    Got this same setup, but I'm running mine off 2 400w panels. The extra panel, Im going to use it to charge battery backup setup and run yard lights off grid. This video was very helpful, thanks!

    Just installed the same pump on my pool here in North Florida. It's been running for about 2 months, and I've seen close to $100 monthly savings on my electric bill! I went ahead and ditched the old AC pump altogether, and I have yet to miss it! Pool is sparkling clean rom the increased filtration time. Amazing setup!

    I wanted to thank you again for this great video🏆! I really appreciate it! I do have a question on grounding the wires though for safety purposes. Did you ground yours? I have a very old setup and it is not grounded... I have been told that mine is not safe and I need to ground mine...so I'm looking to copy yours, but I also need to think about grounding the electricity. 🌻Thanks!🙂

      I did not ground mine due to the fact that this is mild DC current... not high AC..altho my 220v pump was grounded properly to code....I doubt if ther is even a code for a solar pump but id advise u contact your local building codes inspector and asked him. I doubt anyone in the old electric codes books ever dreamed a dc solar pump would even be possible

    Subscribed to see how the pump holds up to long-term every day use. I’m curious how long it’ll last.

      Ok thanks ... so far so good ..il give an update summer of 2025...my hope is there's nothing to go wrong in a DC pump..only cooper wires amd a controller board.. and unless my solar panels get hit by a rock etc...my solar panels are good for 20 years. Fingers 🤞

    Hi. thanks for your video showing your experience with the solar pump. I live in Australia and have one of these solar BLDC pumps running as well. I bought it from Alibaba when Covid started but didn't install it for a few years. The darn thing gave me heaps of trouble and got a new pc board which burnt out in a matter of weeks. I ended up getting a whole new controller box and it is working ok now but I am not running it to its potential - only running 88 Volts 10 Amps from the solar panels. Does your controller box get very hot. Does it have any active fan cooling or is it just passive via the cooling fins on the back of the box. Keep us informed how it performs, good or bad it' all good information for people. Great informative vid, thanks a lot.

      Will do! I keep it outside so I don't get any heat from it so far...what size solar did u use? And how many etc...I bet the amount of solar is causing the heat...try to aim for the 110 to 120dc range ...the pump cools itself with water and the rear fan...if ur solar is too low dc wise and is not spinning the pump to where water is flowing well enough to cool it ... it won't cool and be too hot.

    Apologies in advance, but what mttp Solar panel controller did you use? Its not in the list of equipment and doesn't seem to be included with the panels?
    Thanks

      The solar controller comes with the pump in a package deal...in the show notes click the link to the 72v 900w solar pump and you'll see the controller listed included with the solar pump, +all wires etc

    I like the setup, but why didn't you use schedule 40 90's. You get twice the glue joints. And do you keep your pool open year round ? Which would effect roi.

      I live in ky... it gets as cold as zero or minus 0 here in winters...no one ever keeps a pool open all year round here and all pools shut down by October...usually even when the kids go back to school...hope u live in a warm climate and yes this solar pump would save u money all year long!!!:).

    The pump seems kind of loud, is it as loud as it sounds on the video?😮

    • @st-qp4mr

      Had my mic to close to it...sorry.. ..I don't notice it at all when I'm on the other end of the pool....id say, it's less noisy than my old 220v pump was. I've had it now for the whole summer..no issues ..it is the best thing I've done to my pool by far..I've never had to turn on my 220v electric pump once...also I don't ever have to worry about turning it on or off..the sun does that each day for me..
      ..went on vacation for 8 days... never had to call anyone to check my pool whilst gone!!! It's was perfect when I came home..filtering away with the daylight...it goes off around 30 mins til sunset.....the real sound can be heard when I do the test that shoots water out to over the pool...thats what it sounds like.

      sorry for being a pain in the ass so i am installing panels in a storage shed i have and the controller but pool in probably 50 feet from where the controller will be do they sell that 3 wire from controller to pump longer?

    • @st-qp4mr
      @st-qp4mr  4 месяца назад +1

      @@LOURACING1 yes u can find 50ft or whatever length u need on ebay..just search 50 ft solar extension wire mc4 ...you will expirence a slight drop in voltage due to friction of length but it will be maybe a volt is all at that length...the most important id make sure your roof of that shed is facing south
      .if it's east to West facing slant your panels won't produce enough power to run ur pump except for noon to 3 ..won't be enough power ..your panels must face south!

    The pump is 72vdc and your series solar panels send it 120vdc, this isn't damage the controller or even the pump?

    • @st-qp4mr
      @st-qp4mr  3 месяца назад +3

      According to the manual the range of the 72v pump is from 84vdc to 120vdc..so far the panels are working perfectly...there's always some loss of efficiency so I don't think im producing 120vdc probably more like 112 vdc or lower..il have to check with a meter..but it has been working flawlessly since installed..I even went on vaca and never touched it ...for 10 days it turned itself on and off with the sun 🌞 Pool water clear!!!
