I collected some 3 gallon coffee flavor containers for my waste oil, and I plan to use gearbox oil in them to heat my small shop. I bought a used diesel fuel tank, made of similar thickness steel to a propane tank, and I'll use this for my oil heater. I plan to use 4" lorry exhaust pipe for my chimney. My stove will be 16" across, and somewhere around 3-1/2- 4' tall. The roof is concrete slab as it was a generator shed before bi was allowed to use it for a shop. There's a "missing" concrete block where I'll run my chimney out.
Great Idea, I just picked up 14 of these exact drums and I was wondering how I was going to install the bulkhead fittings with no access either and you answered that for me right here. Thanks Gerry, regards Jerry 😊👍
Heck, I was going to use my three storage tanks for rain water but after seeing this video and my newly purchased 04' Diesel Guzzling F350...I've got a plan.
Hi Gerry, I've never seen rope used like that as a pipe joint sealer. Is that something that is more common with heating systems? Do you use that when you have straight threads, as opposed to a typical tapered pipe thread? That was a neat trick with getting the bulk head fitting into the hole in the side. Thanks for the video!
another good one Gerry. I want to create a fuel tank out of a 15 gal drum for my new diesel heater. this is so I can use a blend in it. like your procedure and the trick is brilliant. I'm very nervous about the 1/2 inch tank connector leaking and I understand why not to use that washer. I'd feel better if I had something on the connector to be sure I didn't get a fuel leak. would you have any suggestions? ty and keep the good videos coming. 😀 btw: where did you get that Brass Bulkhead Fitting? I've looked everywhere and can't find one with that type of nut.
Hi Gerry, are you going to admit you took the 350 out a second time to fit the rubber washer😄 I used a clear 5 litre drum over the summer to test out a burner. Seeing the level of Kerosene drop as the burner was running really helped appreciate the cost of using oil to heat the house.
You're a legend mate, no-nonsense, cheap and long-lasting build quality.
We need more people like in the world

I just the sign you got on the wall, If Grandpa can t fix it , We all screwed 😀 good one.
Hi Gerry,a bit off topic, but I was wondering if you have ever tried converting a kerosene burner/boiler to run on waste oil?

Shortage of teflon tape in Ireland?
I thought the same, but now that I've seen it done.....I HAVE to try it. Lol
Ptfe tape is actually permeable to kerosene.
Hemp and no you can't smoke it ! Great stuff and boss white ! Started my apprentice 40 odd years ago .. still using it .
