Today, June 2, 2023, I honor such a remarkable man who his likes are sorely lacking today. 😢⚾️🙏🏽
To me, Gehrig is the greatest Yankee player EVER!! Class, work ethic, humbleness, positive attitude, caring individual, and a complete example to follow! I am not a Yankees fan. But Gehrig is the best man to ever don the pinstripes uniform, EVER!
Great player and a great human being
I watch Pride of the Yankees every time it comes on a real tear jerker.
My grandpa had season tickets to the Yankees from 1922-1940 10 rows up from 1st base. When we used to go to yankee games in the early 70’s he would tell me about Ruth and Gehrig. How before the game the players would talk to the fans and sign autographs. No disrespect. Just very welcoming. His favorite was Gehrig and he shared so many memories of games played. It was awesome. I was very lucky to experience that.
I have similar memories going to Wrigley with my grandfather and sitting in his seats on the 3rd base side. Cherished memories!
Your grandpa was the man!
This video truly was well done! Thank for this awesome presentation.
The true meaning of a humble man. A dying man stating that he was the luckiest man on the face of the earth. #4 forever.
Wow! What a great video. Thanks for sharing. Bought tears to my eyes. If Lou Gehrig isn't the most humble and courageous athlete of all time, then I don't know who is.
He was a great athlete.
Yep.
But a better human being.
Very well done.
As a lifelong Yankees fan, and in particular, Lou Gehrig...thank you.
When Lou took sick, they x-rayed his hands. The doctors saw 17 healed fractures he'd endured as a player.
I literally looked and searched for this vid months later after remembering how great it was... Thank you!
I recommend watching Yankeeography Pinstripe legends.
I have admired Lou Gerhig since I first watched Pride of the Yankees decades ago as a kid. He is my hero.
Yes, a class act all the way. Gehrig and Bart Starr are my all time favorite athletes,
Yes, I love that movie! Gary Cooper did a WONDERFUL job in playing the Iron Horse! 👍
I have been a Yankeeholic fanatic all my life, and I know even Yankee fans will not agree with this statement, but Henry Lou Gehrig is the greatest Yankee of all time period!
They made his birthday a national holiday.
It should be called Louteenth.
Lou Gherig is the most gorgeous man that ever lived
He was a man whose humility inspired other men, his team mates, to be better. As we used to say on the playground "Play with the goods, you play LIKE the goods".
superb video, it is a shame that it only has 350 views
Thank you for your kind words.
What. Story, this just what you need if you are feeling down.
I’m bawling.
Hittingin front ir back of Ruth he certainly was, frigin RBI machine
I would wonder how long his consecutive game streak would have gone had he never gotten ALS. He for sure would've joined the 500 homer club.
He was only 7 away from 500 so I’d say he would’ve been the only other person at the time to get 600 on top of 3,000 hits and 2500 RBIs
Cal would later play the most consecutive games
True. Cal also had the good fortune not to contract a fatal disease.
Wow, no kidding. Good grief.
Hitting in front ir vack
The greatest first baseman of all time.
Ironically, Gehrig's illness and death obscured his stunning baseball career. If he played till he was 39-40, his stats would be phenomenal. Hell, they are anyway!
When Gehrig took himself out of the lineup in Detroit... Wally Pipp was in the stands.
Ouch. Well, given the circumstances, I doubt he was all that angry about it.
