Here we have three Remington Pump Shotguns that demonstrate the evolution of Remington pump shotguns over more than 100 years: Remington Model 10, Remington Model 31, and Remington Model 870. We take a detailed look at these shotguns including outdoor footage, studio footage, and a shooting demonstration. We even have a look at the Mossberg 500 to see how it compares. The model 31 is by far the smoothest pump shotgun I've ever handled, and, as a gunsmith, I've handled hundreds. The three model 31 shotguns I own were all purchased for $300 or less each. Blued steel and walnut. Amazing.
Good to hear from you - the voice of experience - I agree : the 31 is remarkable.
Never handled a JC Higgins model 20 huh? Actually that is the smoothest pumping shotgun ever made. I own dozens of shotguns including several model 31s and 5 model 20s. Love them both but gotta say the JC Higgins model 20 might be a tad smoother.
@@guaporeturns9472 Awesome, I'll have to take a closer look at that specific model! Apparently they are High Standard Flite Kings which I've only seen a couple of over the years. Always looking for something better.
@@erkwit there was an extensive write up on some forum I found a couple years ago all about the model 20 (had manufacture dates and everything!)but I can’t find it anymore. Said it was introduced in 46-47 for Sears and Roebuck as the model 20 until the early-mid 60s when they decided to make it under their own name as the High Standard model 200 Flite King. I have found the JC Higgins(Sears) model a bit superior to the later Flite King but that might just be the two Flite Kings I owned were just abused more. I own 5 model 20s and absolutely love them.
@@guaporeturns9472 I will definitely keep an eye out specifically for an early JC branded one. Thanks for the info!
I bought an 870 Wingmaster used in 1976. Still own it. Best bird gun I ever owned. Hooked me on 870's. Now I own several in different configurations.
Buying one firearm is like a drug addiction once you have one you need more even if you dont.
I’ve got a 1969 870 20 gauge 28 inch vent ribbed barrel still looks brand new back when they made great guns
They still make great guns.
As a kid i would stare @ the beautiful Remington 870 Wingmaster in Gun Digest! Great pump guns & sad reminder of how great Remington used to be.
Hello Uncle Remus - Let's hope they return to their former glory. It is not difficult to make first class guns - especially since there is little or no design work to be done - but the board and management has to want to do so. Sound silly to say so but money managers can't see - as they manage money - whether they are making guns or coat hangers or can openers - they see little difference. Gune need to be made by gunmakers. IMHO Take care Uncle Remus.
I wish I had that clay bird thrower, but my wife wouldn't let me bring her home😉. You dusted those clays even with that full choke.
I carried an 870 for 28 years in my work, never faltered. The stock became scuffed a bit.
I personally only have a Mossberg 500 that I've had for 40 years. Just recently replaced the magazine spring as it was having trouble getting that last shell out, but it has never failed in thousands of rounds either, although the recoil pad is getting stiff in its old agd or I am less stiff in mine.
My 1970s 1100 needs repair, but nobody seems to have parts. Same for my late dad's 11-48.
You have quite the collection. Thanks for sharing.
😂 thanks William - I also had an 1100 that stopped working; I also could not find parts...eventually sold it to a smith who found everything at Numrich Gun Parts - but it took a long time. All the best.
Best pumps out there!!!
I agree - each one unique and remarkable - and reliable - easily the best buys on the used gun market.
Love these old guns. I really like the old 31s. As far as hunting shotguns are concerned, I think I’d personally rather carry an old early Wingmaster than anything that’s been made since that time. Balance, pointability, reliability are all there as well as old fashioned grace. Thanks for putting this together. I always enjoy the videos.
Thanks Jeremy - I agree : )
That deep cut corn cobb front end is easily appreciated when on those wet days. I fond that they provide better grippage when racking during firing at game. I am surprised you sold your JC Higgins. I got mine from my grandfather, and I love it. Very solidity built.
Hi Jake - I should have kept the JC - but I make mistakes. All the best.
