Letter from Gisèle Faure to his wife in Rennes Brittany Ma très chère épouse, After landing on Scotland the march resumed, covering a good distance without meeting serious resistance by the British government. Most troops have been pulled from reasonable positions to stop us and instead guard some wealthy lord's industry or other such thing. lord. Leaving them scattered and isolated often captured without a shot fired, which I feel is the best way to win a war but a poor showing on it's the defender's command. It wasn't until Edinburgh that we met some formal resistance, and that was because the Highland Foot refused to surrender the city despite how horribly outnumbered they were they stood. Napoleon chose to humor them and ordered the old guard to the front, he wished to honor them with the battle of our best vs their best. Frankly, I felt this display of ego was not necessary when we had cannon, number, and horse superiority so we could have won with little losses. The commander of the Highlanders also realized the folly of his betters and after his men let loose a few volleys he ordered their withdrawal and surrendered. We took the city in good order and good timing as the snow started to fall heavy on the highlands, so we quartered up in the barracks the British made here. Meanwhile, the battles on the mainland continued, Murat intercepted another Prussian army outside Frankfurt, and the battle became one over a ford and bridge over the river Main. Dispatches report he opened up with his horse Artillery, snipping out their cannons and smothering their columns with round shots. However, he got complacent and did not prepare the ford for when the Prussians arrived, they managed to rush a regiment of cavalry across and take out one cannon battery before they were repelled. As his cannons and some of his infantry were shredding the enemy at the ford, he tried his cavalry to cross the bridge unnoticed yet was noticed by alert pickets. The Prussians are learning from how we have defeated others, they kept a few infantry regiments and some cavalry in reserve to guard their cannons, forcing the cavalry to maneuver wider. Which to be fair did help stretch the Prussians and force their hand, either attack our defensive lines or the cavalry and be attacked in turn by the other. To spare you the horrible details, the end result was a victory for Murat and his forces. Lastly, I was able to confirm your brother was not part of the recent navy battle that took place. Frankly, I do not fully understand naval doctrine but I found the report surprising all the same. Three of our ships of the line came across three British frigates, yet instead of fleeing as they were horribly outgunned they turned into the wind and had a fight with our ships of the line. I imagine their captains gambling on out-maneuvering the ships of the lines. Yet they came in at too aggressive a turn and fell under the guns of our warships, which resulted in two of their ships being sunk and a third captured. While this letter is getting very long, and we're leaving the highlands for England's lower country, I have already dispatched a squad of cavalry to see to your parent's estate and their safety. While the French army maintains good discipline looting is an unfortunate problem we still have in the army. One I have been working hard to crush however some of the generals do not help by also being guilty of it. Thus often I am put in charge of preventing looting in cities and other key places, I will personally go greet your parents as soon as we have made sure it is reasonable and safe. Our biggest threat on the march hasn't been the army or the refugees who flee only to discover we haven't burned their cities and then go back to them. But the highwaymen, apparently a large problem in England's remote corners, these fools often try to attack what they think is a lone carriage or rider, only to discover they have shot at a wagon train or officer of a line company. Naturally, we catch and kill the majority of these brutes but it does slow our march. As I was finishing writing this word came in that it was time to march again, so sadly darling I must sign off another letter. I do miss you and our children greatly and I wish to see you all soon. Hopefully, your parents will at least stop harboring such unjustified hatred for our marriage after this is all over. Keep in good health and know I think about you all often. When it was captured by the Royal Navy at Trafalgar, the Santisima Trinidad was the most armed ship in the world by number of cannons, but not the largest. That record goes to the French 120-gun ships of the Océan class (aka Darthmod’s 122-gun ships) until they lost it to the gigantic USS Pennsylvania in the 1830s. The Océans proved popular enough that the last two modernised ships of the class were built in the 1850s, during the empire of the *other* Napoleon.
Maybe try sending in a few sacrificial trade ships towards Nelsons fleet? Either attacking, or as a bait close to them. Not sure it will actually do anything, but maybe the British are in shock and just need a push to action?
Hello Mr LH, Sir, Interesting battle with Marshall Murrat's Army against the Prussians. I can't believe I Will recommend this but Murrat should be charging with his Cavalry. As he said "Any Hussar that is alive at 30 yrs is a coward!" Further that Army of Murrat's is built for the attack and quick manoeuvre! Not static artillery duels. I would have had a grand move of columns and then a hammer blow of Cav with long distance Artillery support. But the day was yours! The people of France rejoice! Vive L'Emperor, vive Napoleon. It is a shame the English cower and do not disembark or attack Brittany or Calais? What the Deuce is Nelson and the Iron Duke up to? Very interesting seeing France move up the channel to fight the Prussian navy? Interesting indeed! Love this content and keep it coming!🍻
Just wanted to say one thing, that quote was actually of Hussar General Lasalle not Marshal Murat General Lasalle said that but died aged 33 at Wagram(3 years late)
It’s weird that you said the ultimate sounds are disabled because the sounds you’re using aren’t from Napoleon. The artillery is straight from Fall of the Samurai
out of all of napoleons 26 marshals who is your who is your favourite? mine is marshal Berthier because while not a good battle commander he was a brilliant chief of staff for napoleon and i dont think napoleon could have built the grand army or won many of the battles he did without his organisation skills as proven by napoleons defeat at waterloo where his command structure and army organisation utterly collapsed. second to him is Bernadotte because he proved an effective monarch of sweden and the only one of napoleons marshals brave enough to openly defy him and fight against him.
Can you please name a infantry unit Régiment de Royal Suédois (hopefully in Bernadotte the usurpers army) after the real Swedish foreign regiment who fought for the French and existed between 1690 and 1814.
OK, so while the RN had a reputation for achieving victory despite incredible odds, especially in single ship actions, not even the most daring would have taken on 3 ships of the line with two 5th rates and an unrated sloop. The AI should have defaulted to run away in this case. As it is, those two frigates would have simply been blown out of the water by the first broadside of the first French ship. Love this game, but the naval warfare needed a lot more work.
Darthmod removed the Napoleon Population mechanic (which could limit your recruitment iirc), as well as make auto-resolve very whacky to discourage people auto-resolving.
why not use burnadotte to reinforce the Wurttemberg and bavarian siege as you would ensure the destruction of the prussian garrison with less losses and allow murat to potentialy take on any exposed prussian army or take on oldenburg before they strike at the very east if your allies win you have more time to build up a proper army for Bernadotte

