You’ve sold me on the Ilford jacket! I recommend Noodlehead’s Sandhill sling bag. Carrie from Thread Theory sent me over to your channel, glad she did.
Just went to Goldhawk road this weekend and wow it’s amazing but also very overwhelming. Well done you for only getting 2 fabrics!! I too went to the remnant spot upstairs I. Misan. Such beautiful things!!
Just found you. Great vlog. Your husband’s jacket is fabulous. I am the same with buttonholes and hold my breath. I have been making the Sussex Seamstress new jacket pattern, a great sew. Already quilted fabric from 1st for Fabrics. Happy New Year from Jersey Channel Islands.
Hi, thanks so much for watching. Buttonholes can be a real pain sometimes. Enjoy making up the jacket, quilted fabric will be lovely and cosy. Happy new year 🎉
Oh thank you for speaking about the button hole debacles!I thought it was just me. I hold my breath for every-one. I practiced and all is fine...but then, my machine is Touchy! And I do all of mine vertical too because of the exact same reasons. I feel so validated. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and thoughts. And your beautiful makes❤
What a delightful channel! Your makes look fabulous and professional! I made a Santa suit for my hubby. He likes to dress up for all the grandchildren every year and distribute their gifts that way. He's been struggling along with a cheap suit we purchased several years ago. It is quite short for him. Now he has a luxurious stretch velvet suit that better fits his height.
I was sure I had replied to your message, youtube studio seems to be different to RUclips app sometimes...Thanks so much for subscribing Rachel. The sunshine jeans aren't the easiest of makes and I'm definitely not there with the fit yet.... x
Your husband's jacket looks great! I love the colour and it looks so cosy. Goldhawk Road fabric shopping is such an adventure. If it helps, I find brocade an absolute nightmare to work with, so I think you dodged a bullet there. 😅
Its nice to see you again! Your husband's jacket is great and what a good idea to line it in fleece. Buttonholes can be evil but yours look really great. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make out of the fabric from your shopping trip, as you have some nice pieces there and who doesn't like a remnant.
Your husband’s jacket looks fabulous. My husband would probably love one of those. Great job! I have a difficult time with buttons on my machine especially thick fabric. Hopefully I will have a new one in January. Fingers crossed 😊
Wow two wonderful makes! They both look so well crafted. The green fabric for the jacket is absolutely beautiful and I’m sure your husband is absolutely in love with it. I hold my breath when I’m making button holes too. Adam’s jacket had 9 holes and I just about died lol. Our sewing machines definitely have personalities….no doubt about it. I’m excited to see what you make out of your new fabric. The colorful striped cotton lawn is so fun!
Thanks Erin. 9 buttonholes is so brave! He's enjoying his jacket and has worn it every day since I gave it to him which is really sweet. I hope you all had a lovely Christmas x
Great makes Tania, thanks for sharing. Always a bonus to see Ettie too. I’m making a denim skirt just now so did my first zip fly yesterday and enjoyed it. You’re absolutely right about just taking your time with it. Hope you had a lovely Christmas. 😊
Ettie has taken a liking to being on RUclips 🤣 I find zip fly strangely satisfying, they're pretty cool when they come together. I had a very nice Christmas, thank you. I hope you did too.
You got some wonderful fabrics! We were in London in summer of 2022 but I didn't know anything about Goldhawk Road at the time so I missed it. We hope to come back int he few years so, hopefully, I will next time. I made my husband a pullover from the North Star Hoodie and Pullover by Love Notions patterns out of some cotton French Terry for Christmas. He was thrilled with it which thrilled me. It's the first time I've made him something he truly seems to like! 😂
Maybe it's best you missed Goldhawk Rd, your suitcase might not have thanked you 😄 That's so lovely he likes his pullovers so much, they will mean a lot to him. Thank you for watching and have a happy new year!
Lovely video and lovely makes. Could I just ask about the light you have next to your sewing machine. Can it be positioned to direct more light near the foot area. It's so hard sewing on these long dark days at the moment 😒😒
Thank you. Yes, the light is bendy and also the actual light area swivels, like it's a barrel. I will try to show it on my next video. It was from IKEA I think, a few years ago though. It doesn't give off the best light but it helps for sure.
I have that Jeans pattern. I'd be interested in which version of the jeans you made. And also wondered why you chose that pattern as opposed to the Dawn or the other more popular patterns? 😊Thanks
I chose the slouchy fit, I like the Mom style jeans that are a bit on the looser side with a high waist. I lengthened them by 2 inches total, 1 inch just below the crotch and 1 inch below the knee. I've written about it in more detail on my Instagram. Thanks for watching
Loved your makes and your fabric, the jacket for your husband is beautiful. I’ve had a nightmare with buttonholes, it’s my first time trying them and they were on a reversible pinafore that I’d made for my Granddaughter. I wondered if it was partly my machine, it’s a Janome but it isn’t a computerised one and I’ve read quite a few comments online that other people have also had problems. I eventually managed but the material was quite damaged 😢
I'm sorry to hear that. Did you interface between the fabrics? What type of fabric was it? Even after testing on scraps the machine can throw a wobbly on the proper fabric. Is there any way you could mend it?
@@justletmesew Thank you for replying, I’m very new to sewing and the pattern didn’t mention interfacing so I didn’t use it, one side of the fabric was babycord and the other side was cotton. After much research I came to the conclusion that I should have interfaced it but what I did was to use fabric glue and stick another piece of the cotton fabric on to make it more stable then I cut away the excess. I was so disappointed as I’d made a really good job of the actual pinafore. It’s a steep learning curve. ❤️😊
@@JanetteTaylor-q8x That sounds really frustrating for you. Was the buttonhole near a seam, could that have got in the way? Maybe hunt around on RUclips for some tutorials, sometimes you find some golden tips. Good luck 😊
@@justletmesew Morning, the buttonhole wasn’t near a seam, I think it was a combination of lack of experience and my machine glitching, I did do loads of practice runs and most of them worked. I’m really disappointed as I thought the automatic buttonhole function would have been a lot better but maybe they work better in more expensive machines. It’s been nice chatting to someone about it, thank you ❤️

You did a wonderful job on your hubby's jacket. I am sure he will love it because you made it. ❤
Thank you Zelda, I was really surprised by how pleased he was with it 😊
@@justletmesew Awe!
Your husbands jacket is lovely 😊
Thank you 😊
I made my 2 year old granddaughter fairy wings and 6 purse sized tissue covers. That was all I sewed for gifts this year. Happy new year!
She must have loved the fairy wings, what a sweet present. Happy new year to you too.
Your suggestion of interlining is brilliant! Going to try that on my next lined garment. Love the look of the Ilford jacket!
Thanks Michele, I'm planning a pink boiled wool version for myself. It's a comfy, relaxed fit 😊
Great vlog.
Thank you 😊
Great vlog as always thank you for the tips on the shops in Goldhawk Rd ❤
Thank you, I'm glad it was helpful 🌸