I have a thing for the older American pump guns. Every publication you see today in the uplands shows a man with his German Shorthaired Pointer and an Over/Under. I'd wager more folks are hitting the uplands with Mossberg 500's and Remington 870's. I have a 70's manufactured 870 Wingmaster in 20 gauge, recently purchased a Remington 31 in 12 gauge and am actively looking for another 31 in 20 gauge. I wholeheartedly agree with his comments regarding profit margins dictating production. Otherwise, we would likely still have the Winchester Model 12 and the Remington Model 31. I'd take any of these pumps over a Beretta 686 or Browning Citori at 4 times the cost.
My first pump action shotguns back in 1984 were the Mossberg 500 riot gun and the Mossberg 500 28" barrel version. Tough as nails and thanks for sharing Mike!
They're remarkable - you knew that early : )
Yes sir I had a Mossberg 500 camo shock 12 gauge with a 20" turkey barrel . I Traded it for a 870 Remington black Synthetic stock and form arm with 28" barrel modified choke and a turkey choke came with it. Did I make a bad trade I really miss my Mossberg, but I like the 870 very nice gun and patterns very well. 000 buckshot at 40yds all 8 pellets in a 14in circle !! I am going to hunt deer 🦌 with it this year ! Injoy all of your videos they are great ! 👍
The 870 is a wonderful shotgun. I have one that has the deep blue finish and beautiful walnut stock and forearm. The other one is all camo and it has a 3 1/2 chamber. Of course it’s a great duck gun.
Perfect pair of 870s!
I love the old Remington and Winchester pump shotguns, and a lot of there older auto loaders,
Thank you Sir! Very interesting video. I love Remington shotguns!
The thanks are all mine Mike. Glad you're here and glad the video is okay. Take care and good hunting.
This channel is a real gem. I see all kinds of fascinating things here.
Mike, the first one you showed is a Model 10. My grandfather had one, many years ago. I have a picture of him holding it.
Thank you Ron - such a fantastic shotgun!
Love your videos! What a beautiful lineup of shotguns.
Thank you for your kind words.
USOG You have the nicest collection of anyone I have watched your very lucky and knowledgeable and also your taste is impeccable even in your clay bird thrower thanks!
Thanks Joseph - I appreciate the nod to my choices : )
Glad to see you feeling better. Love the 870 model. Thanks for the video.
Always such a pleasure to hear you share your deep knowledge and wisdom.
Thank you so much.
Your subtle humor and skillful dialog perfectly highlight the good camera work, descriptive narrative and positive message brought forth with every episode.
Thank you Jonny 🙏
I had that mossberg the tube unscrees
It does indeed. I used vise grip pliers and a towel to remove mine to replace the magazine spring.
I didn't know that - thanks for mentioning. For parts that come loose I often apply clear nail polish on threads etc... not as severe as thread locking compounds and can be overcome if needed - but strong enough to hold threading and other things in place.
Mike, My wife loves her 12ga 870 LE model. It’s got an aftermarket Knox collapsing stock and a Streamlight forearm with a crazy bright light that’s activated by the user when needed. She’s got the gun set up for her liking and she understands how to use the recoil to reload pretty fast ! I’ve got to admit she works that 870 much smoother than I do. If shotgun shells ever return to believable prices, I’ll take it to the range and work on my 870 skills, LOL!
Great video, as always!
Thanks Paul - In some hands the 870 can be worked something like a semi-auto - sounds like your wife has that talent - they're just amazing - all of those Remington pumps.
Thank you Mike for the video content on these pump shotguns. My favorite is the Mossberg 500. I Pheasant hunt with the Mossberg and a 1960 Browning Auto 5 in 12 gauge. Stay well.
Thanks as always Stephen!
I have a wood stocked 870 in the Super Mag configuration, very versatile shotty. Always been reliable no matter the hunting conditions.
Just about unstoppable. The 870 is a tank.
You sir are a lovely humble man. Thankyou so much for sharing all your knowledge. Always fascinating and interesting!!
