Great job, and great video! Thank you so much for taking the time to make it. So relaxing to see a professional doing good work, nice little details like preparing paper 'towelettes', I now feel confident I can do this myself, thank you!
I dont mean to be off topic but does someone know a way to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
@Kyree Jad I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I will be installing flares in my Pebble Grey sprinter which is a very light color, I know the 3M 550FC urethane adhesive is black, I am wondering what the joint should look like between the flare and the sprinter body. You mention a 'fillet', I'm not sure what that is. I am used to running my gloved finger coated with a bit of spray foam window cleaner along a caulk line to make it smooth.
Can you provide the height from the Sprinter factory floor to the bottom of the Flarespace window? I have purchased the Flarespace and need to determine where to place by bed frame so the frame + plywood base + mattress is above the bottom of the Flarespace window.
Hi at 4.40 looking from the inside is it possible to cut out the second rib? Reason being here in the uk these flares are 1.6m long but the panel to cut out on the sprinter is only 1 meter long. 1 meter width in the extra lenght section isn't enough for 2 people sleeping next to each other. So I'm thinking if the next rib can be cut and re-strengthened about 300mm over more toward the front then this would give a wider more useable space in the bed area. Thanks
We’re about to tackle putting flares into (on to?) our 144 ... any particular reason you don’t upholster the inside of the flare BEFORE you install? And is really that difficult to upholster that we should consider getting it done by a professional upholsterer? (That diamond hatched fabric you use looks amazing)
Are there any structural issues in cutting out the side panels? Any flexing in the roof or sides? Looks like the cutout included two side braces. Thanks!
Absolutely no issues. No different than if you cut it out to put a window there. Technically, because its now a structural piece basically, it is stronger in that area.
@@FreedomVanGo great video, thanks! Was also wondering about Chef Duane's concern - I see in the body mounting directives from Daimler/MB it says it is not permissible to install panoramic glazing on a panel van basic vehicle by cutting out the stamped window shape without ensuring equivalent rigidity.
@@FreedomVanGo 😂10/10 reply 🤙🏼 great video. Appreciate the detailed walk through. I also like your words of encouragement at the end. Not a lot of people are confident in their abilities and sometimes need a reminder so kudos to you for that.
Thanks for the detailed video. Just bought the flares off your website to give you the biz.
By far the best video on body flares I've seen.

@Kyree Jad it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account!
@Uriah Camdyn happy to help :)
Nice to see all that goes into the install. Thanks for this video. You guys are meticulous.
Thanks for watching!
This is a really good instructional video. Thanks for the upload, it's very helpful and appreciated 😎
Hey, thanks for the great tutorial!! My flares are made of GRP material, Which glue should I use for it?
The glue the manufacturer tells to you typically
Great video, do you do any prep to the van before gluing apart from the alcohol wipe? Sanding or Primer?
scotch brite the surface. Depending on the adhesive the MFG is sending determines the need for primer or not
@@FreedomVanGo many thanks, I had seen others using 200 grit sandpaper, I am getting a pair of flares second hand - so no adhesive supplied

If you google sealant fillet joint, it's pretty detailed.
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing!

Im not at the shop right now, however you can just measure to the bottom of the window cutout there. That is what you cut out.
@@FreedomVanGo Thanks.
good job. can you tell what reference the 3M glue you used? thank you so much
it comes with the flares
Great video 👍 how much extra does each side give you?
6" in this case total. flarespace site has alot of info

I tried to do it once, and it just got nasty on install with glue and stuff. Its nicer to do it while its in there.

@@mattf2739 You would need to ask flarespace about that. Its also not a panoramic glazing, its a fiberglass part.
Do you need to apply a primer to the van side for better adhesion?
No
Great Video Thx. Nice Watch
What kind of rustoleum paint do you use? Is it a glossy clear latex top coat?
Doesnt matter at all. Hidden anyways :). Just get a good thick layer on there of a good paint
Consider using an air nibbler for the panel cut out.
Anybody know where could I find custom flares? Flarespace only has flares for specific vans.
Is there a part 2 ?
there will be!
@@FreedomVanGo Cant wait to see part 2! Seriously considering purchasing flares.
@@piccolo6214 Good Reminder! Ill make it available
nice work!
This is awesome, thanks! Any reason why you cut the holes from the outside instead of the inside (like in the Flarespace instructional videos)? :)
you can do it however youd like.
@@FreedomVanGo Thanks! What are you using in your hand to smooth out the "Filet"? Just your finger and paper towel?

Could you turn up the obnoxious music even louder please?
