The lock is the old one yes but it's the most reliable and durable, you do have a modern lock button so you don't need to use it like the maruti.

It has a child lock system, then we can never open the door from inside. Opens only from outside.
Ppl die in fire accident bcs of electronic lock not working and cant open doors. Its safer to have that manual option also.

It’s not about orvm opening and closing it’s about automation… when you go away from the car while keys are inside your pocket car will lock and unlock itself accordingly deciding orvm’s will stay open or close prior to that.

Approach unlock and leave away lock feature consume a lot of battery of key fob. I had to turn off these features on mg hector plus as remote battery wasn't lasting even 4 months.

the maruti wala lock system is also used in rolls royce and many other luxury car brands.
Lock and unlock feature is copied in BMW by RENAULT