Thank you Abbey 🙏
As a child I had a early 20 ga wingmaster lightweight. I couldn't miss with that full choke. If I ever see one ,instant buy!!
Fantastic shotgun. I had one with a mahogany stock. Maybe they all did.
the model 31 is probably the strongest and smoothest action in the shotgun world. A lot of off brand shotguns patterned off this action. I have a field grade, plane jane sort since back in the early 1960's and there has never ever been an operational issue. These are one tough shotgun.
Hi Gary - Clearly you know - experience over time tells! Thanks for the note and the more I handle and shoot the 31 - the better it gets. Good hunting and shooting gary!
The Model 31 kinda makes me think of a Mossberg disguised as an Ithaca. Only thing missing is a tang safety
That's very good - something about that 31!
LOVE this video. I buy Remington model 10's & 37's any time I come across them. The Rem. M10 is one very slick pump shotgun, its my favorite Remington. Also I own some 870's that are just solid dependable work-horses. This is a great line of shotguns. They do the job they were designed to do. VERY solid shotguns! Best of the bread I think.
BTW, the JC Higgins Model 20 was made by High Standard. It was the High Standard Model 200 rebranded for Sears. They have that same classic bolt & shell lifter design as the later Mossberg 500's. Another terrific gun that can still be bought for under $300 at any gun show. Thx again for a great video.
Thanks Rusty!
Model.10 rocks solid build find full chock have a early 10 sold it at 500 cash got it back.hs that well.msde a classic shot gun supper slick
I loved the video! Thankyou! My first shot gun was an 870, still have it…31 years and counting! I also own an early model 10.
Thank you for the kind note! Many people wrote about their 870s - all positive. I wonder if the 870 is one of the best machines ever made. As for your model 10 - they seem to be becoming more and more popular - which is pretty amazing.
Mike because of your past video I purchased a JC Higgins. Smooth as butter. Puts my 590 to shame. May pick up a model 31 now.
Thanks OG always enjoy your videos. Good shooting.
Very interesting video Mike. Some old beauties I wasn't familiar with. I'm looking forward to the side by side show, as the only shotgun I own is a Stevens 311. Take care.
Been following the channel for a while and I'm a big fan of the shooting being added. I like your point about being a collector but a collector that shoots!
Thank you Jonathan!
You're quite the humble guy.
Thank you Thomas
I had one of the jc Higgins one. It had a polly adjustable choke.
My grandfather gave it to me the day I was born.
No everyone. I didn't sell it it was lost in a house fire.
I hope you find another - such brilliant shotguns - and inexpensive for now. Cheers.
If you had sold it then it wouldn't have burnt up in a house fire.
Hey Mike! Another great video! The first pump shotgun I ever had, purchased in 1980, was a 12 gauge Revelation model 310AB marked "Made in USA Western Auto Supply Co, Kansas City Missouri". It is definitely a Mossberg 500AB with cheaper wood. It does have twin slide bars which indicates that it was made after 1973 when the 500 was changed from a one bar version tube and slide assembly to the two bar version. It came to me with a 28" modified choke plain barrel and an 18.5" cut off barrel. All for $60 USC. Those barrels are just marked "Made in USA " and the usual gauge and choke information but no manufacturer name. Later for $35 I acquired a 28" modified vent rib barrel that does have the Mossberg name etc on it. Then not long ago sold the 28" plain barrel for $90.00. I still have the gun with both barrels. I keep the short barrel on it for home defense.
I really like my Wing Masters too, especially the ADL DELUXE version from 1950-1963. I've been trying to accumulate a set of those with the matted top barrel but I'd take a plain barrel in good condition. I let a 20 gauge with the vent rib get away from me the same day I got my 16 gauge. DUMB DUMB DUMB!
BTW. That's the best clay pigeon thrower I ever saw. Happy hunting boys and girls!😄
Hi Dave - Thanks for the info. on the Mossberg - I have 2 now - and one has twin action slide bars and the other doesn't - now I know - thanks to you! My clay pigeon thrower is getting better and better : ) You're right about the ADL Deluxe - the best - but so hard to find. Good shooting Dave!
