    Hi! You have been such an inspiration...when planning this year's Bible School I realized I needed decorations and needed to be cheap! I stepped out of my comfort zone after watching you and made several decorations....deer laying in brush, moose bust that will be strategically placed as though he is peering over a hill, dog, mountain lion, skunk, and turtle...not to mention some rocks, boulders, and rock faces. I'm uploading them so that others who may need to be inspired for a project will step out too! Thanks so much!!!

    I can hardly wait to see the rest of this. :) I love raccoons and used to be a volunteer to help trap and relocate problem raccoons. I used to have them in my bedroom sometimes until I could release them. :D In a pet crate of course since they were wild but I was able to feed them by hand while they were with me.
    I can say that tail does seem a bit long for the body size you created. Only raccoon I have ever seen with a tail that long was a huge old raccoon. He must have weighed about 40 pounds at least and had a really long tail.

    I am finding that the blue toweling even though saturated with the cornflour glue, lifts up when dry. What could I be doing wrong?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  2 года назад

      You probably aren't doing anything wrong. I didn't like using the cornflour paste myself, although it did eventually work. You might prefer to use just plain newspaper and the normal flour and water paste instead.

    Do you use 1 inch grid for the armature in cardboard?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  2 года назад

      Yes, but you can use any size grid you want. With 1" squares he comes out about 17" long.

    Hi Jonni, me again. When I watched you before I went and bought a case of Elmer's glue, but unfortunately I accidentally didn't get the glue all. I have since been run over by a car and trips to and from the store are very difficult for me. Is there something I can add to the regular glue or will it be ok to just use the regular?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  6 лет назад +1

      I'm really sorry about the accident - I hope you heal up soon. As for the glue, if it's a PVA glue, it will work just fine. I don't know if Elmer's school glue will work, but you could try it. A simple test will let you know if your glue is OK - just mix a tablespoon of the glue with a tablespoon of the premixed joint compound. If they stay thin, it's good. If it thickens up and becomes even rubbery, it won't work.

    Did you ever make a standing tall bear with teeth showing?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  4 года назад +1

      I've never made a standing bear. And I almost never show the teeth. It would be too stressful to have a house full of aggressive or angry animals. I know some people like that sort of thing, but I prefer calm, happy critters.🙂

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  4 года назад +1

      For the very last outside layer I used a mixture of PVA Glue and Drywall Joint Compound. No exact recipe is needed.

    You have done a brilliant job! I have watched the whole process and your presentation drives me to make some as added attraction for my kids treehouse , I know its made up of paper but is there a way that you can make it waterproof/weatherproof?

    • @UltimatePaperMache
      @UltimatePaperMache  7 лет назад +1

      I have never found a way to make paper mache, in any of it's forms, waterproof. However, I recently started working with Apoxie Sculpt and Magic Sculpt and Free Form Sculpt, all different brands of epoxy clay. You can use it instead of the paper mache, i a very thin film, so it doesn't cost all that much. And it's waterproof. My squirrel has been outside since I made him, in rain and snow, and he's still doing just fine. I think the epoxy clay is the way to go for outdoor sculpture.
