Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ruclips.net/user/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.
"It looked really good, so I had to buy a couple".......isn't that how it works and before you know it you have a giant collection. The life of a fisherman, lol.
How do you only have 100 comments on thia video, any of your videos. You do a great job brother, you are an excellent and knowledgeable angler and a lot more people should be watching these vids. Great job man, keep it up!
Hey Rich really enjoy your vids bro. Super authentic, enthusiastic reactions. Aside from your obvious fishing knowledge the way you explain what and why without condescending stuff is super cool. I've not kayak fished before but you have piqued my interest.
I’m literally watching this while anchored up on my kayak with cut bait out for some sharks lol. Caught way too many trout and ladyfish already so some chill time is ok.
@@peternguyen9602 no, unfortunately wind started blowing consistently 25-30 and chased us off the water. Blowing so hard we kept dragging anchor. Check out my fishing channel Shaun Diggity Fishing for the last kayak shark trip.
@@Dink_master_fishing no unfortunately. Conditions there turned pretty gnarly with 25-30 winds. Check out my fishing channel Shaun Diggity Fishing. I have some great fishing content on there and some shark trips on the kayak.
Hey Fishaholic love your content, I have a request, can u do a video where you fly fish the st lucie river and try to catch your regular targeted species. Thanks
Nice fishing buddy 👍👍👍. Since you are by vero, head to the Sebastian inlet, fish by the closed pier and you will catch nice snook, grouper and even black drum. Fine a ramp and go for it in your kayak or boat.
Nice trout catch, Rich. I was trout fishing up here in Virginia like for 3-4 hours in 51 degree water. Caught 4 of them. 18,19,20 and 25 1/2 incher. Kept the three smaller for the table and released the big one of course.
Nice video ! Just got a Hobie Pa 12 took it out yesterday in new Smyrna area but couldn’t get on no fish on the flats. Spooked a few nice trout maybe I should’ve had a mullet out the back
Thanks! Glad you got out in the new rig! Hopefully you’ll get them next time. I did have a lot of bites out the back with a live mullet but I think I should have been using lighting line from the start and I would have hooked up more with it.
@@FishAholicTV yeah i think I should’ve switched down to a lighter leader cause the water was so clear that day. I’m still learning, I’m used to throwing live bait on like a fish finder rig. Still getting the hang of artificial
Awesome! I haven’t ever really seen anything to big here. But my buddy said during the mullet run there were a lot of big Tarpon and Jack around which makes more sense. But there is a ton of bait there right now so I’m sure big fish still creep in there.
Just a heads up. You don’t need to let the fish eat longer you need to set the hook quicker. That’s why you’re catching more fish down in the throat rather than in the lip like they need to be. Love the content man
Do you notice less strikes using that tactical clip? I’ve been wanting to give em a try for ease of switching baits, but I’m curious if it deters a bite.
Hey, I’m new to the channel but was wondering if you have a video of how you put your kayak on your truck? I’m also a car topper and it’s basically the only thing that keeps me off the water.
Love the videos, just one recommendation though. Make sure to wet your hands before handling the trout, their skin is very prone to infection after being touched by dry hands and can result in the fish dying. Keep up the good work and looking forward to more videos!
Thanks gage, yeah I know it may be hard to see in the video but when in the kayak my hands are constantly wet and slimy from touching the bait, and getting splashed. Also the net is a rubber net to protect from removing slime. Anyway, tight lines!
Has anyone been up by Sebastian inlet in the river? Wondering how the water is. Last time I was there was after the hurricane and the water stunk so bad it burned my nose cause the sewage that got dumped in. I’m coming back down the beginning of may and hoping it’s cleared up
I have both and the pro angler is definitely easier and more stable to stand in but the outback is better all around for rougher water and windy days, the pro angler is not very stable in wind. That’s just my experience.
@@BJJandBS I guess it depends on what type of fishing you do and where. I would probably roll with the outback because you don’t wanna be too top heavy in the pro angler, no offense! You can sit low in the pro angler, but it’s still not nearly as stable in the inshore offshore world as the outback. Also, the outback is a little bit lighter Hopefully you have a dealer near you that I’ll allow you to demo both of them
Thanks Alex!! It’s a Hobie mirage outback 2018 model. Which in my opinion I think it is the best model. You should check on Facebook marketplace for a used one. Or look up a local dealer and maybe check out the new ones and you make like them. They all work really well for fishing.
Lol, it was a TA clip not a snap swivel and generally I do tie direct. Small topwater sometimes it doesn’t make a difference especially for trout, redfish, Jack crevalle, striped bass, bluefish etc. It depends on the bite. I’ve learned that from fishing from Maine to the Florida keys and every state in between for the last 20+years and 300+ outings a year. On this day I wanted to change lures quick and fish the topwater quick to see what was around. I was more or less using it as a search lure to find them even if I didn’t catch a fish on it. Just one bite then slow it down and dial in with small soft plastics like I did. I haven’t fished the spot in months so I didn’t know what the fish were doing. For Snook with lures and hooks w/ live bait I always tie direct because I’ve found them to be very finicky. But thanks for your input and tight lines. Catch you on the water and tight lines!
Love your videos lol but I cringed when you didn’t wet your hands on the trout lol how dare you!? Lol jk again love your videos man; your spots are always mouth watering lol I need to get my kayak back. 😢
Hahaha 🤣 you had me for a sec. Yeah the rubber net supposedly helps them and my hands are constantly wet from touching the bait, net, and getting splashed. I think these fish will be fine. Get your kayak back and get out there!
I have watched tons of your shows. I happen to be florida breed. I'm impressed with your skill but I promise we have wisdom we'd love to share. Please reach out
i do not care for bait runners. they were all the rage 20+ years ago when chunking was pretty much all anyone was doing and live bait was hard to come by. they gut hooked fish like no other and they're kind of a hands off approach to fishing that i have never cared for. i think in perfect spots they may be ideal, like when you target freshwater species who respond best to live bait and hold their prey and take a while to eat, but that is not the kind of fishing that i do.
Just a heads up. It’s TERRIBLE to net sea trout. It ruins their slime coat. Next time try wetting your hands and landing it. Especially if you’re releasing them
Hmmm I thought that’s why we use rubber nets now days to protect their slime coat. That’s what I’m using in this video and being in a kayak and constantly handling bait my hands are always wet and slimy. Also I’ve been fishing my whole life and I am use to handling precious little freshwater trout from fishing back country wild trout streams. I try to handle every fish as gently as I handled those little trout back in the day. If they flip out of my hands that’s sometimes outside of my control and part of fishing. Tight Lines and thanks for watching.
@@FishAholicTV I hear ya. Im born and raised down here so Im not blowing smoke or hating. The trout have tiny scales so even a rubber net destroys them. If you wet your hand and lay it flat they fold over flat like a snook. Much easier to get the hook out that way. Our sea trout population has been decimated the past few years so just trying to help and inform the newbies that just moved down here 👍
