I guess im asking randomly but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the account password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Clay Moses thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Love the toon-accurate proportions of the Fighter mode: the long forward fuselage, bulbous cockpit canopy, and shorter engine nacelles that barely stick out past the wings. The crisp paint makes me drool. The cant angle of the wings and stabilizers are subtle but sweet. And the rigidity in the middle that prevents VTOL vent drooping and forward fuselage gappage shows a huge evolution forward in this toy design.
Completely agree! This damn garbage was advertised as 21cm standing in soldier mode on every website. This version is even smaller than that crap I bought over a decade ago... that damb "masterpiece " midget toynomi figure that came in a giant book looking box. Why the hell did they give us this at 16.5 cm. This is the SMALLEST version yet. Smaller tha. The CM brand?!?!? Fuck them, they are being greedy and trying to save money by making it this TINY overpriced size. 21 cm is MUCH different than 16.5 cm..... there's just really no justification for the size and price of this garbage when you look at what 3rd party transformer companies are offering these days.
Such a great video! Your transformation video helped so much! I just got the 2024 rerelease, and it is awesome, but while they tried to fix that wing issue .....mine came off the very first time i touched it & i was so careful because i was expecting it. I can see what looks like extra glue & possible a post that might have replaced a nub, but it sheared off (probably before i opened it) and then the glued hinge itself popped out after i popped the wing back on a couple times. Feelz bad man! However they did fix the stiffness of the landing gear very perfectly.
I got the AFC-01Z pre-ordered. Hopefully they fix the issues that were in this one on it. I also really hope the pilot and cycle are not as pink as they show in the product shots.
Is there a version of the Tread/Beta that works with this version of the Legioss/Alpha, or does Sentinel have any plans to make one? I'd love to have a quality pair of mecha that link up, but have heard so many horror stories about the MP and Aoshima Alphas.
This Legois/Alpha is so awesome. I'm glad I was able to snag one at retail after missing the PO window. Nice review (I tend to focus on your written reviews but comments aren't allowed anymore). I'd love it if you could post a video or something of how exactly to get the shoulder unstuck to at least rotate 90 degrees. I've managed to get it maybe 75 degrees but it's brutal and I'm scared I'm doing something wrong.
looks really amazing, so far the best looking Legios for sure. however all the negative parts of the toy made me hesitant. (loose wing flap and super stiff arm joint) might want to wait for renewal version. Thanks a lot for super detailed review!
Looks great but why so small? Next to Macross dx chogokin Veritech it's going to look small. Oh well still better than any other legioss I guess . Still debating on getting this .
The scale shift from 1/48 fighter to 1/53 soldier mode was unexpected. The size difference next to the DX 1/48 VF-1 battroid was quite surprising at first until I did the measurements and the math.
It’s not really a scale shift. It’s not like the components change size. It’s just a side effect of the anime magic from the show. Other toys made different tradeoffs, like having giant chunks of leg sticking out the back of the fighter mode.
not sure what mode to display there all look so good hehehe.. diver and battroid are the best, the rear stabilizers in fighter mode and somewhat floppy arms is a little disappointing but overall sentinel really hit it out the park..
Is there a way to get replacement parts? The cowling over one of the intakes popped off during the *first* transformation into Soldier mode and it must've escaped into a local wormhole because I have turned my whole place upside-down looking for it. It was brand new and I am otherwise quite happy with this thing it's very frustrating to now have a glaring missing piece. Apparently the glue keeping it in place was not sufficient. I'm not even sure how it came off during the transformation -- holding this thing without breaking it is a bit of a nightmare because it's so small and has so many joints. It has all of the problems you called out in the review: the left wing keeps popping off. The ankle joints are too loose. I wish they'd found a way to allow a wider angle to allow the whole foot to lay flat on the ground plane in more extreme poses. The intake covers are tiny and so difficult to keep in place without risking losing them that I just don't use them. Extending one of the arms was very difficult. Extending one of the legs was very difficult. So the consistency of the mechanical parts across the line of bilateral symmetry seems mediocre. One of the knee joints is very stiff and it's difficult to adjust while also getting enough purchase and leverage to bend it without something else bending/breaking first. Finally, I had a problem with one of the shoulder joints (right shoulder) being too loose -- the opposite of your experience. I discovered the hollow pin in the shoulder was not completely inserted... but only after it gouged the plastic on the horizontal portion, behind the intakes, of one of the folded down wing segments. I could almost fix the joint