  • In my previous video about Dynamic LOD, I made a mistake with the Object Level of Detail (OLOD) config. So, let's correct that now :)

I'm very glad he was curious enough to admit that you made a mistake and corrected it😢 I was thinking that also

Thanks, I was confused by the default profile config. In that config the OLOD increased with the alttitude AGL.

It wasn’t a mistake the correction is the error. You do enable a higher LoD at altitude.

I think you got the purpose of dynamic LoD wrong.
The idea is you would like the highest LoD as that’s the best visuals. On the ground there is too much information so you have to have a lower LoD than you do at altitude.
Dynamic LoD increases the LoD value as you climb maintaining whatever minimum FPS you want. So on the ground you might only be able to use 100, but at 8000ft you might have maximum LoDs without losing any FPS.

You have one part of the LOD right. That's TLOD, for OLOD it's the opposite.

You may not like this (don't take this personal, I am just trying to help), but OLOD doesn't make much impact on performance. You can test it yourself, I did some testing flying over NYC at 5000 and 10000ft. The OLOD min and max may change 1 FPS if that. BTW, your config suggestion is also against the developer recommendations, he does suggest less is more, probably because every time the app changes LOD it may introduce some stutters. See original app dev notes below:
    "Less is more:
Fewer Increments/Decrements are better. Of reasonable Step-Size (roughly in the Range of 25-75).
Some Time in between Changes is better.
Don't overdo it with extreme low or high xLOD Values. A xLOD of 100 is reasonable fine on Ground, 200-ish is reasonable fine in Air.
Tune your AGL/LOD Pairs to the desired Performance (which is more than just FPS).
FPS Adaption is just one temporary Adjustment on the current AGL/xLOD Pair to fight some special/rare Situations.
Forcing the Sim to (un)load Objects in rapid Succession defeats the Goal to reduce Stutters. It is not about FPS.
Smooth Transitions lead to smoother Experiences.
Rest should be self-explanatory. And if it is not: You are using something you really should not use.

Thank you for your information and HNY Erick. The new config as shown in the video has smaller increments/decrements as suggested by the developer. This is to avoid big changes, which tend to produce stutters. I know it won't give you more FPS, but instead a more steady FPS which results in a smoother flight (less stutters)

@@Virtusimsorry mate, I think you still don't get it. The dev suggests less steps/interruptions to change LODs, not smaller increments. He actually suggests increments to be within 25-75 and NOT to go to extremes as it is not needed. Stick to 50-150 ranges and you are going to be fine. Read the dev instructions carefully and you will understand what I am talking about. HNY to you too!

Why doesnt the DEV implement this into the game that he works on making as vanilla? and then we wouldnt need this ball ache.@@ErickNagy
