For anyone wanting to try this, DO NOT USE A RIVER ROCK. At least one that has been under water for an extended period of time. They can have water trapped inside the tiny pores of the rock and when you put it over a fire, the rock will do its best impression of a popcorn kernel. I’m speaking from experience.

RIVER ROCKS ARE ACTUALLY THE BEST ROCKS TO USE FOR TRANSFERRING HEAT. I grew up only using the ground to heat my food till I graduated high school in the islands. Didn’t have the luxury of having a stove or oven till then. And rocks were the only thing we used to heat our food ie: pig, roots, chicken, plants etc. The best rocks to use were river rocks, they held heat much better and wouldn’t explode like the other rocks. Not sure what kinda river rock you used, but growing up using nothing but rocks to heat your food, I can definitely attest that RIVER ROCKS ARE THE BEST CHOICE.

I once went to place like this with my family (altough brazilian equivalent, so no snow). We were planning on staying at an hotel, but we found this place with scenery so beautiful even my wife (who usually dislikes wild nature) wanted to camp there.
I could finaly use some skills i learned in scout camp, and my wife proved she can cook well in any condition.
I will never forget that experience.

@@DK177_bsI’m not a Turk, but I am from the Mid East (Jordan specifically), and yes people eat overcooked protein in general (beef, chicken, even fish). BUT, after eating a steak medium, you can never go back. I moved to the US when I was 19, and after eating steak the RIGHT WAY, I can’t eat my mom’s overcooked proteins anymore, and I LOVE my mom’s cooking, so I cook my own.
TLDR: well done steak is inferior to a medium/medium rare steak in every aspect (flavor, texture, etc).

@@BigMeefer Pink in the center doesn’t mean raw. Not to mention, the type of bacteria that grows on raw beef starts on the outside and gradually grows in towards the center. For this reason you can cook steaks and leave the center rare, as you only have to cook the outer layers where the bacteria resides.
Keep in mind though that this isn’t the case with other meats - chicken, for example, can contain salmonella which spreads throughout entire pieces of meat. Center and all.
