A handy t-track adaptor set. But the film isn't very realistic. Fitting the bolts on the closed side of the box would require a ladder or a friendly giant. I am almost 2 meters tall, but I needed a chair for height. Still, I am looking forward fixing the roofbox on my new car.

Hi and thanks for the comment. With a single side-opening box, depending on the size of the box, your right, it can bea bit of a stretch to attach the wing nuts to the closed side. Obviously you would fit the opening side of the box closest to that outside edge of the roof bars. This not only makes fitting a lot easier, it also makes loading and unloading your gear very easy. Opening the car door and standing on the door sill generally works for most people whilst fitting. Of course this isn’t a
problem for our dual side opening roof boxes. The great thing about the T-track fittings is that you can use the whole length of the roof bars that can leave more room for accessories.

Do you completely remove the rubber strip out of the track and not put it back?

It depends on which roof bars you have. This video shows the older style Thule wing bars, which are supplied with rubber strips that you can cut to fit. The new Thule wing bar Evo and Yakima roof bars are supplied with rubber inserts that don't have to be removed when using T-track adapters.

The Roof Box Company it’s BMW’s own roofbar, looks like the rubber strip could be pushed down far enough to fit in the adapter without removing it. But would I better off just taking the rubber out?

We couldn't say for sure without seeing an image of your roof bars. The best thing to do would be to email us a picture and one of our team can give you a definitive answer. info@roofbox.co.uk
