That's just such a great result from a simple technique! Thank you so much for showing us that.

Thank you for this Beth - it is so pretty. I wonder if you have a technique for a Latvian briad up the edges of a scarf? I think I would have to sew it on afterwards but can I knit it with the scarf?

Hi Beth, a question for you if I may? Is this cast on also known as the herringbone cast on or are there (slight) differences? Thank you in advance!

That's a good question! The way I learned these, they are VERY similar. But the difference is in how the loop on the thumb is entered by the needle. In the Braided Cast-on, essentially the long-tail cast-on is worked by picking up the outside of the thumb yarn loop, like an ordinary Long Tail Cast-On. In the Herringbone Cast-on, the inside of the yarn loop on the thumb is picked up. This is a visible difference because the Herringbone is more compact, as there is a twist introduced into the cast-on. Thanks for watching and asking such a great question!

How do you take the slip knot out safely?

Pull the short tails. The knot will come out easily.

Is this stretchy enough for a hat?
