Just got one, brand new, great gorgeous colour, different from all I have had in my entire life (72 years and used to traditional colours), I feel a little weired holding it but I have to admit it is so pretty! And it came with good set up, good intonation, no frets issuse, no buzzing, medium low set up, and no noises at all. The price is great, there is no way to be a win win guitar. Loved it. And I have had MIM, USA, etc etc guitars in my life.
It feels a little weird because you and I come from the same era and colors like this were thought of as girly. How our dictatorial society messes with our minds. I love the color. I have a pink comforter and if anyone comes in and remarks about how girly it is will leave with a pink nose. 😂
Used to love the Bullet Series, usually pretty good guitars for the price. They’ll teach you a thing or two about working on guitars as well. Great upgrade platform.
I wanted a tele a couple of years ago so I bought a Bullet. I didn't want to go all-in, in case I didn't bond with the telecaster shape, and I'm very happy with the quality of such an affordable guitar. I suppose I got lucky because there was nothing at all that required attention. There's plenty I could upgrade, but nothing that had to be. If I were a beginner, it would be the perfect 1st guitar.
@@castleanthrax1833 Agreed man. I have a Bullet Tele in sparkle red that the previous owner ‘Nashville” modded with a Strat pickup in the middle. The fret sprout is pretty gnarly but nothing a couple files couldn’t fix. Sounds really good.
These sonic series strats are fun and good for their prices (especially when they’re on sale) and not to mention, they come in so many cool colors. I got the pink and yellow hardtail sonics with the intention of modding them. Might cop a black one or the coral down the line if they ever go on sale and mod them. Awesome demonstration video.
Thanks for touching on this series! I’m super new playing. My daughter got that exact guitar and loves it! I’m thinking of getting the graffiti yellow hard tail strat you had in a short video. Did that yellow one have routing for humbuckers? That’s for the great content and laughs as well!
I bought an unbranded Glarry from Ebay and upgraded it slightly with a bone nut, new Slinkys, and did a setup on it. Total cost $78 US. It is my number two Strat behind my $150 Cozart which I did not have to upgrade or setup. I started out playing real Fenders back in the 70's. The cheap copies I have now are just as good IMO.
I purchased this guitar my first got the black one then switched out the pickups with a pre wired setup from white to a black and chrome with a humbler bridge love it
I can't tell if thats pink or, like, red-orange. It's a little too neon to qualify as coral. I really like the color. It wouldn't look anywhere as good if it had a non-maple fretboard.
I got one a couple months ago and upgraded the volume pot to 500k and popped a DiMarzio Tone Zone into the bridge and it's awesome sauce. Great ax, does the job for me.
I got unlucky with those, I went to try them at my local store and there were woodchips off the side of the fretboard, burnt marks around the pickguard from cutting ? the pickguard would lift here and there , I was sad cause I really wanted to like it, but I found a purple kramer baretta special for 20$ cdn less and I left with that. The one in your video looks flawless and sounds great!

I'm dropping in a sss preloaded high quality system with a tone blender pot. So you can say I bought it for the color, plus I already have a Fender American Special HSS.
I got one of the single pick up pink ones a month or two ago. The routing in that is pretty good. It's certainly smoother than that one you've got. Also routed for three humbuckers. With a few sheckles chucked at it, it's really nice.

You should get the Sonic Mustang SS, I got the red one. I know you liked the Bullet, the Sonic is even better. Only thing is the Sonic Mustang doesn't have the contour body cutouts that the Bullet has. It's more like the Player Mustang. I put locking tuners, roller trees, red metal knobs and a white pearl pickguard on mine. Also shimmed the neck to pitch it back slightly like you're supposed to with any short scale offset.
@ Landon Bailey I totally agree with on the Fender Squire line of guitars. For the money you can't beat em with A stick. That coral pink strat is a perfect guitar for a young player putting together his (or her) first serious project. Back in my day we all started out the Swedish made Hagstroms. Young guitarists today have a much greater range of economic instruments to choose from. Landon, do you know if the Squire series includes like a Persion bass? sonic series seems to be squires comeback i saw dave simpson try out a sonic strat he had nothing but good things to say i might just pick one up as a project base
Are the shield holes compatible with other shields? I want to change the pickguard and pickups on this guitar, but I'm not sure if they will be compatible. I'm going to add a Fleor kit from Aliexpress.
