    the biggest issues these films have is that they’re trying to expand the world when in reality they should be shrinking it; give us smaller, claustrophobic sets and situations, with practically effects. no green screens and unnecessary cg. let us feel for the characters and heighten the stakes that way. I’ve always wanted to see an ominous underwater scene in the same vein as jaws.

    • @thehansolo0513
      @thehansolo0513 2 года назад +8

      i completely agree with your point in that, on a smaller scale, the smaller pieces of horror should be small scale like the kitchen scene from the original film, but on a larger, more general scale, i think they shouldve expanded the world more. despite supposedly being about dinosaurs roaming the world, the main part of the movie is just another closed-in park-escape setup, and it felt like such a waste this time around.

    As a hardcore Jurassic fan, this film was pretty "rushed" and the plot failed because they were just focusing on Locusts.. plus I feel they didn't give Rexy enough credit in the film as they portrayed her to be unable to defeat the Giga all on her own. The Therizinosaurus was cool to have but it just didn't fit into the final battle scene. The only good scenes were pretty much when Dodgson was killed off by the Dilophosaurus and when the T-Rex first appeared during the early final scene to face the Giga on a 1v1.. overall the film could had been way better.. it just seemed (as you pointed out) "lazy"

      Also a youtube series made by an indie animator called Dinosauria! Both that series and Prehistoric Planet treat dinosaurs as proper animals than bloodthristy monsters, unlike JP/JW. Dinosauria focuses more on storytelling than a PP's documentary format, so I'd only consider it semi-realistic, but it's still leagues better for dino representation than the Jurassic franchise imo. Honestly, I mostly agree with you on this except for one thing-I feel like so many prehistoric creatures were shown, but not given any time. For example, the quetzalcoatlus that attacked the plane only got one brief scene, same for the pyroraptor and atrociraptor. They didn’t get enough time, and were straight up forgotten. The people didn’t come here for humans, they came for prehistoric animals. They advertised scientific accuracy, but their feathered dinosaurs didn’t even look accurate. Another rip off. Not only that, but why LOCUSTS? There are so many other animals to fill that role. What about a bunch of griffon flies? That would be awesome! I loved the dimetrodon, but it got hardly any screen time. I would’ve loved to see so many new creatures (Scutosaurus, Anomalocaris, trilobites, gorgonopsids, mammoths, wooly rhinos, smilodon, Daeodon, etc) appear, but they didn’t. I enjoyed the film, but was still disappointed.

      @@BuddSidewinder This is the first time ever that I've seen anyone say that they prefer the humans over the scary spooky dinos lol. Even the first Jurassic Park movie had human characters that were bland except for Goldbloom (pretty much cartoon characters). I hate these human stories because they are just boring clones of characters from Marvel movies, modern Godzilla/King Kong Monsterverse, and the 2010s Star Wars movies. Examples such as ruining serious moments with those awkward dad and Gen Z Rick and Morty jokes(I hate Rick and Morty so much lmao), the characters all being clean and with makeup on despite going through a post apocalyptic event, and boring acting that is just copied and pasted. I forget who the main characters are in this movie lol. I think that the little girl has Dinosaur DNA in her, but they never do anything interesting with this and all I remember about her is the fact that she let all those Dinos loose into the world and that's it. 2019 Godzilla King of the Monsters had so much potential, with the CGi monster battles being so much fun but the movie is sooooo boring because those human character stories hog 2/3 of the spotlight.

When the heroes start acting like caricatures instead of normal human adults and the dinosaurs start acting like Pokemon or something out of Marvel Universe you know there's a problem. I wanted this movie to be Dawn for the Planet of the Apes with Dinosaurs what we we got was a Sci-Fi version of Mission Impossible with Dinosaurs and giant locusts and i'm so disappointed . I feel so flat and empty at the end of this movie . The action in this movie whilst big and plentiful had least tension of any Jurassic Movie although I did like when the Dilophosaurus group killed Dodgson. The setup from the end of Fallen Kingdom felt wasted . The fact Dominion wasted Fallen Kingdom setup makes Fallen Kingdom look even worse.

But even for a "shut your brain off" movie, which is how fans of this crap insist you watch it, I was mostly bored and frustrated by how contrived it was. You have to be braindead, a toddler, or just not paying attention to anything on screen to ignore how badly written/directed/edited it is. Also bringing the original trio back for this garbage plot, and attempting to "modernize" them by having them say shit like "slid into my DM's" was cringe and way out of character... I'll always love the original, but I'm done with this franchise. Also Hollywood, stop hiring Treverrow.

