you're obviously belivevng trump- even though every word out of his mouth is a lie. the Santa Anna winds were up to 90 miles per hour. all it takes is for 1 ember to be carried by the wind and another fire starts becuase it's been so dry.
I look at that ground and there is no way I would build a house there. No way. There should be huge fire breaks between that woods and those homes. Pretty predictable
Yes, it was both predictable and predicted a couple of decades ago, which is why the Getty buildings are so well-protected. If you don't want to pay taxes to support adequate emergency services and you insist on shoving housing into every corner, and you don't feel like paying attention to the scientists because the emergency isn't here burning your house down, this is what you get.
Everything burns. It doesn’t matter what you have around your house, it burns or serves as a catalyst of sorts. The point being, when this is over with, the fires are out completely and people begin the arduous task of rebuilding their lives, one of the first things to consider is making everything as fire proof as possible. The Santa Anna winds are no joke. Moving in around the various parts of Southern California with impunity and carrying with them embers that caused all this the happen. Well, we cannot control the winds or wind speed, but we damn sure can control the things that burned. Someone mentioned tile roof tops, which is expensive, but a great idea. Also, houses ought to be required by fire/ safety code to have a sprinkler system which is automatic in such catastrophic events. They just come on and saturate the entire property. The Pacific Ocean is right there and can be utilized for this to happen. There is no excuse for people loosing everything they own or possessions lost for good. Not only was I broken heated it just tore through me real badly. PEOPLE LOST EVERYTHING!!! Stop and put this in perspective. Everything means pictures, documents, cars, house, valuables….. EVERYTHING! That makes everyone equal. It doesn’t matter if you’re famous and rich or just getting by…… EVERYTHING….. They have each other and God whether they believe or not. Some will find starting over impossible. Even the rich. Money means nothing, but…….. a good hug is priceless. I implore people all over the world…….HELP IF YOU CAN and most of all…… 🙏 PRAY🙏
There's a considerable difference between house burnt with everything in it depending on whether that's it & it's all you got or you got the two other places and a couple milly in the bank. Let's return to some reality, please.
Inmates should give back to the community in this way. They took from society when they committed their crimes. These crews allow the convicts to provide help and give them the sense of pride they didn’t have in the world. This isn’t slavery. It’s service.
What about those who aren't in prison and never would be because they would never violate another to ever be in prison? I worked around someone who had been in prison and should have been. Everything about that person was criminal and violent minded, lied about things a lot and just a bad character. It depends who it is. Not everyone should be a candidate.
@ We aren’t talking about people who have never violated the law. We’re talking about prisoners, convicts who owe their community for their misdeeds. There is a big difference.
The thing is... no matter what a lot of these people where dropped from their insurance companies too like regular people. What they aren't telling is these fires were deliberately set in all areas. They caught two setting fires.
In 2021, the homeless were responsible for causing 54% of ALL fire-related incidents responded to by the LAFD The number for 2022 & 2023 are very similar Both the suspected arsonists arrested, (though blow-torch-man was released 3hrs later!), are homeless vagrants.