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns I forgot to mention that Montgomery Wards sold three different versions of the 500 with the name Wards Wester Field stamped on them just like Western Auto's version. Also possibly some other Midwest hardware stores like OTASCO which was Oklahoma Tire and Supply and Coast to Coast stores but I haven't been able to document those.
Again, thank you for your time and wisdom. Excellent content as always
that indeed is an old model ten
👍
Got a rem 17 and rem 29. Trying to get a rem 10 and 31. Rem 10 17 and 29 are well known for cracking the stocks. They are hollow and very thin. The bolt actually goes back in the stock slightly on rear travel. Finding one with out a crack is rare.
Thanks for all the good information
You're most welcome! Thanks for being here.
"Get the clay pigeon thrower going...". I expected a machine of some sort, your version is much nicer!
Thank you 3ducs; I'll let her know : )
Glad to see you're doing better! My dad and I always look forward to watching your videos together. Hope to see many more. Wishing you the best.
Thank you Ethan! I'm much better and am filming again. All the best to you and your dad!
Great video. No where else can this level of insight and knowledge be found. Excellent shooting too. Going after those clay pigeons looks like a lot of fun.
Thanks Rick ; these are all so great - I keep on switching which one is my favorite; guess there is no need - they're all here for now. Cheers Rick!
You have a pleasant pigeon thrower sir
Love your videos! Great shooting on the clays! There was also a model 29 between the 10 and 31 its alot like the model 10. Love old remington pumps wonderful shotguns!
Thank you! I'll try to find those. People don't seem to sell the 31 easily or any of them for that matter. Thanks for the note.
... find yourself a Model 17 ... it only came in 20 ga ... I love mine ... that is the father of the Ithaca Model 37 ... You can keep those Heavy 12 ga ... I carried it for small game for many years as a teen-ager ... recently I re-stocked it ... and I fell in love w/ it all over again ...
Fantastic - I'll look for one!
years ago I traded in to a wingmaster tb my uncle cut the stock off on and what I did was found original furniture that was a folding pistol grip s flashlight forend and put it's slug barrel with rifle sights on and did it up from the ground up like a riot gun older guy who was a cop at that time all but gave me his savings to get it at the range one day I cut him a deal on it he used a shotgun identical to that as a trooper in the 70s as a young man he even said I did the tube extension and side saddle right I was happy someone enjoyed it and would treasure it for what it was
Hi Joe - That's a great rig - light and fast and deadly; one can always build another : )
So I’m sure you’ll read this a lot, ut who was that love.y woman in your video? You’re daughter?
I just bought the Canadian mossberg 500. Same furniture, but it came with , I believe a 30” barrel, but had it cut down to 22”, and threaded for chokes.
It’s supposed to be infallible, but mine had a problem with extraction, and ejection. Turns out it was a dirty chamber. Polished it up, and she still runs awesome.taking it to the range tomorrow with an old Spanish 20g SxS, and my new Uberti colt 1883
Hi Jim : ) I usually respond that is my granddaughter - but actually, that is my wife - I'm a very lucky man. I'm glad you have the Mossberg - and working now - simply one of the best; but you know this.
Very interesting episode. I purchased my 870 Wingmaster back in 1964. I used it extensively, mainly for Rabbits. Oh, I got my fair share of Upland game too.
My other shotgun is a Mossberg model 500 Persuader.
My father bought a used J.C. Higgins 12 Ga. I don't remember the barrel length but, the choke was like a Cutts Compensater. That was the most smooth operating pump I've ever shot. My father was one sick man when it was stolen during a home invasion.
Thank you Sir for sharing your wonderful shotguns and, your shooting ability.
Stan in Idaho
Thank you Harrison - your 870 is of ideal vintage - as you know and the Mossberg for sure is a Persuader : ) I agree on the Higgins - so slick. I'm sorry about your father. I appreciate your kind words. All the best.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns; Thank you Sir again for sharing your collection.
