Pigs were actually domesticated from the Eurasian Wild Boar. Warthogs are actually outside of the genus "Sus" in which our domesticated animals are derivative from.
I caught the turtle bug. I'm Absolutely fascinated. Over 20 years as a hobbyist and I've always overlooked turtles. I've been talking to a lot of long term turtle enthusiasts and on top of that your videos and the tremendous amount of effort you put into your sanctuary, I've completely changed course in the hobby. Another great video. Keep it up!
Patiently waiting on part 2 and the new iguana enclosure videos. May need a new Tom to get these pumped out faster lol. I mean me, of course. Love you guys. Happy Holidays
Kenan! I love what you do and I’d love to do something similar when I’m older! I love your personality and your vids are awesome! Ps. I love bikes too :)
Do you keep count of how many turtles and tortoises you have in the areas. Like by the pond?? Also aren't you scared of stepping on a burrowed turtle. Love the videos and also @Paul love your videos too. Keep doing what your doing guys
The domestic pig originates from the Eurasian wild boar (Sus scrofa). We have sequenced mitochondrial DNA and nuclear genes from wild and domestic pigs from Asia and Europe. Clear evidence was obtained for domestication to have occurred independently from wild boar subspecies in Europe and Asia. Great vidoe Kenan, hope to meet you someday.
I've searched about the pigs, it says that basically domesticated pigs are from wild boars (Sus scrofa) but there are many wild boars native to eurasia, africa and greater sunda islands
Is it just me or are you all waiting for the pond I'm in England and seriously thinking of coming over with a shovel to get this going fyi I do ponds in uk
11:18 if the new pond is big put Orlitia Borneensis (Malaysian Giant Turtle) in it.. so you can see him everyday.. (he do M.I.A for 10 years, then you find & place him at other smaller pond at your backyard)
I can't get over the fact of how small these ponds are. Don't get me wrong. I live the content. Watched all the builds for Kenan, Paul and Blake. They all look so small.
Quick599 We Design our water Features according to the size and layout of the property, their goals for the pond and the budget. We actually hit the edge of his septic system and we had to make an adjustment in the positioning and size of the pond. We are currently in the process of designing a large pond for the back of Kamp Kenan. This new pond will be huge because we have the room to make it work! Stay tuned!!!!
@@edbeaulieu5916 Didn't think i would get an answer from the man himself. I'll be looking to build a large pond for my turtles (6) in about two years. Will need it to be deep because of the frost line here ~6 feet. What would be a good size?
Quick599 6’ frost line?!?! Where do you live? Most turtles that live in Northern climates have developed a variety of different survival strategies for hibernation. It’s not necessarily the depth of the pond but rather the right habitat that allows them to properly hibernate. Different species of aquatic plants, logs and stumps that transition from the land into the water large boulders, etc.... The goal is to replicate the habitat to allow them to thrive.
@@edbeaulieu5916About 30 minutes west of Montreal, Canada. Just looked it up and it's actually 4.5 feet according to the building code. I could swear it said 6' last time I checked. lol
Quick599 That’s similar to Chicago, you’ll have no problem with keeping Turtles there. I’ve personally never built a pond in the Montreal area but I have done a lot in Canada! The unique thing about ponds is that a 24”-30” deep pond will not freeze solid in Montreal where you have a 4.5’ frost zone. I’ve done multiple tests at our office and we average between 9”-12” of ice thickness in the middle of winter! You can drive a truck on 12” of Ice. But water has many unique properties and one of them is it’s freezing point as it relates to its density. Every liquid known to man increases its density as it cools down to the point of freezing. Water on the other hand becomes less dense just before it freezes! This is why Ice floats..... If water did not behave like this our lakes and oceans would freeze from the bottom to the top which would have a dramatic impact on Earth as we know it..... Ice is actually a great insulator and it creates a barrier between the colder air and the warmer water beneath it, this allows our aquatic inhabitants to survive the cold winter temps. Good luck with your pond!
A pig is any of the animals in the genus Sus, within the even-toed ungulate family Suidae. Pigs include the domestic pig and its ancestor, the common Eurasian wild boar (Sus scrofa), along with other species. Related creatures outside the genus include the peccary, the babirusa, and the warthog. Pigs, like all suids, are native to the Eurasian and African continents.
Finally someone telling Pond guys they want it large and more depth.....much better for fish and aquatics and for viewing pleasure.. they build aesthetic looking ponds but not that practical for viewing and keeping larger fish
Do something different maybe fish native to florida or brackish water. Or maybe all fish that are algae eaters so you van have a bigger pond then just 8x12 or lots of filter type fish
I appreciate you not only for the respectful way you treat your animals, but also for the respectful way you treat younger people. Pond is awesome!
Soon you’ll have a mote!!! “I ❤️ MY JOB!”
See you, AGAIN, in Feb!!!
GREEEEEEEEEEEEEG! love your werk bud