i find it funny how the french and spanish had the biggest ships however still lost due the likes of nelson and cochrain

Well the Spanish are eating all the Welsh cakes, so may as well get a bite in London...
So you are saying that the Prussians are doing a surprise maneuver through the ardennes? That is clearly not something they will try again, right?
🤣🤣
Surely not!!
Yea but LH doesn't have Patton's mouth to come to the rescue 😂😂

Speaking of Sharpe, have you seen that movie series? Pretty good if I do say so myself, Sean Bean really outdid himself with these masterpieces.
Yep I’ve mentioned in previous episodes that I’ve recently rewatched the whole series :) Great show.
For historical reasons you should save Bernadotte for the Scandinavian campaign, let him march on his future kingdom Sweden
For the algorithm eagle 🦅⚔️🦅
The 42nd Foot, The Black Watch, were the elite of Scotland. The Highland Foot were normal line infantry.

I believe youll need to comment this on episode one to stand a good chance of it being seen
@@Dinorawr318 thanks i will do that

I wish they had a game where the British take America imagine what could be done with real general's and not lord's and Aristocrat's.

Lionheart you cant place stakes while deploying your troops. You need to start the battle then you can lol
I know I said that in the video I’m pretty sure 🤣
Will you remeber me ? :/
No you are meaningless
