Awesome to hear you getting started :-)
Maybe turn your face over so it will be a smile face!
Nice video buddy
😞😊lol
Nice video Roy. Hope this will help out some new smiths. What ever you need don’t hesitate to call. Stay safe in these trying times.
Thank you for making them sir!
Great looking tongs Rex!
Thank you for sharing this info. God bless
God bless
Great vid as always. Lighting is a little dark though maybe lights weren't all on.
All the lights and then some where on it's just the compromise to get the steel to a visible heat on camera.
Came out good Roy, bit dark in there but looks good those tongs.
I have several pairs of RX tongs. Much easier than making from scratch for a light duty tong. They are really reasonably priced and work well. However if you need a heavy duty tong these are not the ones.
Nicely done Roy,l have missed the last few live streams, l have been really busy, we were in Ottawa for 1 week.Stay safe and keep distance between other people.
Good Afternoon Roy
Good afternoon to you :-)
Hi Roy!
Hello :-)
Looks comparable to the tongs that I got from Ken's custom iron a couple of years ago, before I heard of these guys, as always good video!
Curious how these compare to kens custom ironwork tong blanks
I like how you adjust the raines with the bending fork. The tool to clamp around the rivets is very handy
I've watched so many tong forging videos but never get tired to watch another and they are all slightly differant in some way. Thanks Roy and TX for the contribution
hi
I guess aligning the reins vertically makes them left-handed and right-handed tongs.
Could be :-)
OK, tongs for right handlers are held in the left hand. I think ordinarily right handed tongs have the left rein to the left. That allows your fingers to push the rein into your palm. If it is the other way, the fingers push the rein toward the base of the palm, which is more awkward. Other tong blank manufacturers address this by telling you which direction to twist the jaws for right or left. By aligning the reins vertically over each other, this distinction is lost, but you lose part of the advantage of pushing the rein into the middle of your palm. I will quit now before this gets even more confusing, if that is possible!
@@glenndarilek520 Agreed. I was expecting him to twist the jaws counter-clockwise since he is right-hand dominant and would hold the tongs in the left hand... Twisting counterclockwise aligns the reigns so they fall into your left palm instead of wanting to roll out. I think by twisting the reins to center them, they are less prone to rolling.

Good. The falling out of your hand is a factor I did not consider.
I was just about to comment about how these appear to be right hand tongs for left-handed smiths. Regardless, I really like the bending and alignment tool for the reins!
Wow that is awesome.
Thank you
You made it look easy!
Wow. I can't make a pair from scratch for what these guys charge. Thanks for the demo and the information. Forge On!
Thought you were rounding the reins off not drawing them out!
Great review and tutorial combined! Thanks for sharing and God Bless you guys!
Thanks for watching!
That was fun to watch.one day in the near future I will be able to set my forge up ,as my shop collapsed while I was working out of state.the only thing I have to find is an anvil .I really enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for the inspiration. Keep on forging
Spread the reins a bit.
Don't drill, drift em.
In the video, Roy clarified that he prefers to drill for accuracy. It is his shop. He can choose his method.
My personal preference is to drift small and then drill it out to full size. I learned the technique from John Switzer of Black Bear Forge. It combines the best of both methods.