with small needle nose pliers but the angle of the pliers wasn't quite right so it didn't go all the way back in. It almost needs a tiny crescent wrench or tiny clamp. Then it was too stiff and still has a tiny bit of the pin sticking out. I think owning this thing might require buying some watchmaker's tools! Also the "stock" on the rifle was wobbly. The glue there wasn't very good and with a little force it came out. Honestly, I kind of liked this because then I could flip it over -- the stock interferes with the rest of the arm too easily so it's nice to be able to flip it over, angle it differently relative the the rest of the rifle, or remove it depending on the desired pose. There seems to be no purpose for some attachment points on the backs of the arms -- there's nothing that really seems to fit well in them. The gun magazine fits best. The missile pod doesn't fit unless it's on one of the wing attachment adapters.. and even then it's fiddly. Otherwise this Legioss is fantastic! I've got an old Gakken and if it weren't for losing the intake cowling and that hollow pin gouging the plastic I would prefer this by far despite all of the rest -- it's so much more pose-able. It looks so much better. The color is better (though perhaps that's just the different age of the plastic compared to the Gakken). It's more accurate to the line art and show. The quality of the paint job, the paint details they incorporated, the precision of the plastic, the way the cockpit sits in the torso, ... wow! I wish they would make a larger scale version with more durable components because they are almost knocking it out of the park with this smaller scale.
Try emailing Sentinel directly and using Google Translate to compose a very simple message in Japanese with a picture of your affected part. Worst case, they ignore you or tell you licensing issues forbid them helping you... but they're a decent group of guys so there's a chance they'll be able to have someone in China mail you a part. Good luck and thanks for sharing your experience!
Mind was the same. The right intake cover ( over the sensor piece in robot more ) was loose in the box and it's never popped back into place. It's like it's a 1\32nd to small. Same problem with the wing. I also own yellow belmont (still looking for stick and rei for non stupid eBay smaller prices I mean 1200us$ bloody really??!!?? I know there's cheaper but man greed...) And have had glue issues with the front mud guard popping off because of dried\insufficient glue. Same with the round side ankle guards. Not enough\insufficient or dried to cast blue on them. Other then that great display figures. I really dig my mospeada and play with him every so often. My Legioss just sits there and look jealous because he isn't getting any love.... But he's just to fragile. I hope they fix these issues because I got the zeta Legioss on preorder. I hope they do Hoquets VR-38 Bartley ride armour to finish off the set. Also please do a tred ..... Please....
Held off on the preorder which I kinda regret now. With it being the size that it is. Even though it blows the competition out of the water owning a superposable and a masterpiece myself this is another in almost exactly the same size. An inch or so bigger and Sentinel could have carved out their own lane instead refining one that was already paved. Would love to see confirmation of a Tread. If that happens I'll gladly offload my Toynami combo.
The one problem with all the Alpha's that missile pod is not a pod. It's a combo for the missile pods concealed with in the fighter. So two pods open @ once. This is how come you never see that pod in any other part of the art. It is only a play feature that is easier vs. making the pods function, and over complicated.
That waist joint is PAINFULLY tiny. Mine broke the first time I transformed it. Hopefully, the future versions will address this, because this is a LOT of mass/weight that bottle necks into a flimsy, sliver of plastic.
Too bad it's so goddamn expensive. I will never be able to justify the cost of these things. I really hate being priced out of the hobby. In many cases, it's cheaper to get the vintage stuff. That's just wrong.
I buy expensive figures all the time, there is no justification for its price, especially at its tiny piece of shit size. 16.5cm.... really???? That's the smallest version yet.
Before your write it off entirely, the Legioss would be a tiny real world plane so 1/48 scale is actually still a pretty small toy. At 16.5 cm tall, this toy is shorter than the 1/72 Kitzconcept VF-1 (18.6 cm) in battroid. A 1/72 fully transformable Legioss would be VERY small.
The Gakken is a great toy, yes, but it's appeal is in the color schemes that the designers chose, it's playability, and the nostalgia factor. But all of that is because it's a toy from our childhood. This Riobot is more than a toy, it's an amazingly accurate representation of the line art and what we see in the animation. Its appeal is it accuracy and amazing engineering. Both are great for what they are and not really comparable. There is no reason you can't love both.
Hate to be That Guy...but it lost me at those wonky panels under the intakes and the part between the heel and toe in gerwalk aaaand the torso joint was so close to being great....then they added that huge forward pivot hinge and it just looks terrible. I'll wait for a reissue or someone else to come along and improve on the design. I want as close to line art as possible.