My father was a WW 2 Army veteran. He passed away November 19, 2021 at 98 years of age. As I said in my post above, he missed his old J.C. Higgins 12 Ga above all others that were stolen. He bagged many different kinds of Game with that shotgun. After it was stolen, I gave him a Browning Auto 5 that I bought used too. It showed a lot of "character" but, it was still solid.
Again, thank you Sir.
Stan in Idaho
Classic shotguns! Good shooting and excellent target throwing. (even if edited).
Great information with explanation. Glad you're doing better. Thanks for the lineup.
Thank you Rod 🙏
I have a model 31 L I had to replace the receiver with standard 31 steel one cause it wore out. Smoothest action Remington ever made. They call it the ball bearing corn husker
Love your videos as I love shotguns and lever guns. Nice presentation ... shotguns are the best! Today is probably one of the best times for gun buyers as there are so many quality shotguns available boith used classics and news ones that are clones of the classics.
Just picked up a Tokarev TX3 which is a Remington clone and resembles a trench gun, it's a good one for $250 new. Made in Turkey.
Hello J. Beau - Thank you for the kind words. Your Tokarev TX3 is a "best buy" and I've owned a few Turkish shotguns - all excellent - no issues. You're right about shotguns in general - vastly undervalued - but the market always corrects and finds value. I buy Rem. 870s from the 60s and 70s and Mossbergs and Win Model 12s at hilarious prices these days. Things will change. Anyway, I wish you good hunting and shooting!
Thank you Mike!!!
I have a Rem 12 sports man auto. I bought it new in the mid 80s,nice for a cheap shotgun.
That's an excellent buy and a fine shotgun - I'm sure you know. Cheers.
Always enjoy your videos! Neat stuff and your personality is great.
Had heard about, but never seen before, a single action bar 500 till now. The singles were early models, but drawing a blank on the switch date to double bars beyond getting a new one around 1985 with double bars.
I have a model 31L Rremington with aluminum receiver
That's amazing Earl - I had no idea they made them. Thanks for the note.
I forgot to say that it is a 16 gauge
I have about 4-5 versions of each classic shotgun and tell my wife it's the same gun. Learned it from my dad 😂
And the model 29 too!
I always enjoy your videos Mike. Thank you.
Thank you William!
It is a model #10 Sir ❤❤
USOG, I appreciate your videos very much. I love shotguns! Single shots, side by sides, and pumps. Autos...not so much. I would like to collect the best of the pumps, already have two Stevens "double humps" 520's, a Winchester model 12, and an older Mossberg 500. Still need to get a Winchester 1897, an Ithaca 37, and at least one of these Remingtons- probably would prefer a model 10, 29 or 31 over any 870, though the Wingmasters were good guns. If you don't mind me asking, where do you get those excellent epaulette shirts, eh?
Thanks for the kind words well done on the guns! The shirts I buy at a thrift store. I think a uniform company donates them to the thrift. They're excellent quality and cost little. Wish thrifts carried guns : ) All the best
A lot of teh 500's were dual action bars, some were single action bars. That one definitely looks like it was sold by Sears< I had two like that both had jeweled or scalloped bolts like yours.
It was a very nice video.Thank you for your effort, sir.Greetings from Turkey.
Thank you Kobra - I have to visit Turkey - thanks for the note.
The mossberg 500 were great hunting guns.
I shot my first deer and many others with a 500 with a bird barrel on it. They were and are excellent hunters.
Hey Mike, great presentation as always! I have a Win. Mod.12 in 16ga. that has honest wear, 28'' mod. plain brl. 1948? I think, and just bought a 1978 Rem. 870 Wingmaster 20 ga. Magnum w/ 28'' vent rib full choke. decent shape. Remington also had the Model 17 that was only made in 20 ga. if I'm not mistaken. Take care my friend!
