    Standard Class 9F 2-10-0
    92134
Designed by Robert Riddles and built at Crewe Works in 1957, the steam locomotive is the solo surviving single chimney 9F. After being rescued from Barry scrapyard, the loco was initially preserved on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, before moving away with the majority of its restoration taking place at Crewe (it even took the journey from The Railway Age/LNWR site to Crewe Works for the 2003 Open Day).
In 2016 the loco moved to the East Lancs, were it was hoped to complete the restoration and return the loco to steam, although other priorities meant that work would not progress at the hoped rate. The locomotive moved on again and returned to the NYMR were the locomotive steamed in summer 2019, entering traffic during the Annual Steam Gala, we see the locomotives first ever preservation passenger runs (both double headed and solo) in this video.
We see the heavy freight loco in action on the Moors, operating solo and double heading with a variety of locomotives, including Great Western Society GWR 6023 King Edward I, USATC S160 2253 and being banked by GWR 2999 Lady of Legend.

They did their most sterling work on the heavy iron ore trains up the steep slopes to Consett in County Durham, wonderful machines...

Imagine creating the most efficient freight steam locomotive in Britain, and then finding out the thing can go 90 mph.

They did this because they were fitted with properly engineered
and factory balanced 5 foot diameter drive wheels so there was no occilation bounce vibration

Network Rail have raised the Check Rails, thus the 9fs will never run on main line.

@@loco42041 It wasn't originally the check rails that stopped them!

If the 9Fs ran on the mainline then they could have caused an accident and they’re not allowed to run on the mainline.

It stated that 92245 is going to be dismantled and not be restored to working order and that the boiler will be used for the exhibit to tell the stories of Barry, but the boiler will not be used for the exhibit itself and it is moved to Peak Rail for future restoration and 92245 will moved there for future restoration and once the missing parts are delivered to 92245 from other scrapped 9Fs, the engine will be allowed for use at the heritage railway for working order.

Known as S160's here, there are quite a few around in UK, 8 I think. Very nice looking engine, US but built to our loading gauge. Being "repatriated" from Europe?

It’s unfortunate right now that they had a line side fire, meaning they aren’t running any steam services for 3 weeks. Was gonna go up there and see it but obviously I can’t 😭
