    Absolutely true I used to push myself hard because I had stamina but I over worked my knees and I couldn't even walk, now I run only 3 times a week, 30 minutes each, with rest in between, long and steady wins the race

    • @Pedro-of4tn
      @Pedro-of4tn Год назад +4

      Yeah, as an overweight person, I try to walk and anyone can try walking instead of running. You might be able to walk 3 miles instead of only being able to run 1 mile, or you might be able to run 3 miles but do you want to risk injury or overtraining yourself?.

    • @somebody1291

      @@Pedro-of4tn u might also consider cycling it really makes you lose weight and you don't have to deal with joints injuries

      @@somebody1291 Thank you for the suggestion. I do think that cycling can be a very nice way of not only losing weight but also being used as a method of transportation, a way to be outside and to not have some of the negatives of running. Though I do remember when I used to ride an electric bicycle on full throttle. There was a time when I was going outside more (which was nice) but my legs felt like they were weaker, because I would frequently leave my home on the electric bicycle without walking much, if at all. I know that there are electric bicycles that allow you to use pedal assist, but even then, and even of regular bicycles, a person's legs can become weaker if the muscles are not used normally. As long as you don't fully forsake walking to an extent or running to an extent, using a bicycle to lose weight is overall a good option to use.

      Well just rest n don't used your knees as much as you can I think some people heal slower maybe your body's need more time to heal so maybe take like half a year to completely heal. But easiest way would be go see a doctor have them xray see if it's a bone or muscle tissue

  • @conormcgregor7325
    @conormcgregor7325 Год назад

    I don’t agree entirely. There are variables for a person on why they should avoid running. Such as age, BMI and
    But I do agree, every body who is capable, should be running or working towards to get back to running (prehab/rehab).
    If you have knee pain from running, like he said, is a result of bad form. Most likely your foot is striking a bit too forward which will stress your knee over time. Not only does it make your joints vulnerable, it’s slowing your time. You should be gliding smoothly and being efficient but instead the overreach foot kills it a bit.
    So how to fix these;
    1) soft tissue work on the over used quads
    2) start doing strength. Since quad is being over used, focus on your posterior chain like hamstrings stuff or dead lift.
    So more importantly fix form so it doesn’t come back.
