What I what to say first of all- emo I associate more with a style. Some “emos” do wear all black but I agree with you don’t make it all black.
But if you’re trying to make someone in deep depression. I would think they would either stop caring about style. They don’t even care anymore. Or they’re trying to be stylish because they want to be cool, or they are stuck in the popular group. Depression can be in anyone, jocks, nerds, popular kids, etc.

Name: Poppy Sunn
Backstory: Her grandmother was creating a welcome home meal while Poppy was born. Poppy was taken into recovery and testing while the rest of the family went home. While the grandmother was cooking eggs on the stove, Poppy got upset. suddenly the stove fire flared up and began to spread through the kitchen. The grandmother couldn't get out because she didn't have her walking stick, so she died. Nothing like this has happened until Poppy was born. This resulted in everyone in the family hating Poppy and being toxic to her. But then one day she gets fire powers. And blows up her father and siblings but not her mom because the mom secretly loved her. But then a soldier comes to the house and says that Poppy is a fire princess or something. The end! Also her grandma is like a goddess or something and that's why she has powers.

Usually I go by real life logic and make their eyes yellow WHEN THEIR ADULTS. The reason why I do this is because when wolves grow older, their eyes turn from whatever color their eyes were before into yellow.

Pink (more of a red color) eyes are the cause of albinism, neon orange/golden eyes are known as amber eyes (and are probably just an offset brown), and purple/deep blue eyes are just normal blue eyes. (but light reflects differently to them)
Also, vampires, fairies, mermaids, sirens, witches, human-animal hybrids, angels, demons (I'm talking of angels and demons who haven't died, but were born like that.) nephalems, etc. (I could go on all day if I wanted to.) are all magical, (mythical, but mythology has a LOT of magic in it) but CAN be killed. There is no immortality in my book. I like fantasy a lot and change characteristics of creatures so they're more human-like, but you can have your opinions as well.
Sorry for all the parenthesis and examples. I just had to rant.

One opinion on how to improve a OC is to not use the same color pallet on all of the clothing.Try to experiment with different colors so u can make an interesting character which doesn’t always stick to three colors.This is just my opinion :)

I was one of those cute kids, I wore pigtails nearly everyday in second grade.
I was an obediant kid, although I did piano, swimming, and gymnastics.
I never got in trouble at school (accept for forgetting to do my “lexia” which was what the pre-k - second graders did. sometimes forgot to do homework haha)
I pretty much never complained. I was doing this iready thing for an hour a day. 45 minutes for math, 25 minutes for reading. Iready for science and social studies are non existent.
Wish I was like that now.

although u can use neon colors for small details like eyes but to make it look decent with neon eyes or bright eyes make the hair and color of the clothings match perfectly with the eyes and even clothes u can put neon bu not to much but using a bit dark colors it looks decent and dosent hurt ur eyes and u can also add neon colors to ur accessorys BUT dont over do it becuz it just makes it bad

Ok, about the tragic backstory part, you usually give your baby characters that you love to bits the mos tragic backstory's ever because you love them, a l o t(I usually do this too much in my Danganronpa fan-fics. qwq).

Name: The only things you could name a baby appearance-wise would have something to do with their skin or eye color. Obviously if there was a girl born with blue eyes and named Aqua, she may want to dye her hair blue, if it was black or brown or something else that isn't blonde, or blonde to fit her name better. One trick I have is to make characters from certain places, such as Japan or Germany for example, and then look up popular names from that place for that sex. So for example, if your character is Chinese and a girl, you could look up "Popular Chinese girl names" and pick something off that list to name your character. Obviously you don't have to do this, but it's a technique I find useful.
Hair: Before you choose a hairstyle, think about your character's personality and how you interpret hairstyles. Find a good mix and you'll have a good hairstyle.

Im making a gc mini movie rn so feel free to drop some tips but the main character is named Kate. She has water powers (but its not special in her world, everyone has powers) and likes a guy named Ash, who ironically, is a fire type. Kate and Ash have been best friends for so many years, yet Ash is slightly scared of her. Why? He was always told as a child Water types would hurt him, and met Kate before knowing she was water type. She never revealed her powers until they were seven, on accident. They split apart for a few years, and didn't talk for a while. Kate longed to see Ash again, she was always rather lonely without him. He was her best and only friend. They finally meet again in Kate's new school, and some girl they dont know, named Olive, of course, likes Ash. Smoke and Mirrors happens, yada yada yada, and Kate is faced with possible death. If you didnt guess it, Olive is grass type, and grass powers can easily kill a water type.
Wont spoil the rest, but heres some flaws, personalities, etc
Kate:
Likes drawing, Has a fear of grass types for the pure reason of them hurting her accidentally or not, yet her grass type friend was slowly helping her, then smoke and mirrors happens yada yada (lol) and falls back to being afraid of grass types.
Realizing i dont have the patience for this rn, ill update it later, feel free to give me tips and stuff lol
