Nice brief on Treasury bonds on offer. I request you to do such video for each new bond offering. Maybe with less on basic explanations, more on just notifying us in diaspora of offer, attractiveness etc. I have subscribed to Yr channel
I was thinking of investing in Government bonds. But now "hapana" hii ni hasara tupu na unalipa ushuru juu yake. By the time you get your money, provided you are alive, inflation will have nullified that interest.
This is good stuff; Could you kindly also explain why investors have had to pay a premium on the 16% coupon bond; i.e., if the face value is Kshs. 100,000/=, the investors have had to part with 111k plus.
Honestly, there is a reason that there was undersubsription in the recent bond opening and why are they reopening old ones? This just smells fishy however you look at it.
The last under subscription was before the IFB was auctioned. There had been oversubscription since. Reopening new bonds is CBK's mode of managing interest rates since coupons has been predetermined. The intention has been to bring down the interest rates to propel the economy to growth.
The way I have come to understand investing in government papers by the time they "'drink water" the rentals will have drowned a long time ago. Ie to say by the time the economy collapses even your tenants will have stopped paying rent months before.
@@janemuriungi8447 perfectly said. The only disadvantage over rentals is that bonds exposes you to inflation risk so you need to work on mitigation the risk. Otherwise they're awesome investments.
There is no maximum. However, the government usually has a target i.e 45 billion. So any excess, cannot be accepted . There is a.critwria they use to not accept some bids
Honestly, money wise, it doesn't matter. All that matters is the interest you will be earning and the time period preference. Do you want a bond that lasts 5 years or 8 yrs? Do you want one that has a 16% coupon or 13%. Those things,in my view, are most important

When reopened, those that had invested earlier in the 1st issuing, do they still get their interest when the bond is still "closed"?
Interest is locked. If you bought it when the interest rate was 18% and the bond has been reopened at 15%.
Your interest will still be 18%
Interesting kindly make a video on stocks to invest in
On it
Do the calculations on the IFBs reopened
Alright. Stay tuned
Honestly, there is a reason that there was undersubsription in the recent bond opening and why are they reopening old ones? This just smells fishy however you look at it.
FXD1/2024/10 was oversubscribed by over 100%. The others may have been undersubscribed because of the low coupons.
At the same time am also curious why tbill rates are so low...something isnt right

@@edwinkny If there was an issue the rates would have been way higher to lure investors.
Then this could be better than building rentals? My question is: Can they bounce? I mean can they drink water ? 😅
Yes but this is very rare. It can only happen if the state or economy collapses.

You have stated the mimimum investment is Ksh 50,000. What is the maximu allowed investment amount?
There is no maximum. However, the government usually has a target i.e 45 billion. So any excess, cannot be accepted . There is a.critwria they use to not accept some bids
Which is Da better option?....wait for a new bond?
..or invest in an old re-opened bond?