Jackson computer guy, Robert the safari guy, 2 kids: one knows UNIX and is little scream queen, the other is a dino nerd and comic relief. I can’t totally see your argument for this not having enough dinosaurs. I’d be surprised if any of the other films have more dinosaurs and varied species than this film. Does the direction do them justice? Not particularly, I’d give you that one.
    And I don’t see the issue with the locust subplot, the idea of a mega corporation using genetically modified (with Cretaceous genes) locusts to destroy all agriculture that isn’t of said mega corporation is a pretty compelling sci-fi idea that neatly relates to what the Amazon’s of the world currently do. Is it as compelling as the simple fact dinosaurs are running wild across the planet? No. But considering the last two films, militarising dinosaurs and selling dinosaurs to millionaires in a big mansion, I think locusts has them beat.
    I think I’m the only person on the planet that was entertained with this film. No it isn’t amazing, and I would love if it tried to be but frankly nothing past the first film has IMO.

    I liked it but there was a bunch of errors still like many characters didn’t get that much development, rushed ending with those characters, story was just bland like again saving another dinosaur and going into a Dino area. Villain was typical and some of the acting was bad. Jokes were ok but didn’t land. The throwbacks were also ok like it was mentioned but then it was either fast or not important. For me action and many of the shots (landscapes, Dino’s, and ending) was what saved it for me. The worst part tho was them transitions like kept going from one place, to another and it wasn’t a built up and rushed. I feel like only die hard Jurassic park fans will like it but causal fans like me will watch it but be forgettable

    Cars 3 did a better conclusion than this BUG movie posing as a DINOSAUR film.
    I hated this movie so much lol. I left to go to the bathroom for like 30 minutes. I came back and like, I missed nothing. The plot is so bad that it just copped it out with BUGS. The pacing is terrible too. To the point where the end of the movie is just the most like uninteresting thing. It was so bad that near the end with the ladder scene, I hoped someone important would die and the end of the movie would be tribute to them. Its so bad and so uninteresting.

They really wasted a lot of valuable things.

    The Jurassic movies are literally my favorite franchise but as soon as Jurassic World got more movies, it went so downhill. Like I didn't even remember the people from the 2nd Jurassic World movie and had to ask my dad, I dont even know why they needed the clone stuff to be included, it was so confusing. Plus, them trying to be historically accurate is so embarrassing because its clear they just want, and I quote, "more teeth" at this point its not about dinosaurs, its just an action movie. Tbh, the only reason I liked this movie somewhat was because of the references, but even then there weren't alot. Im disappointed but not surprised.

    This is my writing a conspiracy, but it sounds like Colin Treverrow got really spicy over them kicking him off Star Wars so he decided to inflict his full wrath on Jurassic World. Locusts and Clones and stuff...who cares. I just want Dinosaurs. I was going to see this tonight but after every review has said that even the dinosaur stuff isn't that great and there's not much of it, I don't see the point of contributing to their box office. They should have just made a movie where dinosaurs found a habitat in Florida (because everything invades Florida) and now like you gotta worry about dinosaurs on your way to Starbucks.

    • @NathanDrakeTheGreat
      @NathanDrakeTheGreat 2 года назад +5

      That theory about Trevorrow makes way too much sense lol. It felt like he wrote this script as passively and carelessly as possible... It should also be noted that the co-writer did Pacific Rim: Uprising, another terrible sequel. This movie had no hope of being good with those two involved in the script.

The point is that a rex wouldn't need to go rampage in the city because it would have food where it lives.

    Jurassic World was only tolerable to me because it was like a meta cry for help. It was self aware. The movie was warning the dangers of messing with a formula that worked, now trying to sex it up. Hence why the Dinosaurs kill the Frankenstein creation. The end.
    But it inevitably, didn't stop.
    Jurassic Park has this funny ironic inability to yell cut.
    JP was the biggest blockbuster of it's time. It was a family movie, but a survival horror with themes of science commercialised and provoked thought.
    They should have left it there. But No we need a sequel. I actually love Lost World, until the last act, but it did thematically what the Original set out to do. Conservation message, the good the bad and provide both sides against survival horror... Sure it was a bit silly, but the characters made up for it Then Spielberg had a nightmare. It became a monster movie. In all senses

    I just hate how lazy it seemed. The introduction and conclusion were both just expository info dumps BOTH in the form of a News story to either catch us up or wrap things up. The latter of the two doesn’t even have a visible news anchor, so it could’ve been some random narrator for all we know.
    For four years, Dominion was marketed as being the one about the dinosaurs all over the world and that’s what being dealt with- - Within 5 minutes of the movie, we’re told people have “somewhat” assimilated with the dinosaurs, and that’s exactly where we are at the end of the movie. There is no development other than the absolute cartoon villain story of Biosyn. Why are there villains in “Jurassic”? I suppose Dennis and Ingen are pseudo villains in the first two, but why are these last three (and these last two in particular) setting so much time aside for a poorly written villain. You have dinosaurs in your movie bro, focus on dinosaurs.
    Edit: I thought there were like twelve species in Jurassic World. Besides the big boy dinos in that and Fallen Kingdom, I feel like I’ve seen so many weird ass types of dinosaurs- a lot more than twelve.
