard from others in the knife community that you will be redesigning the Tiger Claw. Is this true and if so would you be willing to go the extra mile and get input from people in the Filipinio Martial Arts community? I really want a folding karambit with this Triad Locking mechanism and durability that comes only from Cold Steel.

    I like how alot of coldsteel knives use the emerson wave

  • @SCabanlitProductions

    Nice comparison! I think that the 1st test was a bit biased because you seem to angle your wrist directly down onto the rope and cut it with a quick, high pressure motion on the last cut. Personally, I go with the Fox due to its durability and its ergonomics. The Tiger claw I would use for more of a utility tool or in situations where more stress is needed.
    I am not surprise with Emerson outcome because I believe the hype is in the name. Not surprised that spyderco didnt hold up in spine wack test, as it is a much thinner and smaller blade.

    • @alexanderward7195
      @alexanderward7195 5 лет назад

      SCabanlitProductions It’s a thinner, shorter blade, but it’s still expected to handle similar situations for LEO and military use, last I checked.

    Man I really want that Tiger Claw, but its a liltte out of my price range at $200. So I got the next best thing the Steel Tiger (Stone Washed) instead for $62. Which is also bad ass.

    Its kinda funny in the knives world, many people will either like Cold Steel or really hate Cold Steel. For me, I love Cold Steel products. I used to collect only fixed blades of other brands but now i do have around 6 folders all from Cold Steel after just 2 months?! I guess those who hate Cold Steel probably 2 reasons which somehow I can understand. 1. They dislike the arrogant boss.
    2. The way they market their products with those videos like slash pigs, chopping dunno what animal corpse and their boxes states, Performance Knives and World Sharpest knives. I got to agree Cold Steel both produce good blades and out of the boxes, pretty sharp but its not right to mention sharpest as these discriminates all other brands. Eg. You are a car lover cum collector. Then one car brand keeps advertise the good of the brand car while discriminates the other brand by performances by some realistic way. But collectors dont like to hear bad things about what they like. So my conclusion, dont lost Cold Steel as part of your collection in blades just becos of tbe boss/the way they market their products as long that particular blade from Cold Steel u like is good. Love knives as hobbies but not discriminate knives by/from people..Cheers everyone

    These kinds of comparisons are entirely fair and unbiased. Thank you for bringing us the "cold hard facts" Andrew! Now, I just know that there will always be some of the "Cloud Walkers" out there who think that they know everything in the world of Martial Arts weaponry and will proffer up their unique brand of "insight", regardless of the facts..... But, one has to know, every circus has its clowns....

      Kkjae 720 Their Wave opening feature is great, but it doesn’t mean they can do the rest correctly. Hell, Cold Steel had their “quillion” opener you see here a few years before the Wave. Lynn Thompson just didn’t make a big deal about it, since it should be a feature on every tactical knife.

    The tigerclaw probably has a custom edge and the others have a factory edge

    • @OceanKing6725
      @OceanKing6725 7 лет назад +1

      I doubt it. Cold Steel are know for their good factory edges.
      The reason it handled the rope so well has to do more with blade length and width. It's taller and thinner grind coupled with longer blade makes short work of the rope compared to the shorter blade and thicker ground competition.
