I watched til the end! I love Basil, he's MY Sherlock, so seeing hm in other movies is such a treat and this was a good one. Im picky about musicals but this one will be saved in my playlist. The ending was beautiful . Bobby and the "mom" had beautiful voices. They don't make movies like this anymore...sigh. Thank you for posting such a gem!
Basil Rathbone was my very first favorite classic actor - and I still love him. Even in light fluff like this, he gives a sincere and polished performance.
To me, he was always more interesting than Errol Flynn! My whole life, I like a man with a nose. The last 30 years or so it seems to me what they say is a "leading man" is more and more "pug-nosed."
In the early to mid 1930s Basil Rathbone was being cast often in romantic roles due to his good looks, height, and terrific voice. I heard a radio interview with an adult Bobby Breen in the early 1980s. He was performing on the senior circuit in Florida. A very humble and unpretentious man recalling his early days as a major child singing star.
Basil RAtahbone can not only sing, but play the piano VERY well. He considered becoming an opera singer before becoming an actor. Plus he was an olympic standard fencer, and spoke several languages. Dstinguished military service. Renaissance man! (Did I mention that he was related to the Russian royal family?)
What a wonderful movie! Basil was such a talented actor! A sweet and wonderful ending to this story. The singing was superb. Thank You so much for sharing this gem of a movie.
WOW, what a wonderful movie. I really liked Basil Rathbone in this one. And young Bobby Breen is a marvel. Pure delight all the way through. We need more romance in our lives. Thank you PizzaFlix for another great movie. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do.
There is an Interview from 2002 in which Bobby Breen called Rathbone, despite often typecasted as the villian, as the nicest man he worked with in Hollywood.
Thank God when the days of my childhood were full of energy & freedom. Even though my up-bringing was strict & maybe not as physically loving as I had needed, at least we could put our trust (a symbol of love) in each other ~ from friends, family & neighbors! It’s hard to believe that a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ (with THE hand shake) was all it took to seal an agreement!
I know what you mean about the physically loving. But one thing for sure, you could depend on your family and friends and yes, even strangers. This country, this world today is crumbling before our eyes. The truth is a lie and a lie becomes a truth. I`m glad I`m on my way out.
I'm crying again PizzaFix!! What a wonderful movie, I have decided I will ONLY watch your movies, they are picked with such caring and a wide range of themes. Thank you so much again my friend, your biggest fan~ Robin
Ich habe Basil Rathbone nun schon in so vielen verschiedenen Rollen gesehen. Er ist einfach wundervoll. Doch in dieser Rolle ist er DER TRAUMMANN, I REALLY LOVE HIM🥰 THANK YOU, BASIL ❣👍🌹✨
Bobby Breen was a great child actor and what an angelic voice. This was super enjoyable. Had never seen Basil Rathbone in a role like this before. Thanks PizzaFlix.
Camp days are still with us.My grandson goes to Boys Camp in Northern Wisconsin.Lakes, sailing, horseback riding, hiking, bon fires to sing around in the evening. No cell phones allowed My grandson is13 and is still enjoying summer life just like this. J D McLeane
Once upon a time movie was made where adults loved kids? Where they were unafraid to say the word God were happy and loved each other? Where it was fun and safe growing up and being a kid and loving nature? No according to the liberal news It was full of racism hatred crime and terrorism!
I can remember Boy Scout summer camps that were like this movie We were patriotic respected ea others opinions helped ea other just like the scouts code Brave clean reverent :::::: forgot the rest Then when my dad took us to national parks we met the nicest people ever always willing to help and so compassionate I wish my grandkids could experience that upbringing I’m afraid they are losing an important lesson in life!

There was no racism in the 1930s? The Ku Klux Klan, the agent of white supremacy, experienced a rebirth in the 1920s that continued into the 1930s. Lynching of blacks also occurred in the 1930s

I could hardly believe my ears when Bobby Breen began singing SOPRANO! Heavenly; a voice like an angel.

So cute and sweet! A refreshing role for Rathbone. Darling mother and son duets!

It takes an Englishman
What a heart-warming movie. 1st film I've seen of Bobby Breen: angelic voice. Always really liked Basil.

What a great musical movie! The singing is very sincere and unaffected. Basil Rathbone is his charming self and Bobby Breen, the singer, is excellent!
Oh the eyes ... Basil Rathbone ... and Bobby Breen's voice beautiful
Gorgeous Basil rathbone ❤️ nice to see him in a role where he's not playing the sinister villain
❤what a lively music..Chip stole the show👏👏👏
My dear Dad was this age in 1937 :). God bless him.

My first landlord was like that...a shake of the hand & the deal was done.
I realize I am pretty off topic but do anyone know of a good website to stream new movies online ?
What a cute kid. And Sir Basil is so handsome and a 1937 hunk of a man!
What a beautiful voice the boy has
Wonderful, just wonderful!

Good people were not the ones who decided that movies like this were corny.
Good people were not the ones who decided it was wrong to report a crime.
I don't believe I've ever heard a child singer with vibrato.
Yeah, I know its a movie, but this IS who we were then...
Basil soon got to know the mum. They hadn't met yet were suddenly they are in the boat with their tongues hanging out.
I thought it was going to be too corny. It wasn't!
Are you sure this wasn't a Disney production?
Enjoyed it!
47:24 You can't see the strings coz they're in the kitchen

I do agree with you except for the last curse.

Dont blame it on the liberals, it's the new world order!
👍🏻
This movie didn't have enough deaf black lesbians in wheelchairs.
Sorry, can't take the movie. But I'll take the mail truck at 19:57.

Basil Rathbone
Can’t even act away his creepiness
Seriously…Do you NOT see here the similarities with the 'HitLar jugend'?…Wake up friends here…For The Love of your GOD!…🙄💥🤔😧
What are you talking about?