Blame the developers for planning homes adjacent to a rugged canyon. As for clearing, just how do clear 10s of 1000s of acres of rugged canyon land with steep terrain. Controlled burns next to urban-natural interface would risk causing fires to structures. This was a tragic natural disaster composed of normal dry conditions in a near semi arid area, wind and fire.
The false alerts were stressful but with each warning I was better prepared if I did have to leave. I am very grateful for them. Love and prayers to fellow Californians who received orders to evacuate/ lost their homes and those who lost loved ones.
DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A POLITICAL PROBLEM- you seem to have forgotten the problems Florida has with no insurance, hurricanes and sink holes. YOU SMELL. YOURE A VICIOUS PERSON.
Yes, because a vengeful God punishes the wicked with his hot breathe. Oh, wait, let me check my notes: It was hurricane strength wind with low humidities, combined with the warm, compressed air mass, creating critical fire weather conditions, Mountain passes which channel these winds include the Soledad Pass, the Cajon Pass, and the San Gorgonio Pass, all well known for increasing Santa Anas as they are funneled through. This increase in speed, often to near-gale force or above is due to the Venturi effect of the passes. At the same time, as the air descends from higher elevation to lower, the temperature and barometric pressure increase adiabatically, warming about 5 °F for each 1,000 feet it descends (1 °C for each 100 m). Relative humidity decreases with the increasing temperature. The air has already been dried by orographic lift before reaching the Great Basin, as well as by subsidence from the upper atmosphere, so this additional warming often causes relative humidity to fall below 10 percent. But yeah, let's blame a guy who lives 400 miles away whose job is taking care of an entire state, not just the hills in a neighborhood in a suburb of a major metropolitan area. Or maybe it is a result of reduced funding from the federal government to take care of federal lands, due to republicans use of the filibuster to get nothing done.
They steal the vote look how long it took them to count it out almost 3-4 weeks and all the rep were ahead till the slow count ..newsomes recall was odd as well..but yeah some dont vote for commies i was one of them untill i moved 8 years ago voted trump 3 times i vote for the constitution ..there are many there that still do
Well, governor greaseball, we'll never know how much of a difference water in the hydrants would have made. It certainly couldn't have made things worse.
Fire hydrants are not equipped to fight large scale forest fires like this one, that’s what reservoirs are for. Their reservoir was dry and winds prevented air crafts from dropping water from above.
Only if they want to go to jail. The police, the firefighters and the National Guard aren’t playing. Looters make me sick, they are the lowest form of life.
Land owners that owned the hill behind my home kept the top of hills cleared, we would clear up to our property line, and had a pool to use and hoses in case anything like this in Northern Calif. We are a desert state, little to no water in summer.
Volunteer firefighter programs would be an option to consider. Proper training, safety, even basic medical training. Led by seasoned supervisors, individuals could be inserted to battalion to effectively help. Similar to neighborhood watch for crime prevention, neighborhoods and communities would benefit.
neighbors caught guy with propane blow torch lighting dry Christmas trees on fire... ziptied him and he was arrested... he has already been released... "no probable cause" go find vids.. LA is funny.
I was wondering g the same thing. Either you get the retardant to clean up, or the smoke damage inside the home if it survives the fire outside. Either way, you may still have the house, but you probably can't live in it until it's cleared up right?
Arizona here, Im on raw land offgrid, fire started from a lightning strike, they dumped red flame retardant then immediately cleaned it up and off the ground. None was left behind. Idk how you can clean massive amounts?
diammonium phosphate ([NH4]2HPO4) and ammonium polyphosphate ((NH4PO3)n). its "fertilizer" and it is what is in those cool crystal kits for kids... you can clean if off sure. it is alkaline and turns to ammonia basically.. .so you probably wash with light acid like vinegar.
If the people of LA are really thankful to the firefighters, demand an exception for the firefighting inmates to get their EMT certification after release, so that they can become full time firefighters.
There were American Indians who would NOT take explorers and settlers across the mountains to the West Coast. It was taboo, off limits for them....an evil place. Not a place to live.
My absolute favorite, now deceased Hollywood celebrity, Don Defore, used to be their honorary mayor, and lived in Mandeville Canyon. He was a wonderful person.

This is terrible tradgy, but I can't feel sorry for the people who supported the open boarders while the veterans were thrown out on the streets, that risked their lives for America...well done Newson, for doing nothing.
Looking at the locations of the fires, the way that they are spaced and most next to major highways implies to me that they were deliberately planned and set.... The timing of the fires is another reason...
Y'all I don't mean to be dumb. But don't we know how to slow the spread of fire? Shouldn't there be an army of personnel and equipment making a buffer zone?? Can't they get ahead of it and direct it away from homes??
@Jacqueline.Guerra But why wouldn't they bring in the military or contractors to start putting a buffer in? Start clearing and grubbing. Cut sh*t down. Dig trenches. They're just letting it take over LA. I don't understand.
Maybe not. People are individual people. Not everyone is political either but know how you're coming from.

I don’t care how strong the wind is. A hot ember ain’t traveling ten miles without burning itself out.
Exactly. There's some fuckery afoot 😅
The thing is... no matter what a lot of these people where dropped from their insurance companies too like regular people. What they aren't telling is these fires were deliberately set in all areas. They caught two setting fires.
In 2021, the homeless were responsible for causing 54% of ALL fire-related incidents responded to by the LAFD
The number for 2022 & 2023 are very similar
Both the suspected arsonists arrested, (though blow-torch-man was released 3hrs later!), are homeless vagrants.

All the spigots open, no water pressure. With the wind the brush didn’t do much. Blew from house to house. So many ignorant comments.
Fire hydrants are not equipped to fight large scale forest fires like this one, that’s what reservoirs are for. Their reservoir was dry and winds prevented air crafts from dropping water from above.

What does the fire retardant do to the value of the home? Is it environmentally safe? Do you just wash it off when the fire is out? Serious question!?