I have to be honest, they look like fun guitars but, they suffer from the two deficiencies I really don't like. 21 frets and a 9.5" radius. I have a MIM Strat that I've had for 20 years. It only had 21 frets and a 9.5" radius. Earlier this year I changed the neck to one with 22 frets and 12"radius. I've played it more in the last six months than in the last 6 years. This is a great guitar, just not for me.
This was a great guitar, I bought the exact same one but I ripped it apart and replaced everything. I got a Fender Roasted Maple Neck that I had so I put that in, added a Lipstick Humbucker at the bridge, A Hot Rail in the middle and then I bought a mint green HSH guard and put a TV Jones Power' Tron in the neck position. Then I added that Seymour Duncan Hyper Switch to mess with all the pickup settings. Added Fender Locking Tuners and a Fender Trem, and upgraded the pots as well. It looks like Frankenstein, but I love it. The roasted maple neck goes really well with the coral finish, and the mint pick guard looks good too (which I wasn't sure it would). Before I did all that though, I played the guitar a fair bit and was really impressed. My first guitar ever was like a 1998 Squier Strat, and they sure have improved quite a bit since then.
Bought one for a gift, was set up pretty well except for the intonation (12th fret notes were pretty sharp) and the frets were scratchy. Easy enough to fix, was going to re-string anyway with 10s. On special at GC for $159 US currently.
I got the affinity squire Strat hh, 249.00 it played great out of the box , just had to tune it. Totally surprised, it probably could stand some high quality tuners. But the ones on it seem pretty good. I was wanting a cheaper sonic but was afraid they would be terrible , but since I saw your video I think one would be fine.
What do you think that is that you found inside the guitar, Landon? Could it be shielding? I want to buy this guitar in black colour, but what you found inside worries me. Can you tell us your opinion? Thank you!
Salve Landon ,quella nel video e proprio una bella stratocaster e suona bene ottima scelta io amo le Fender economiche e non / il mio ultimo acquisto (novembre 2023) ho comperato una Tele av 1963 ottima .un saluto dall Italia
I have a question - I'm a bit of a madman, and I decided to buy sonic strat from squier, ofc the pink one - with one bridge humbucker - my question is - since you opened the guitar, is there any soldering point for ground? I'm asking, because I have a terrible idea, of modding it with the fender pre-wired pickup kit for 3 single coils, and usually there is a backplate with springs for tremolo, where the ground is soldered. Is there any ground point too? Maybe a stupid question, but my brain needs answer. Because it's tiny... And does not know, if the ground point is there, since the sonic series does not have backplate/tremolo options where the grounding point usually is... And it needs 3 single coil setup strat in pink colour. Thanks in advance. Brain out.
I'd rather buy used made before today's extreme cost cutting. My used VM strat came mint with noiseless stacked DD pickups, a thick dark rosewood fretboard and fit and finish equal to a mim strat for half the cost of a new CV. My SE strat bought used from a store for 89 bongo bucks, has a full thickness body, super clean routing and a beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard. Even my brand new 2022 Bullet strat I bought to mod looks to be much better quality than that Sonic. Cheers!
Hey Landon, if you still have the guitar, about how thick is the body? Depending on the angle, I've seen some videos where it looks just a bit thinner than a fender, and other videos where it almost looks like an Ibanez S lol Thanks :)
Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome Review/Demo, Nice Work. I am interested in getting The "Pete Honore" Purple Sonic Esquire, but am a little Put off by the Humbucker Pickup, just as traditionally Esquire was a single coil. But still interested. All the Best. Cheers
Love the channel man, you are a trip. I got a Sonic Strat (sss) and man it’s cheap but it’s still really good. Hard to explain, great for the money is the best way to describe it. Use it as my work travel guitar, coupled with the Amplug AC30, excellent practice axe.
Looks like the same model Squier that I bought in a pawn shop over 15 years ago, BUT.... I think mine was made in the late 80s-early 90s, if I'm any judge of serial numbers, and it was "Candy Apple" red. As far as I'm concerned it might've been the ONLY good thing Squier ever made. If this is the same guitar but revived, then I might consider getting one, as the one I bought was much better than I expected it to be.
