I've looked at a couple of Renault 4 videos recently because I'm getting to quite like them. Then this video came up and I thought, that place looks local, then when you pulled out of the yard I realised that was where I parked my bus most days for 10 years!! Off to watch the rest of your videos now.
It's a mystery to me why people just leave a car like that behind. They command pretty high prices where I live (The Netherlands). A good one will set you back at least 5000 euros.
I've just bought a 4L here in Spain. It's 1984 and with an ITV until next July, so runs and drives well,but as with most older cars needs tidying.Although I've restored many classic cars and at the moment also have a citroen 2cv as my daily driver,I've never had a 4L and know very little about them,so I'll be following your videos with interest.
Enjoyed that Glenn, really watchable and you're a natural on screen. I'm in the market for a LHD '4' myself , Spain seems a good hunting grounds, and will simplify registration, asI have a property in the Canaries, so will be making the trip from Wales back down to the Islands, this Summer, in an R4. Had a few Classics over the years, always admired these, so should be perfect for weekend fettling and practical un the Canaries. Top work mate!
We did it Glenn. I found a beautiful 93 'Clan' in Bilbao, shipped her back to the UK for some fettling, then we set off late July, from Portsmouth to Caen, for our adventure to begin. Headed down through Le Mans, stopped in the Loir, then headed further South towards Montlucon, Mid Pyranees, Millau, Perpignan and into very hot Spain! Stops at Girona, Barcelona, Valencia, Murcia, Andalucia and Seville, she didn't miss a beat. 40 plus C temps too!! 3500 km in 2 weeks, 49 mpg and used no Oil! What a superb little vehicle and a trip I'll remember for ever! The world's a better place in a Four! Now happily settled in Lanzarote, where she is perfect for our needs. Cheers Glenn! I have managed to find two in France that will do the job, I did think about printing those and a set of other bits that are now impossible to get but considered that it might not be that cost effective. Thanks for watching!
Typically I get things from eBay, LeBoncoin in France or Der Franzose in Germany. All good sources, many of the parts for service are available from Euro Car Parts too if you can handle that.

I would say that’s astonishing condition for a Renault 4 . I’m sure they were rusting as they left the factory ! I preferred to drive the 2CV .