how this sentinel legioss compare on size with the 1/100 bandai Hi-metal - R macross? whos bigger?
I guess im asking randomly but does any of you know a trick to log back into an instagram account..?

@Clay Moses thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now.

@Clay Moses it worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account!

This should be a contender for not only transforming jet toy but overall toy of the year. The engineering is incredible.
So happy to see this in my feed today!
This toy is perfect except for its size.... it’s a bummer that they didn’t go with a 1:35 scale
That would have brought it to a similar scale as MP Autobot Transformer cars. That would have been nice.

Huh, this makes me question whether I want one of these. Never did before. Great review!
Great review as always! Love the line art comparisons 😀
Al piloto está para pintarlo y dejarlo de 10. Me encantan tus vídeos. Saludos desde Neuquén Argentina
I'm always mindblow of how incredible expensive these toys are(most or if not all of the Macross/Robotech related stuff )...
I got the AFC-01Z pre-ordered. Hopefully they fix the issues that were in this one on it. I also really hope the pilot and cycle are not as pink as they show in the product shots.

This has since been reissued with those two issues fixed!
@@ScorchedEarthToys awesome! guess now i can buy it with peace of mind haha! thank you for letting me know!
yea I bought green and blue one, pretty happy with them!
Looks great but why so small? Next to Macross dx chogokin Veritech it's going to look small. Oh well still better than any other legioss I guess . Still debating on getting this .

hi, any idea why the legioss' eyes are not yellow-colored as shown on the box?
now all we need are the invids
the most beautiful legioss ever
Does Sentinel have any customer support? My Legioss is missing the tip of its gunpod.
my wing stays put but definitely QC issues as it's a little crooked and does not fold as smoothly vs the right..

Willthey ever make the back end robot for it?
the scale is 1/48. is it anywhere near the size of dx chogokin 1/48 VFs?
Whats the full box weight with the figure inside???
Held off on the preorder which I kinda regret now. With it being the size that it is. This is even small than the toynami masterpiece.... the hell with sentinel.
Will you be getting the re-release? I'm slightly tepid...

Wish they made Invid figures already.
Has Sentinel announced a green Legioss and the dark Legioss?
I don't think so but they usually do their teases at Wonder Festival and those have been cancelled due to the pandemic.
Someone know is this toy will be reissued with a 2nd batch soon ?
Did sentinel make make a green one already?

Lol the cheapest one in europe is €270,-....
For that price I expect a large scale legioss.
so.. there is no fold up bike that can be fit inside the plane?
Negative, no fold up bikes for stowing.
Thanks!!... its awesome
Hi, can the Sentinel Riobot Legioss connect to Toynami MP Beta, how would it look like?
It doesn't work but, pics are in the article here anymoon.com/blog/?p=15508
Alpha fighter! 😁
Es el mejor que he visto
grear review, thank you!
really need a bigger size
mine don't have those QC issues, sorry for you
Yo Scorched, have you gotten any of the recent Masterpiece Transformers like MP-44 Optimus or MP-36 Megatron?
I have, but I've been way too busy... After I couldn't find time to open MP-44 I decided to stop buying Transformers... for a while at least.
perfect.
Not a fan of mospeada that much but pretty cool toy though I prefer a smaller scale so pass. If it were 1/72 I would be down
Before your write it off entirely, the Legioss would be a tiny real world plane so 1/48 scale is actually still a pretty small toy. At 16.5 cm tall, this toy is shorter than the 1/72 Kitzconcept VF-1 (18.6 cm) in battroid. A 1/72 fully transformable Legioss would be VERY small.
Mospeada collecting is too damn expensive...
blooooooooosh!!!!
The Gakken is still the best
why? The gorilla proportions or the messed up paint scheme?
Agree! I have this and still prefer the Gakken. This is a beautiful model, but at the cost of being easily held and used as a toy.
The Gakken is a great toy, yes, but it's appeal is in the color schemes that the designers chose, it's playability, and the nostalgia factor. But all of that is because it's a toy from our childhood.
