Many times I've heard this song, the feeling i get when i hear it is of sorrow and a sense having lost someone. Although Stan has done a very good rendition of it, i don't think it will pull the heart strings quite as much as hearing the uncles and aunties singing it. But to think each time i hear it there will be one less uncle, auntie, cuzzy to help make it that much special. Aue, sad memories, but good ones all the same.

This is BRILLIANT -- the Old 100 has not ever sounded as good as this until now and it is a great tune of great gravitas. Vaughn William eat you heart out! Louis Bourgeois (c. 1510 - c.1560) would be amazed at this rendition of his tune, sung so very far from Geneva. STAN Walker is a vocal powerhouse of ihi, wairua, waiata tino pai, whakapono ... This is BRILLIANT as is most of what Stan does. AND the kapahaka group of Stan's marae is right off the scales greatne4ss!

My ears may not understand the Maori language, but my naʻau does for some reason. This song has got me all emotional and I can’t explain why.
Maybe because it is a Rātana Pā himene (gospel song of the Ratana church) it’s called Mā Te Mārie it lifts the wairua (lifts the soul) happy hunting. The original versions are , how do I say, not as great! As this one xoxo

It's a nice song when you listen to how it's played without the lyrics it's more powerful song .you must listen to it. Look for Ma te Marie Ratana Band. And watch the video Of T.W Ratana and our temple and how our religion began.
