Most drivers don’t know, but DoorDash has raised the costs to customers in the last 6 months, it’s ridiculous.
A customer will order like let’s say a $3.65 generic case of water, with delivery fee’s, markup, taxes with a measly $2.00 tip turns that water into a $17.00 bill, while for for us it shows like $4.25-$4.75.
Is generally don’t touch anything for less than a $5 tip for under 4 miles so that would turn the $4 case of water to a $20 bill on the customer.
So what kills me is that every order is stacked because the lack of tips and so the customer sees their order drive around or sit at another restaurant getting cold.
Customer satisfaction is at an all time low.. I hear it all the time with DD and Uber.

True, nice work!! Plus Ive met restaurants that refused to use DD because DD wants a commission on there food!!!! In otherwords they are heavey investors in A.I. and robotics and its all about them running off with all the profits and shows they are planning to get in the cheapest drivers possible till one day the last standing driver delivering for 50 cents 5 miles will be crapped on even if he lives for free with mom and dad!!!!!! I started at a base pay of 5 dollars last octorber and I know they once had a base pay of 8 dollars!!! Maybe it will be self driving cars and drones and robots soon LOL!!!!

Since the pandemic I knew it would only be a matter of time before Instacart went under. They had way too many shoppers and no way to pay them. That’s why I stopped doing Instacart long before I got deactivated. I could see the change in the offers and no matter how many stores they added to the platform they still were paying like a Doordash offer. Shopping use to pay more than just food delivery but not anymore.

    • @RideshareRodeo

Somehow Spark manages to make those kind of offers acceptable even without the tip (at least in my area). I have to assume the majority of the delivery fee is going to the driver or their just taking a loss to male sure it gets delivered. Uber does this as well sometimes. DoorDash seems like the only platform that simply refuses to pay more to make these kind of deliveries acceptable to drivers.

The market for meal delivery is hugely oversaturated and only marginally profitable even the best of times. Grocery delivery is a little better since there isnt a restaurant in the equation that complicates things. I think meal delivery will be something that is only available in certain high-volume markets. Grocery shopping and delivery will just get absorbed into the greater Last Mile market.

I get those kind of orders often! They don’t want to pay an honest fair and respectable base pay for each order across the board which from where I stand and what I’ve seen is absolutely asinine as a business model for Doordash! One6 dollar McDonald’s coffee I delivered Wednesday with a 5 mile drive all highway Doordash base was just over nine dollars! I took it because I knew there would absolutely be a good Tip coming from that customer and I waited at McDonald’s forever only because I was on EBT! So McDonald’s taking forever to get me one mocha frappe bag up Cost the Doordash not only more than the product total but way more than they got out of it. But hey what do I care? All that base pay they paid me as well as the four dollar Customer tip are in my account lol

75% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. ICYMI all the fast food places are dying and shop and pay is taking its place as customers seek better values.
Paying $18 for your Starbucks mocha latte frapa grande and another $18 in fees to have it delivered just doesn't cut it.
Fastfood delivery was up in April as the IRS tax refunds rolled in and people felt rich. That money is now gone.imo
Some tax refunds were used by laid off workers to buy junk cars to enable them to do the gig jobs till the next w2 job came along.
However after being force to take any delivery or Rideshare offer to come along so they can make their used car payment they are coming up short as evidence by the soaring current used car repo rates.
It's bad real bad. To top it off you have over 10 million new neighbors pushing down wages

I have the complete opposite experience as RUclips doordashers🤔 I always make sure to do my minimum 100 deliveries to maintain ‘dash now’… I easily make $100 for 4 hours worth of driving. $200 for 8 hours. Probably $300 if I did sun up to sun down. I keep track of anything and everything I can deduct. I’ll get grocery orders that pay from $15-$38. The other day I got $40 to deliver 2 giant bags of dog food. The trick is to be loyal. Sometimes when I accept the short distance $4 order… they’ll stack and add an extra order while I’m in route, or the one after I complete ends up being $10. My acceptance rate is usually between 85-94%. I originally signed up before the pandemic when it was actually garbage pay. But as of April I’ve been doing it full time and I’m able to afford living in Denver alone with a financed car and full coverage. I drive a 2015 hybrid that gets me 40 mpg. Anyway…. It must just be that Denver is a better market than where everyone else is🤷🏽‍♀️
