- In this video, I take a look at the new Druid of the Claw mini and what its best talents are: Leader of the Pack, Rejuvenation, or Regrowth?

It's crazy to me that they had the perfect unit style to do the "change what you summon when you play a cenarian unit" effect and didn't. I feel like if you could choose what you're summoning and not have it swap on the battlefield, it'd make both rejuv and leader of the pact a lot more reliable and therefore better. Not sure if it'd be enough to help the unit to be decent overall (probably not), but it would at least be better
Its true !! 😮
@@rod-abreu that's another possibility, though I can easily see situations where you'd pick leader of the pack but need an emergency ranged unit and want to have the human form, or pick rejuv and need an emergency tank and want to pick bear form. But just being able to have ANY control (whether my idea, yours, or a different one) would make a lot more sense to me imo
This. Comment of the year...
It's just like moonkin. Or earth and moon. Or eclipse. Trying to do two things at once but being incredibly mediocre at them to the point that it feels bad to ever have to play them. They need to stop with this gimmicky shit in the cenarion family. They don't even have a cycle mini. Like bro what are they thinking
I had high hopes for the Druid of the Claw, but I've been disappointed so far too. Rather than its current implementation where you have no control over its forms they could have used a modified version of the surge mechanic where you play it for 3 energy and it is played (permanently) in its Night Elf Form or if you click again immediately after playing it it sinks an extra 1, or 2 energy into it and plays it (permanently) in its bear form. Perhaps buff the bear's stats to represent the increased price. This sort of flexibility would make it a much more interesting design for being able to slap down a single target dps healer when necessary or a tank when necessary.
If my implementation was implemented the way I suggested then I would completely rework the talents to. I would delete the Rejuvenation talent and instead roll that into the Nigh Elf form's base ability, delete the Damage buff aura and roll that into the Bear form's base ability. Delete the transformation heal ability since it no longer makes any sense.
I would then implement entirely new talents.
One would be: "If played in Night Elf Form gain resistant, if played in Bear form gain armored" similar to Rend Blackhand's talent.
Another could be: "Heals given and received are 20% more effective" This would buff his NE form by making his rejuvenation ability stronger and buff the tank form by making it more survivable when paired with healers.
A 3rd could be: "Reduce the cost of this mini by 1" Dropping his base cost to 2 and thus giving him the Cycle trait (which could open up the possibility of putting it in a cycle slot for certain army cops or leader synergies) and the bear's cost to 3 or 4 depending.
IDK these talents are just spitballs I came up with off the top of my head, but I think a rework something along the lines of what I just laid out here would make for a far more interesting mini.
Would make the unit lot better if the druid changed form based on the situation. If it's safe in the back line it would remain in caster form and when engaging in melee range combat change into bear.
Regrowth feels like it should be a baseline ability... heathpool numbers matter less when the tank half starts halved
Much appreciated 👍
Had Leader of the pack as my least favorite choice, just based on the description 🤷🏻♂️
I actually like this mini, it slotted into my Malfurion deck perfectly and has been successful even while underleveled.
For leader, how near is "nearby"? I could see this being pretty big on a Anub Arak or Murkeye deck with chickens, bats, harpies etc. That's a lot of units getting a 15% damage buff. (Thanks Ol' G!)
The usual for Cenarion mini, it sucks.
At least it isn't another X cost unit
Yeah I don't know wtf their problem is with cenarions. There are 4 leaders with hard cenarion army slots, and zero good cenarion minis. It's a crock.
@@willlastnameguy8329 ancient of war is good
@@Rathial only in pvp and when you have extra gold modifier
@@Rathial and only with one purpose of having the lightning rod talent
When you look at the Cenarion family overall, I can't help but wonder how the heck is Witch Doctor only 2 gold. Can't they just give the Cenarions one actually good/cheap mini.
