I have lost the cup that came along. Can you please tell how many grams of rice does the cup accommodate?

This is my first rice cooker and the one thing i found really annoying and confusing was the whole cup measuring, like when you say "3 cups" of rice, a cup is 250ml but the cup supplied is only 160ml so before i found this video i thought you had to measure the 250mls out by hand.

I've been making curries abs stews,
You set to quick cook function to fry veg and meats,
Add liquids and cancel quick cook then press the function like stew takes about 1.5 to 2 hrs to cook stew.
      Or 2 hrs goat curry.
Just cook as you normally do.
      Marion Grasby has some recepies.
      Super easy.

why does it take so long to cook the rice? white rice takes about 15-20min on the stovetop so why is it so long with the rice cooker? also, doesn't it use a lot of electricity that way?

    • @PhilipsHomeLiving
      @PhilipsHomeLiving  10 месяцев назад +1

Hi, thanks for reaching out with your concerns about the Digital Rice Cooker 3000 Series. The cooking time for white rice in our rice cookers is indeed longer than the stovetop method. This is because our rice cookers use advanced technology to ensure that rice is cooked evenly and thoroughly, which enhances the texture and flavor. The 'keep warm' function also ensures your rice stays at the perfect temperature until you're ready to serve, without the need for constant monitoring. Regarding electricity consumption, our rice cookers are designed to be energy-efficient, consuming minimal electricity, especially when compared to the total energy used for cooking and maintaining heat on a stovetop. If you have any more questions or require further assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us through the support page on our website or through one of our Social Media channels.

You're never going to get the rice as perfect on the stove as you can in the rice cooker - for that reason.

If your doing white rice then fill it up to the amount of cups you put in.
Wash your rice really well until the water runs clear.
Press the rice your cooking and its done.

      Depends on the rice
I use medium it's one cup rice one cup water I use the cup from rice cooker
Long grain white rice - 1:1.75 ratio (1 cup rice + 1 3/4 cups water)
Medium grain white rice - 1:1.5 ratio (1 cup rice + 1 1/2 cups water)
Short grain white rice - 1:1.5 ratio (1 cup rice + 1 1/2 cups water)
Long grain brown rice - 1:2.25 ratio (1 cup rice + 2 1/4 cups water)
Let it stand for 5min on warm then fluff.
      Try these as a guide
      I hope it helps.

Thank you for contacting us. We are sorry to hear that your Philips Digital Rice Cooker 3000 Series (HD4518) is not working as expected. We understand how frustrating it can be to have gluggy rice. We want to help you resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Please try the following steps to troubleshoot your rice cooker:
      - Make sure you are using the correct type and amount of rice for your rice cooker. Different types of rice may require different amounts of water and cooking time. You can refer to the user manual for the recommended rice and water ratio.
      - Make sure you rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking. Rinsing the rice can remove excess starch and prevent the rice from sticking together.
      - Make sure you use the measuring cup and the inner pot that came with your rice cooker. Using different utensils may affect the accuracy of the measurements and the cooking performance.
      - Make sure you select the appropriate cooking mode for your rice. Your rice cooker has different modes for white rice, brown rice, multigrain, etc. You can press the menu button to choose the mode that matches your rice type.
If you have tried these steps and your rice is still gluggy, please contact us again via this chat. We will be happy to assist you further and provide you with a suitable solution. Thank you for choosing Philips.

Thanks for your reply Philips, i appreciate you taking the time to respond. I have tried all of the suggestions you made, I am using the measuring cup provided and the water level marks inside the bowl. I have tried different types of rice, and I always rinse well first. I’m sorry but it just isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do. Before I got this cooker, I was using a cheap one which always cooked perfect rice.

Hi there, thanks for your input to my dilemma. I only use long grain white rice either Jasmin ir Basmati. I’ve had some luck with the Basmati if I cook it on the short cycle, but no matter what I try with the Jasmine it is ALWAYS gluggy and awful. I’ve even removed the plate in the lid to make sure it isn’t blocked. I think I’ve got a dud.

Try the water ratios I provided.
It's not the time issue it's possibly too much water.
I'll try long grain and jasmin on the weekend.