That's the pyromaniac's favorite routing style...(don't ask me how I know that) .if you want to do the Hendrix thing and light a strat on fire, that kindling will make sure it lights properly...usually you pay extra for that sort of kindling!
Good price, looks great and sounds good. Win Win 🎸However; I've seen thousands of guitar cavities but never seen one with the black goop. The color Tahitian Coral was popular on cars in the 50's- early 60's, Ford, Chrysler and G.M. ✌️
So long as you can make the trem system stable it's really all you need for an electric guitar. Recorded I doubt anyone could tell the difference between it and a guitar 100 times the price.
@@bluwng I like the SSS Affinity pickups. I don’t find them to be weak at all. To me they are voiced well for rock and heavier music. But then it is a subjective thing.😀
Great review. I was at a Guitar Store last week in Jupiter, FL., Wolfe Guitars. I have bought several guitars in the past from Wolfe. I went with a friend to look at and help him with purchasing an electric guitar. I tried a few guitars as well. I was impressed with a Guitar brand, Tagima TW Series. It was also very light and smooth to play the Guitar. Jay Wolfe, the owner advised me that the Guitar is manufactured in Brazil. Have you ever heard of the Tagima Guitar?
Is this Tahitian Coral color meant for girls? If I'm buying a HSS Sonic Strat should I go for this color, or the full black, or pay a bit more for sunburst color?
I didn't think the actual routing was bad. That is about the sloppiest shielding paint job I have seen though. It looks like sawdust was still in the cavity when it got painted.
All seriousness though, good amp and equipment will sort guitar tone … price is mainly about playability, and often a good setup and fret dress will take you there anyway!

Okay, but what did you use to make it sound good?
it's all in the video :)
I hear good things about these. The single pickup 1 is on sale on fender for 139. Good vid... Nice jokes, F em if they don't get em
....and that's the way the cookie crumbles
Which ones’s pink? Go Wings. I just love a popular body. The bridge pup is terrible. But for $200 US what can one expect?
i always laugh at your intro man. your really funny, and i love your vids. keep them coming pls!
I got Squier Sonic StratocasterYellow. I love it. 🎉
will it be good for beginner or i can get at that price something better ?
it's good
Wow that routing !
I know!!
Looks like something that came out of the oven that I cooked !@@landonbailey
I was expecting a Fender player strat but this works
I haven't watched any of your videos recently, Landon, so I'm interested to know if you're still taking lessons?
So long as you can make the trem system stable it's really all you need for an electric guitar. Recorded I doubt anyone could tell the difference between it and a guitar 100 times the price.
Pickups are weak and I think they are the exact same ones that are on a $300 Affinity. They look exactly and measure exactly to my Affinity.
@@bluwng I like the SSS Affinity pickups. I don’t find them to be weak at all. To me they are voiced well for rock and heavier music. But then it is a subjective thing.😀
@@christopherguzzi1316 yes, I just prefer higher output, the lower output pickups require a gain pedal and I’m a minimalist.
Thats the way the cookie crumbles !
How was the bridge? Isn't this an outdated design? 😢
You are now my favorite guitar RUclipsr. Never change. Thanks!
Wow, thanks!
I was looking at the 1 Humbucking squire version
How is it that your guitar playing is so much better on these cheaper guitars? Good stuff!
I'd have to see that color in person. Not so sure I like it. Some of that playing even sounded okay.
Life´s too short to buy a Squier 😋
Is this Tahitian Coral color meant for girls? If I'm buying a HSS Sonic Strat should I go for this color, or the full black, or pay a bit more for sunburst color?
What year are you commenting from?
I didn't think the actual routing was bad. That is about the sloppiest shielding paint job I have seen though. It looks like sawdust was still in the cavity when it got painted.
Probably a soft bodywood that is not easily routed in a clean fashion FWIW
Wow that sounds better than the 1200 dollar model strat I almost bought, think I need a princeton.
🤣👍
Or Landon to play it for you! 😉
All seriousness though, good amp and equipment will sort guitar tone … price is mainly about playability, and often a good setup and fret dress will take you there anyway!
I'VE BEEN WANTING THAT COLOR BUT THINGS KEEP GETTING IN THE WAY OF ME BUYING
