Back fire also comes from straight pipes so I'm really missing your point tbh, seeing how most cars here are from states with very lax emissions regulations while also being modified I'd bet most muscle here doesn't even use cats! I doubt this SS had cats at all....I've spent the last week searching for my Camaro's exhaust, choice of pipes with cats is quite limited vs no emission parts. Living where I live I don't have a choice and have to comply with emissions but they certainly don't have to in Texas!