Great video, but you forgot the most important shotgun made by remington, the model 17. The Remington model 31, the Browning BPS, the Ithaca 37, and the Mossberg 500 are all based on John Brownings brilliant model 17.
Hi Monte - You're right - I can't find one : (
www.pheasantsforever.org/BlogLanding/Blogs/Field-Notes/This-is-My-Classic-Shotgun-Remington-Model-17-Pump.aspx?feed=articles
Nice flinger. Got skills.
Thats a good looking clay thrower, lucky man!
Thanks Lundy - I'll tell her and you're right - very lucky. All the best to you.
Before the 870, if Im correct, there were:
1. Model 10
2. Model 17 - only made in 20ga. Design used by Ithaca to make the Model 37.
3. Model 29 - Model 10 with some improvements
4. Model 31
A few years ago, I wanted to get a bottom eject shotgun. But read in a few shotgun forums, that the model 10 and 29, when they get out of timing, they were very difficult to fix. Very complicated shotguns. So, I got an Ithaca 37.
Today I got a Model 10. Looks like it was refinished and reblued. Beautiful shotgun.
Nice old shotguns. I've seen a couple of short videos on the new 870's and they seem to be pretty nice. I don't think they are called Express models anymore, Field models maybe but they were well made. I don't know if you own a Remington Mohawk 48 but it would be nice to see one in a review.
USOG I live in Manchester uk ,in the 1960s I had a BSA snipe ,when the IRA kicked of everything was taken from us ,I have only had air guns since then , but thank you 🇬🇧
Hi John - I've been looking for a BSA Snipe - fine single shot - I just looked at some pics on the web. A viewer mentioned the Snipe a couple of years ago - but no one knows where they are - just like snipe I suppose. I'll keep looking. At least they allow an air rifle. Thanks for the note.
Good shooting Mike!
I so enjoy your channel
I'm so glad Michael!
Great video thanks 🇬🇧
Thanks John!
I have an early 20 gage 870 and they actually built them on a 12-gage receiver. All steel and robust.
Great video sir . I love the old pump guns !
Thanks Kurt - I'm waiting for and old Model 12 Winchester - can't wait to shoot some clays.
Nice shooting and collection. Nice clay pigeon thrower.
Thanks Mark
In the model 10 they started making it during world war 1 all the way up to the Vietnam
Remington looks like the one they call the honeycomb or the 🐝 bee calm model in the it they started making it in I started making it in 1949 till 1961
I've never been a Rem shotgun guy. Browning Winchester Beretta Ithaca those are Shotguns the Remington 870 is a club
It sure if you will catch this message or not. I would love to see a comparison video featuring the Browning BPS
Hi, I think we filmed one but will make another
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns excellent ,, thank you. I looked all through your videos but couldn’t find one. I really appreciate your channel.
I had bad luck with the mossburg 500 I had. It was a 410, and it would not eject spent shells. Took it to a good gunsmith, and he couldn’t find anything wrong with it, and he polished it up, and it still didn eject spent shells. Its gotta be just a fluke, cause I know that model to be a reliable shotgun, but mine was a lemon unfortunately
Hello - I guess you likely sold it by now - but if not - I had similar experience; I took the extractor out and found that it could not move freely in the recess where it sits - so I placed the extractor on a sheet of emery paper - 320 grit I think and worked it back and forth several times - then I did the other side. I checked for burrs and found a tiny bump with my gun glasses - I put it back together and presto - the shells went flying. Maybe this would work for others. The parts sometimes are slightly too tightly fitted. All the best.
You are correct that Pederson designed the M10. Also, I believe there was a model 51 or something that immediately predated the 870 and wasn't in production for long.
Thank you - I'll look for a Model 51 - they're all getting so hard to find - people keep them : )
it is the best gun for shooting birds. i have them in the philippines.
Hello pittlein! So many gun people write me from your beautiful country and of course, many people from the Philippines go to the same church as I do. Anyway, if there is a more practical repeating shotgun - I haven't found it. Pump shotguns work and work and work...paalam : )
Yes sir it is a model 10
Love the videos big remington fan my self. Was wondering if you ever got the browning Bubba gun fixed up
Great Video as usual.
