- After 10yrs of surfing for SUPERbrand Surfboards... the time has come to to part ways.
I got my first batch of SUPERs in March of 2012. I was 22 years old and trying hard to solidify my career in surfing. SUPER stepped in and provided me with quality boards that I could trust and surf the way I wanted to, and over the years to come built me a quiver to fulfill my dreams. On top of that we worked together to dial in what is now the "PigDog Pro" board model... my all time favorite surfboard that has nabbed me the wave of my life, and an insane amount of time in the barrel.
You can hear in the video the explanation as to why I'm leaving, as well as my thanks to those at SUPER who built my boards, and managed me there. I'll forever be grateful to the shapers who helped get me to where I am in my career... cause it would have been daggon hard to make happen (if it even would have happened) without reliable boards under my feat.

One of the big surf companies needs to step up and give a Brett a massive contract .......who better for an ambassador for a surf brand ?
Brett, tell Kelly he has 2 weeks before I head to the big boys (and no, the financers won't be in surfing realm (no finagling) - I'm talking the big boys - banks or large corporations).
I could just hand it off to Kelly though - as I'd actually prefer.
How about Surf Expo - convention center is on my walk.
Brett, everyone else bows their heads, prays, and begs for forgiveness.
Me, I flick them off.
I see what they did to us - to all of us (no waves 90% of the time).
Bastards...
It's like real life is The Hunger Games - and the sobs are laughing up above.
They make you know how good it is, but prevent you from having it.
They want you to suppress until it's your moment to shine, spit and all.
Then, finally, the beast is released and you get your moment - at pipe! spit and all.
As a man from North Carolina you are a legend dude. Everyone that surfs from here and South Carolina knows your name. Absolute legend.

Thanks for this Brett! It was an honor to work with you over the years! So much respect and admiration for you, your surfing, and your character. Blessing to you and your family and the next phase of you career!

there's honestly so much more to be said too! but I figured concise and to the point was best :) 10yrs is a lot to cover. but ya, I can look back and know exactly where my mindset was easy year going back to when I was a kid. it's cool to see what I succeeded at and what I didnt. And especially cool to see the pivotal moments that changed the course of what i was doing.

I've never surfed but I appreciate the level of dedication it took to get to the level you are today.. If I owned a surf company ........I would be offering you the biggest contract ever just because of who you are and what you represent ! Good clean fun while being a model father,husband and ambassador for the sport of surfing ! I maybe wrong but I think it was a big mistake for Superbrand to let you go ! May our Creator bless you and your family in these tough times !
SUPER didnt let me go... I walked away. some stuff was changing with the company and I felt it was time to move on. My dream was to be with super until the end, but things change, and you have to adapt sometimes.

I heard Superbrand name is now owned by Surftech. Heard some people who paid for custom boards waiting for delivery say the factory just went silent and can't get hold of them. Looks like the owner just shut it down. Hopefully Brett can clarify.
I'm not sure any of their current plans... we parted ways back in early February, but I've been organizing some stuff on my side before I announced it.

Haha it’s definitely not what my career was based around. Part of growing up in a steep fast beachbreak I guess. It barrels or gives you a section. time on an open face is a rarity.
