No, the mirror is actually how you look and how others see you, not an electrical device. It makes no difference that you're seeing a mirror image of yourself. Cameras tend to add a lot of depth to your face, thus making every bump or imperfection look 3 times the size they should be. It also distorts the proportions of your face depending on the distance you are from the lens. Very educational video. The part about needing to step back 5 feet when taking pictures so they dont widen your features explains why the mirror selfies I take look better than the pictures I take while holding the phone at arm's length.
The mirror is geometrically accurate and most people look at it from half the normal distance for every situation. It doubles the distance so it is how you look to others when they are looking at you face to face.

Nah I have a mole on the left by my nose and whe I take a selfie it's on the right I believe the mirror is accurate. With the lends it depends how you angle.
Anyone who is familiar with photography knows what focal length and depth of field does to an image. The cameras in phones are set like a wide angle lens. That way you get a greater depth of field which is what the manufacturers would want because you have no ability to focus the camera. That's great for landscapes but lousy for portraiture....especially at close range which is exactly the way most people use these cameras. It distorts the face elongating the nose and basically exaggerating the features as if you were looking through a peep hole in an apartment door. It is not what the eye sees. Better to take your face shot from more of a distance and then zoom and crop the image.
Dude all mirror does is reverse your image, not alter your face shape or features, so if u have a perfect face in mirror then irl u have perfect face too
Consider having someone take photos of you with a full frame camera that has a 50mm lens mounted. If the photographer has an APSC sensor camera they need to mount a 30mm lens. If the photographer has a micro four thirds, ask them to mount a 25mm lens. These will all achieve the same look as your mirror image (without the reflection of your face; and from any angle and pose you desire). Simply put, the photo will look like the way others see you in real life. To find the appropriate lens, know the camera’s approximate “crop factor”.

A possible explanation may be that mirror photos, the subject is prepared for them and can adjust their facial expressions. But mirrors are often going to have curvature, especially cheap, thin ones, and exaggerate features. A typical problem I notice is excessive widening of the face/body. Another problem with some mirrors, is that they don't reflect the proper light back, making one either two dark or with the wrong hue.

But I don't trust smartphones due to their AI trickery. *Now about choosing your face side:* The side to which your nose tip is tilted or the side with a smaller eye is the side you should face the camera. Smaller eye side is more important than nose tilt or side with the hair part while choosing you photogenic face side. *But as a rule of thumb to choose your face side:* Smaller eye side > Nose tilt side > Hair part side > Strong jaw side. *It's generally the left side of your face that's more photogenic as per science as the right brain controls the left side and it's more expressive as a result.* But the above aspect I stated is more important along with this. *Btw, as per science, people look at your right side of the face the most due to looking left bias of our right brain.* Lastly, it's not the face shape but facial symmetry and facial features that makes a beautiful face. Golden ratio stuff basically. *Unsymmetrical faces can also be beautiful depending on the facial features.* Cheers 🥂

One of the reasons why we can look better in our mirrors or some other mirror ( like pubic bathrooms such as restaurants, etc ) is because of the lighting. Looking YASS and looking into a crappy florescent lit bathroom at some rest stop may make you cringe. It's all about lighting and most of us have good lighting in our bathrooms.
Yo simply ask yourself how often when you’re out and about about does someone face look distinctly asymmetrical to you and the answer is rarely…if ever. The same applies to you and what you see in the mirror. Our brains naturally correct for minor asymmetries in the face. The only reason we get shocked by the inverted filter is because our brains aren’t use to seeing and correct for our face that way.

The back camera of a phone provides a more accurate representation of how you appear to others in real life. Mirrors show a reversed image of yourself, which can be different from what people see. Here are the key points: - **Back Camera**: Captures your image as others see you, providing a true-to-life representation. - **Mirror**: Shows a reversed or mirrored image, which can be different from your true appearance. Therefore, for an accurate depiction of how you look to others, the back camera is the better option.

