Moves like this is exactly why Netflix has been such a failure lately. Messiah was one of the best shows they've had in years, and for them to bend under pressure like that was pathetic.
To bad multi billion dollar companies still fold to this pressure. Great show.

There just has to be a second season !!! I mean - it‘s a fictional story and no one should take it too seriously, but it is done in such a fantastic, unexpected and capturing kind of way, that it just would be a shame to not continnuing the show ! I hope Netflix will read this…

This drama is deep. Personally I'd like to watch the 2nd season by any means. So many people want to see it, too. Netflix must reconsider it.

This was a great depiction of a modern day Messiah. In my view the show challenged all religious groups and leaders. You can't put GOD in a box of societal ideas.

Religious groups are mad cause it challenges what they know. They think they know God, they walk with him. Yet when a story shakes their core they quickly lose faith and condemn the show. They don't know, they live in fear.

I'm so glad you felt that way. If they were going to end it after only one season, they did it the right. The Texas preacher sold his soul to the television. His stupid drunken wife was absolutely wrong, just like her ridiculous father. The daughter was correct the entire time. Jabril remained alive and I believe he kept faith. The Mossad and the CIA were wrong like they ALWAYS are. Thank God they didn't end it in any other way. :)
The second season of this drama canceled because the content of it was against almost all of faithful christians in the world. Not because it was against Muslims. Maybe only I think that way, but this is what I think.

It is clearly mentioned that first the Antichrist will come and tell people he is the messiah and what not, he will do miracles and people will follow him blindly. Then after he has taken control, Jesus 2nd coming will be there.
It is THE BEST series I've ever seen on Netflix... or any other production for that matter. It is BRILLIANT.

It was not a failure as a serie. I am watching it for the third time. One of the best show ever and I am very disappointed that there is not a second season. I would like to know the end of the story.

Why do religious groups feel so threatened by a fictional production, if a religion is strong it need not feel threatened, I enjoyed this series and chose to believe in the possibility of a second coming, however, I do believe ending the show after season 1 was right because it left question's, it would have been unwise to carry on any further.
It's just people, I had no issue with it whatsoever. If anything it strengthens my faith, you need to travel through the darkness to see the light. Allhamdullilah

I enjoyed the show I was disappointed that it was canceled for season two I thought there was freedom of speech in the United States and that no authority whether it be political or religious pastor right to interfere with our freedom of speech.
It is also freedom of speech to decide to say nothing.

Messiah was a truly genial and profound series, masterfully weaving together controversial topics with outstanding intelligence.
It delved into society's complexities, fanatic groups-including evangelists-people's psychology, and the mentality of the US government and authority figures and their shit.
The series was a masterpiece, not only for its compelling storyline but also for the exceptional acting. It's incredibly disappointing that it was cancelled.
I really hope it will become a top watched series in the years to come, much like other productions that were ahead of their time.

I had just seen this series. I stayed up all night trying to watch all the episodes. I really enjoyed this show. I really want to know how this ends. I wanna see if the CIA comes to terms and starts to believe and all those people who discredited him meet their fate. Bring on the next season.
How is this possible? The show had 33 million viewers. Rating held up and was about to get its first review. They cancelled because of COVID and not being able to film but the 2nd season was already scripted after season 1’s release.
It is sad that it was cancelled. I was intrigued by the concept and was curious to see the endline outcome.
The most realistic scenario if Jesus came back or if a true messiah would come. This is how the modern world would react.

Society can define or believe what they like in its quest for fame, control, power, and money, but the Truth remains the Truth. It never changes. I can't imagine that people are fighting a movie that is an eye opener and sets us truly free from the bondage of our religion and endless quest.

Watched the series. Devout Christian. Not offended. The series can't possibly be about the second coming of Christ because the Bible is clear on how that happens and none of that is included in the story. There is no comparison between the 2nd coming and this show. What this show is similar to is the 1st coming of Christ. I think the premise is what would happen if Christ were to come again, as He did before, but in our society. would we behave better. the answer is clearly we would fail miserably again.
It’s based of the book the Islamic antichrist. If you look at the prophecies of Islam you can see that their messiah (isa/false Jesus) is the beast/antichrist, while our messiah (Jesus) is the dajjal(antichrist) for them. It shows us how Muslims and many false Christian’s that don’t know the biblical warnings will be deceived by the beast that will come out of a Muslim country

I am not sure I have seen a fiction, like the Messiah, that truly reveals my true purpose and essence of life in my years of understanding my existence as a human being. Society can work so hard, but they will never be God.
The problem with this sort of series, it gets people thinking and realizing what they should be thinking about. There are certain people that don't want people waking up. This series was too dangerous!

Probably one of the best shows on TV. It's a shame that there was no season 2? In the last episode, the preacher rejects the truth and burns down his church. WOW!

It would've been actually really great if the guy turned out to be the antichrist. He comes as pretending to be a savior at first and as he builds up followers and trust he reveals himself as who he actually is. It could be a really great wake up call to people who think the devil is just a plainly evil 24/7. This is how he decieves. It'd be a great twist, but as I watched season 1, it was all I could think about.
BRING the show back - people must stop being so sensitive to fictional movies - entertainment is entertainment.
