Spitzkoppe in Namibia: the Best Camping Ever

  • Thinking of going to Spitzkoppe in Namibia? Want to do a self drive camping trip (4x4 camping, to be precise)? Perfect, you're on the right track and we recommend you go for it.
It is as epic as you'd imagine. Amazing camping, climbing, - the campsites are spacious, and the stargazing is absolutely the best we've ever seen in our entire lives. We think we'll have to go back for that reason alone.
Make sure you book slightly in advance, and you'll want to show up around noon if you want your pick of the campsites, because people start driving in around 3-4 to set up their tents or rooftop camp tents to catch the sunset and have dinner.
Affordability: definitely. All of the campsites were priced at $12 when we visited in February of 2019.
Food: You'll want to bring your own. There is a little restaurant at the entrance, but people we talked to recommended against it. Besides, you're camping, so bring a little stove, gas burner, and grill up some meat.
Hygiene: they have pretty great showers, sinks, toilets at the entrance that we used.

EPIC landscape! Amazing night sky. Car top camping might have been safer but hey you survived. This was awesome. Thank you for sharing.

I don't understand why you don't have more subscribers. Your videography and photos are incredible! Maybe Include a link to the site, or name it in the video so that those who would love to stay there (like me haha) would be able to find it :) Great job!

Thanks for the compliment! So we don’t have an exact name for that campsite (like, other than campsite 12 or something, lol) but the rock formation is Spitzkoppe and there’s only a single camping office to register with ✌️

Wow! Great shots, beautifully done! I am currently prepping our trip to Namibia for next year and I am so glad we have booked a night at the Spitzkoppe tented camp! After watching your video I am sure to follow a star / sky photography course or something- really amazing.

Awesome! Hope you have a fantastic time, we totally loved Namibia as an entire country. Try to get a campsite near the natural archway/bridge if you can (might be able to book ahead of time but we showed up ‘day of’ and grabbed one pretty close, it was low season though 😉)
      Thanks for watching!! ✌️

Dude, now that you mention it, we never researched what kind of cat it was. I have the pics on my phone so I need to do some online comparisons. Recommend rooftop camping for pretty much anywhere on this continent, like you said, TIA 😎

We used the GH5 with a Sigma 1.8. Most of the photos were about 10-15 seconds exposure. Much easier than we thought!

Did you stay at Logufa camp site or at Spitzkoppe Camp? Logufa also name their camp Spitzkoppe Camp but it is two different companies. If you can share a contact, going there in March.

That's a great question - I can tell you that we stayed at the camp we had access to at the main entrance - I don't know if there are others?

Hi, just came back from Spitz. The camping is inside fenced off conservancy, Spitzkoppe Camp (another one nearby is S Tented Camp, and it is outside), now it is 150 N$ per person per night, or roughly 10 US$. Can not recognize camp site number you stayed at, perhaps 1 A or B, but I could not go up the boulders, path is blocked by stones now.
