Busy kids everywhere. Summertime spent with Grandmother, lots of hard work!

- I was kept busy today ... keeping up with working kids ALL OVER THE RANCH! Usually we have a job that keeps us all in one place.. but not today .. and DARN IT .. I missed video taping Justin (my son in law) digging up an outside water faucet in preparation of installing a frost free faucet... but I will catch him when he works on it the next time!
Yes ... the kids DO get playtime ... but they will never forget the many hard hours of work they put in; helping maintain the ranch!
Lucky! What I wouldn't do to be on a ranch with my kiddos.
Me too id love it ......are.all of the kids your grandkids ...these babies are learning what it is like to work and thats awesome...my oldest just got a job and Lord have mercy he talks about his feet hurting all the time lol ...

Pam there used to be a somebody that built things here for me ... seems he dumped them everywhere when he was working .. I guess to prove he had been at work .. I even threatened to tie magnets to his overalls !
What state are ya in? I'm in Oregon, it isn't quite as dry looking
New Mexico High desert Prairie ... we just got our first real rain in 18 months ! It was awesome ... now we have standing water in the low spot of my 200 acres .. and the desert toads have emerged, singing a croaking song all night long!
Yes Ms Mccoy, I live in New Mexico .. and although I have been very busy keeping up with my Granddaughters dive into the County Fair, FFA, Theatrical Arts, and public school in general; since she has come to live with me for a while .. I SHOULD have been posting about the rain we have had here for the last month and a half.. it has been WONDERFUL .. raining almost every day ... our 7 year drought seems to be a thing of the past ... our pastures are green and lush .. ( So lush in fact I have had to remove my Miss Black Pearl ( heifer) from it to the corral to keep her from "foundering" ) The toads bury deep into the soil .. sometimes only coming to the surface for a few hours / days of rain to breed .. then they return to the depths of the prairie. Oddly enough .. we have had very few rattlesnakes this year .. I usually kill between 7 and 10 or 12 every season .. I finally saw a bull snake ( I don't kill them) on my driveway last week .. so I am keeping my eyes peeled now for rattlers.. it could just be the heavy rains that have kept them all at bay this year. Thanks so much for spending some time with us on the ranch .. its good to see someone coming to visit that stays a while! ...
