- Yes that’s right, I bought a 1988 Mercedes W124 E Class 260E to turn into a red pig tribute (AMG’s first race car).

Same here, that Christmas present screamed w124😂 and then when you hit the snow and your cardboard spinners fell off then I knew I was right when I saw that star on the rims 😂.

Best car I owned was a 1988 260E. I was 17 and started working for a local Mercedes specialist. He had the car and I paid for it by working for him for a few months. After that I kept working for him for another year and we fixed it up a bit. I learned so much from him, and a lot of that was through working on my own car. On weekends and after hours I built a full stereo system with new speakers, head unit, and ridiculously got 2 12" Kicker subwoofers in the trunk. So many memories with that car. My first love. Keep this one, forever. I regret selling mine. I have always dreamed of the day I find another. I also had a w126 1986 420SEL before that, and after an '86 Audi Coupe GT(5cyl,5spd, no abs or traction control.. so fun), a 94 SL500 (got too many tickets), a c230k coupe(RIP), and an e36 328i. None of which ever touched the reliability of my old 260E.
Man I miss my w124, was a ‘92 300E sportline sedan. Had the AMG Hammer interior, and seats. And a beautiful 3.0 inline 6 M103 under the bonnet. Still the best car I’ve ever owned. Nothing compares.

Get the AMG widebody, get the 3 piece 16/17 monoblocks, the monoblock face the same color and keep the polished/machined lip, the w124 is great, the only issue was the bio-degradable wiring harness lol

Why do people hate on old Mercs? We neew more mercedes-benz builds. They are the only cheap cars left and they deserve a chance to be cool.

pleaseeee keep the 124 stock as is since it’s sooooo clean!! just use her as a daily car and take good care of her just like its previous owners, for builds like that, in my opinion, you should get a “hooptie” so it doesn’t get ruined by mods as it’s not great to begin with

Other than the bulging hood ornament, and the exposed bumper lip, my favourite part was as soon as you hit the snow and the wheel covers instantly popped off lol

In the 90's any mechanic would tell you Bimmers were nicer to drive but Mercs were built to last and be much more reliable.

theres a really good amg replica kit for the 124. Its plastic not crappy fibreglass, and bolts on straightaway. Highly recommend it, its made by Diederichs.

My first benz in BC was a 89 W124 with a AMG kit that got imported from Japan. It looked like the "Hammer" but in white. It was so gangsta looking everyone told me it was an ex drug dealer's car and that i shouldnt drive it lol. It also only had a 2.6 in it so it wasnt fast, but man did it feel good when it cruised. You're the man living my dreams cause my end all is definitely a Porshe 911 of some sort. But with this car you need to make a Hammer replica cause you already have a EVO so why not have both?
Old Benz's are awesome, not put the Kompressor engine on the EVO 2 and buy the Kit LAmbo and you are golden.

Mercedes in the mid 1990's (1992-1997) used a biodegradable wiring harness that was designed to last just 10 years. So that means that those cars have to be completely rewired. Not a good idea to get a Mercedes...............
They aren't that bad tbh, it's basically just the engine wiring that gets very brittle over time but you need to keep in mind that those cars are still 30+years old. And this exact w124 that he has does have the good wiring still so no worries.