Thank you RG
If you had to pick just one of these for your one and only workhorse shotgun, which one of these would you pick?
I know a local gunsmith who keeps Rem 870 extractors in stock because so many made in the last 20 years break. Remington shot themselves in the foot. And no the gt did not bail them out like GM. No surprise they are MIM parts.
Hi Steve - I didn't know that; I guess there is a weak link in the 870. So far so good for all of mine. Thanks for the note.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns the newer ones with rough chambers thanks to cost cutting idiots who ruined Remington.
Newer 500s have dual slide bars
Every time I watch your videos I want too buy a firearm like 63 is not enough I guess ill have too hit the one hundred mark or more.
Hello! It's all good - most people are enjoying 2x to 10x their money on guns - inflation, scarcity and ever growing public interest make guns one of the safest things one can buy. 63 is an excellent start! 😂
The only disadvantage of the Wingmaster is that it is limited to 2&3/4 inch shells. The later magnum models take 3 inch shells and the Super magnums take all 3 sizes. Later models include the "Winchoke" screw in tubes. Sadly the 870 is no more due to the demise of Remington. Fortunately there are about 50 million of them out there. The greatest debate in the shotgun world is , which is better? the 870 or the Mossberg 500? The answer is easy, you need both. One in each hand.
I had a beautiful 870 Wingmaster 3" magnum with a 30" modified choke plain barrel. Paid $350 for it at auction. Sold it a few months later for $550 to a dedicated goose hunter. Remington has in print that it was OK to use steel shot in those barrels as long as the choke was modified or more open. I believe they also said nothing larger than #2 shot, but can't remember for sure.
The Mossbergs are not made to as tight tolerances as Wingmasters. That's probably why they always work. You can get a lot of sand, mud etc into that action before it starts to have problems.
@@davewinter2688 One of the best ever made but now I yjonk Benelli might be stealing their thunder
It seems the semis rule the day - which is fine; I've hunted with both and found little or no difference in success. Maybe I'm lucky. : )
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns I like an 1187 if I can stay in the hide and shoot ducks but if I have to carry it for upland birds the pump is much lighter and most times you don't get time for second shots so then it's the 870
The model 10 was a delicate shotgun. This was partly because John Pederson had to work around Winchester patents. This is why he used the flipper to load the shells into the action. I don't think there is anyone alive who knows how to work on them. I have my fathers pre model 10 from 1909 which period catalogs called the Remington Repeating Shotgun.
Thanks Jim - That's good info! I must have a RRS.
After Norm Macdonald you're my second favorite Canadian
Thank you Mr.Jerry160 ; high praise for sure. All the best to you.
Holy smokes! Smoked 'em! 👍
Sometimes the force is with me : )
The model 31 remington. Was so good. High standard Copied.
Mossberg Shotguns copy off high standard Shotguns. Just look at the action. Mossberg Shotguns parts are made in Mexico And Turkey Assembled in america.
My opinion remington 870 Winchester 1300 . By far are my favorite.
Another comment i forgot to add, and you alluded to it here..I despise recoil pads! I remove them when i buy an old gun, and try like crazy to replace them with an original or original type butt plate. Recoil pads are a good indicator that humanity is in decline...😊😊
I would maybe be a better shooter if I had someone applauding me! Lucky man!
Oh, and interesting video. Do you collect 410s or 20 gauge? I have a number of 410s that are fun to shoot.
Hi James - For sure the applause helps😁 I'm a very lucky man. And 20 and .410 are fantastic! I have a bunch of shotguns in those gauges and will start making small gauge videos. Thanks for the note and take care James.
@@UnitedStatesOfGuns Some small gauge videos would be awesome!
What model clay bird thrower is that, she seems to work well.😜😜😜
Hi Shawn, I think Super Model 😂
I agree 100%. You have good taste in guns and women!🤩
