My dad remembers the feasting lions left around the time of "The Lion King."

they still have the lion scene but it's way less graphic now they are far back in a cave just hovering over the Zebra and the skippers line says something like "Ah they are watching over that sleeping Zebra" lol

If you love vintage tiki, you might enjoy some of this Disney related trivia fact…
By June of 1959, Exotica was the number one album on the charts and it stayed there for over four consecutive weeks. Soon it was used as background music by choreographers for aquacades, ice shows and became a frequent favorite of Chinese and Polynesian restaurants. Even Disneyland started using it for the entrance to its Jungle River Boat ride (The jungle Cruise). But, perhaps the most unusual place Exotica was heard was on the U.S.S. Nautilus where it became the crew's favorite record during their historic journey as the first submarine to go beneath the North Pole.

It has evolved through the years though. This was a very early version of it.

@@MrPollitogatito It became something of a parody of itself, with the Skippers making quips and jokes about pretty much everything in the ride.

It's amazingly loco to take something normal and natural, like a pride of lions eating their prey, and remove it from the main part of the ride. You see worse on PBS or Discovery Channel nature television shows. I wish things today didn't need to be changed into something more wholesome, bland, or less offensive ... simply for fear of ruffling the feathers of the pearl-clutching wimps who can't handle real life.
It's as bad as when people start to cancel or hide things-- like Dr. Seuss cartoon picture books. Leave them available to the public! They weren't drawn last week, for crying out loud. And, strangely, the film "Song of the South" gets locked away in a vault forevermore while "Gone with the Wind" (a much more incendiary movie) is always available to watch. GWTW actually _should_ be accessible, because hiding it would be like pretending slavery didn't happen in America. Just cuckoo, all of this. Before you know it, pop culture will be a desolate wasteland with only scant offerings of hyper-sensitive rubbish. Pathetic.

@@robertbreschard3493 I know, they're a bit notorious for censorship and erasing things-- from bits in Fantasia to Pecos Bill's smoking. It's annoying. Companies need to stop catering to snowflakes and wussies.