Mirror image is actually accurate i asked all my family members they said i look same irl
If more people new this there would be alot less sucide rates

No it isn't its only for all the 12 yr old who are growing up with terms like "mogging", "mewing", "looksmaxxing",etc... Typical brainrot 😂
Certainly better than Brett Maverick's one.
Means a lot, thanks! Shoutout Brett
Ok but why do I look different in different mirrors ? Light refraction ? Size of the mirror ? WHAT ????
Its lighting and quality of mirr,or every mirror create with different things the ,flat mirror is the most accurate:')
When you take a selfie with your phone, the image is initially displayed as a mirror image, which is how you're used to seeing yourself and how others see u in real life. However, once the photo is taken, many phones reverse the image to match how others see you in person, and this is wrong because no one sees you as the phone reverses you, when we interact with people in real life, they see us as we see ourselves in the mirror

-Back camera of Mobile shows your real face but it creates your parts bigger than it seems in real life.

*Just take a 85mm/90mm lens mugshot to see the real you or to see what other people see when they see you.*
If you have a smartphone with a 3x telephoto lens, they generally have a 77mm lens so still very close to the real thing. But I don't trust smartphones due to their AI trickery.
*Now about choosing your face side:*
The side to which your nose tip is tilted or the side with a smaller eye is the side you should face the camera.
*Btw, as per science, people look at your right side of the face the most due to looking left bias of our right brain.*
Lastly, it's not the face shape but facial symmetry and facial features that makes a beautiful face. Golden ratio stuff basically.
*Unsymmetrical faces can also be beautiful depending on the facial features.*
Cheers 🥂

So the way I look in the mirror is how PPL see Me in my photos ??? Do they notice the symmetrical flaws that we see in the photos ?
They don't notice it since their brain doesn't recognize it ass odd - unlike you who see the image as "flipped".

So... couldn't you just stand with someone by a mirror and see for yourself how the mirror distorts or does not distort someone's image? We see the same things reflected in the mirror as anyone else whether it's ourselves or someone else.

okay I understand that the mirror flips everything, but if I used 2 mirrors and it wasn't flipped...
then would that be accurate? or is it true that I make up some things with my brain when looking at myself in the mirror? am I uglier irl than in the "non flipped version" mirror?
But the image we see in mirrors is the reverse one compared to how people see us in real life. So the image we see ourselves in mirros is not how people see us irl. It is all wrong guys😅
In a world where most people are obsessed with selfies and posting photos of themselves everywhere on social media, I highly doubt this is true for everyone anymore.

Idk about ur mirror but when I lift my right arm I see my right arm lol and when I do my left.
Yes but if someone looks at you at the other side where the mirror is then when you lift your right arm it will be your left arm in reality that you are raising
The best experiment would be to use a true mirror so that you get a proper conprehension
Pubic bathrooms? 😂
I look fat in pictures without my shirt on, but when I see myself in the mirror or reflections while at the water park etc, I look hella good 😂
Great video I learned a lot thanks
Appreciate it! :)
Godbless everyone Amen
Great analysis and very informative video. Subscribed. 👏
Instruction unclear: i look different in different mirrors
The image from the camera always makes you fatter because the lens, the image in the mirror is always more beautiful because it is an inverted image. When I create a hairstyle that looks good in the mirror, I redo it in the opposite direction.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You hold all the power. Just keep telling yourself in the mirror you are so lovely. Personally personality overrides image all the time. Be kind and patient and nice to others and smile at them to make them feel good. You will forget about yourself and focus on others thereby being happy and o so lovely 🎉❤
The back camera of a phone provides a more accurate representation of how you appear to others in real life. Mirrors show a reversed image of yourself, which can be different from what people see. Here are the key points:
- **Back Camera**: Captures your image as others see you, providing a true-to-life representation.
- **Mirror**: Shows a reversed or mirrored image, which can be different from your true appearance.
Therefore, for an accurate depiction of how you look to others, the back camera is the better option.
Well, none of this applies to me, cos I’m good looking anyway 😬

Most of it is cap.
When comparing a camera vs our eyes, we humans have two eyes and there’s a paralax effect. When we look at something, our biological camera lens is about 10cm in diameter. The best camera ever.
