What are y'all talking about? The defense was not the issue against the Packers last year, At least not in the last game. The issue was the offense. That defense held them to 17 points. That's good enough to win most games when you have a competent offense. But the offense was only able to muster nine points. That's not actually on eberflus, that was on Luke Getsy and Fields. Thankfully they're both gone now.

Defense was good enough to be competitive last year. Offense was sorely lacking.
I have no confidence in a stadium deal 5 years from now they'll probably still be playing at soldier Field

Fields was already a better passer than Williams _in_ college as seeing them side by side proves. Those would all be INTs in the NFL. They only completed because the college defenses gave up on the plays.
Even when not being pressured by any defenders Caleb is off-target *by miles a **_LOT!_* On the other hand Fields places the ball short by inches a couple of times only, turning what might have been YAC plays into immediate tackles.
Fields continued this great accuracy in the NFL. Nothing. Which is strange when you consider that if he makes the mistake of trading a franchise QB away, it can haunt *or **_end_* his career. He should _really_ have been concerned when the team *returned to the play-calling Fields called them out for* & resumed playing like crap the rest of the season.
But he said nothing.
Ousting Fields was The Plan from the get-go. Eberflus agreed which is why he was hired over the more qualified other candidates. Eberflus cancelled those effective plays twice (again in '23) & allowed Getsty to improve the offense in '22 only because he couldn't handle the questions media refused to stop asking him _about_ his play-calling & in '23 only because he was busy acclimating their new DC.

They could have gotten WAY more for the #1 pick & kept the QB who could out-perform Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson & Aaron Rodgers. So enjoy your 6th or 4th-rounder & your "not that bad" GM who ousted what might be a top-5 QB simply because as GM he decided he wanted to oust him. Me, I'm gonna enjoy these two inept play-callers frustrate the heck out of their own offense & fan base.
Waldron had been shown by Dave Canales how to resurrect Geno Smith with only 2 reliable receivers. Waldron got Jake Bobo, Zach Charbonnnet & JSN added to those 2 & did less with way more. Now he's got less than that to work with in CHI.
