Nem hiszem hogy az életemből fogok hallani egy ilyen zongoraművészt mint Cziffra György fantasztikus A jó isten nyugtassa békében büszke vagyok arra hogy magyar cigány zenész vagyok
I love how honest Cziffra was - you have to work hard. There are no secrets to mastering the piano. You have to work smart of course, but you have to work hard as well. I'm learning French myself and I can testify to the fact that although there are secrets to learning the language faster, nothing but hard work will help you achieve real fluency. The same goes for anything in life.
I'm working on english subtitles for this vid, hopping to post them soon Edit: it's done! There are some excerpts where I really can't hear what is being said but I tried overall to be as close as possible to what Cziffra says and to the way he says it. Formatting is inconsistent because I've never done subtitles before
@@ClassicalPianoRarities Working on it! It takes way longer than expected as Cziffra has a sometimes strong accent and clunky phrasing in French, I have to listen several times and still sometimes miss some words. I will try to deliver today!
26:39 The professor is not Ferencsik, he is György Ferenczy! He was an excellent pianist, with a taste for Chopin, Liszt and even the Baroque composers. He discovered Cziffra - together with Tamás Vásáry - as a bar pianist in the Kedves presszó.
Awsome! He laid his hand on Ferenc Liszt's plaster-cast hand in the Liszt museum. It was a private flat of Liszt, it's the initial Academy of Music, if I right remember, but I'm sure he tought here.
The piano professor whom Cziffra is talking about (and who is seen sitting next to him) at 26:36-26:55 is György Ferenczy, NOT János Ferencsik. (Ferencsik was a conductor.)
Great documentary! Thank you so much for putting the effort and subtitling the whole thing. One correction, if I may, at 26'40, Cziffra talks about György Ferenczy who was teaching at the Liszt Academy. He calls him Georges Ferenczy a few seconds later. So he's not referring to the famous conductor János Ferencsik. Here's a link to some Chopin by Ferenczy: ruclips.net/video/t-ARLu-_7Mo/видео.html
@@ClassicalPianoRarities ...but isn't that his son (György Cziffra Jr., conductor; the one who interviews him here and later died tragically in an apartment fire)?

György Cziffra is the the greatest Instrumentalist I have ever listend to.
Yeah, I think so

Absolutely.
You could practice until you were blue in the face, and still come nowhere near Cziffra.
@@peace-nowI don't think Cziffra would have said something like that and I don't think we have a right to say something as discouraging as that.
A wonderful portrait of a wonderful human being 🌹
Magnificent portrait of Emperor Georges !
A very good summary of his life, even if no mention of the horrible forties for him...

@@ClassicalPianoRarities Hey, any idea why the subtitles don't show up? It's the first time I've done this so maybe I missed something!

Genius of the piano !!!🙏🙏
He lost his son too soon 😩😩

Belle journée de jeudi!🎹🎼🎼🎹
Great documentary, with very gentle, moving performance of the Schubert Impromptu. Often, the big virtuoso murder these pieces.
I like conversation between Cziffra and his wife Soleilka after a concert. The greatest genius turn into a timid boy in front of wife😭

One of Greatest and Dénes Kovács is one of the greatest violinist!!!
So touch, thanks for sharing.
Lovely, intimate portrait of an outstanding artist
He said at 17:48: "...Dénes Kovács, the director of the Academy"
He was a great violinist.

That hand is huge! I don’t believe Liszt’s hands were that big! I saw another Liszt hand in Budapest which was large but not insane as this one.

supreme
Does anybody know the name of the pieces that were played in the Budapest bar at 26:55?
Most kezdődik, most kezdődik a tánc is the first one. I don't know the second one.
It was Cziffra, and the others.
We are always searching for more Cziffra material.....

The part with the clown was creepy
At about 34:33, the dummy piano piece is the finale of Schumann's symphonic etudes?
Most definitely
Yes.
He was overcome by the litle guy (knows somebody him?) at 17:30.
That thumbnail..
What does he play at 3:44
Mika Patti Liszt Hungarian Fantasy. A staple in his repertoire.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
15:49 I think he's saying "The little beauty" but I'm not so sure...
What's the piece on violin that's played at 27:10
Most kezdődik, Most kezdődik a tánc.