Witch Doctor for 2 gold, especially with the "shield after kill" talent is just completely busted and overpowered. ^^
Agreed. WD is just a super strong unit, but I don't think it entirely busted. It's not terribly useful against beefier units, though its 2g cost means you just cycle through it. The fact that Cenarion has no cycle minis (I'm not counting the ramp-up cost minis) is just insane to me. And their minis all kinda suck anyways. Honestly this DotC feels like it should be a cycle.
@@eannago Yeah, I mean when would we ever pick a 4g Dryad over WD for example?
@@lostprophet8888 The bloodlust talent makes him ridiculous too. He literally removed 5g ogre mage out of the game. Oh and to top it off, a chain lightning doesn't even kill him!
DotC should be a 2g cycle mini. I don't love the shapeshift mechanic and how little control you have but, at 2g, it'd be worthwhile in more decks and the little boosts to either healing or dps/tank would find beneficial moments. And it it isn't super effective in all matches, it's at least something you can cycle through without feeling bad about it.
malfurion heal seems bugged on this unit
it is probably related to the ancient of war bug, there it will take the base health of ancient without goldmodifier and heal to that point. here it just heals a lot slower indicating that it takes the lower 650 base health and then calculates the percentage heal per tick.
thought the bearunit could have been good, but no armor stinks
Curiously, where I see the claw druid best, it is not in a cenaion deck, but in a beast deck, with the murloc. While you are in elf you gain a ranged attacker and in bear with the pack leader talent, along with that of the wolf... they overlap, right? In bear form is it taken as a beast?
I don't think so. Malfurion can heal him while he is in bear form so he should still be considered a cenarion mini. Just like the mountaineer bear is still considered an alliance mini. Tho they might have dual tribe but i doubt they added it on non leader minis (specially while huntress and chimaera were night elf units in warcraft 3 and they don't have the cenarion tribe in rumble).
Tried to combo it with shaman, it loses the armored status when it transforms. It's kinda logical, but still, it basically means you can't combo it like that.
y it same as Doomhammer, changes form and removes all buffs they received before hand
Any luck with the Take Towers quest? I have the talent but the bear form doesn't actually seem to be doing damage to the towers.
Towers should be dps’d down. Not tanked down
The only place I have found use for druid is with Malfurion, because at least Malfurion can heal him when the druid is in bear form
It's bad even on Malfurion?
I feel like druid of the claw is just like moonkin: try to be too many things at once and end up failing at all of them.
It’s pretty disappointing. Caster is backline, so if they hit enough to change the rest of the group is likely dead already. He is the mountaineer of casting.
How to do the leader of the pack challenge. I have the talent. Get him to bear form and it is nearby when tower dies but get no credit for the challenge. Took that talent instead of rejuvenation as it gives more tickets
It looks like just getting meeting stones will get you the credit on this one.
Not even in bear form.
It's not a good look to sell bundles day one for a mini that's bugged. And I have less of an understanding on how when it's literally a mini from months ago.
Maybe if rejuv / lotp forced it into one form it might actually be ok.
I upgraded to uncommon and the grid won't give me a talent, I've completely reset the grid 12 times and nothing. It doesn't even show a empty talent when I look at druid of the claw in my army😢
Swampbeast with +50% heal talent + claw with rejuvenation + Malf... Try it, it's op
Also Ragnaros, fireele, Shami with earthshield and heal drood of the claw... With this mini heal got out of hand and it's crazy strong ^^' just need to pair it up... With 3 costs it's easy spameble... Drakkisath with shaman und heal drood is also crazy
Lol these new bugs are so silly at this point that they just made me laugh more than anything else. Jesus!
I predetermined to let the grid choose for me by taking the first talent offered that wasn’t regrowth. I ended up with rejuv which I’m fine with although I was probably leaning a little more towards LoP
Bear form should have armor.
Cenarions just cant win can they
...rej. he could heal self as a bear...
Another bad cenarion unit. 😬👎
First talent should have been a built in mechanic not a talent
Talent choose 3:49 No Thanks :D
These new minis always feel like a cash grab
Another crappy/niche Cenarion mini. What a shocker.
Kinda bait video, no?
