seeing your reaction to huntress, i laughed only because i had the EXACT same response when i heard it for the first time LMAO. i listened to this album at the live premiere on vylet's channel, and while every track before was exceptional, huntress hit me in a way that solidified the entire project's importance to me. it made me fully realize i was witnessing something so incredibly special. monarch of monsters is my favorite piece of art in a While, the storytelling and creativity on display is literally unbelievable. happy to see someone else as enthralled by this album as i am, even if we don't fully connect to it or understand it!! that's what art does, vylet's a master of the craft; absolutely my favorite of her works without question, which is a very high bar! wonderful video :)

The same songs break me each time I hear them (the last two just of hearing her learn to love again and be embraced in safety after so much trauma and to have someone finally listen to her and understand her trauma) god my soul shatters it reaches home. What a beautifully painful album, Vylet is wonderful and so unexplainably talented Her voice is so full of emotion, music rarely makes me cry. But this album reminds me of hope after such horrors.
I love her music so very much too. The song that got me the hardest, made me break down probably the hardest I ever have to a song (at least top five), was "I want you to be alive". No words. Just that feeling of being next to someone you love and care for in that moment.....and then suddenly no longer being next to them....because I had a sister I envision with this song. This album got me quite a bit, so much pain, so much anger and self loathing, so many feelings I deal with at times but feel unable to express, and in the end, so much hope for learning from our past, and moving on to do better and be better. It's so very powerful
Wow, I’m so glad to see more people checking out her music! Vylet has been long underrated in my opinion. All of her albums tend to be different from each other, but I think there’s something unique to be enjoyed in all of them! She’s been making stuff for quite a while. I believe she’s produced almost everything she’s made by herself, but does occasionally collab with others for vocals or stuff else like that. I do hope you look at more of her stuff, it’s all so unique :)
@@Rambleramblerambleramble ohhh I see! It’s always neat to catch another fan out in the wild then haha. But yeah, this was really breathtaking. I remember hearing in one of her streams Vylet said that when she first heard this from front to back, she was speechless. I can see why haha
The crescendo points of Wallflower really do embody in audio form exactly what the high swings of manic depression are like as an island of energy and motivation comes from amidst the chaotic miasma until discordant notes begin to creep in before dropping off back into the fog
Yeah I admit, the first time I clicked on the full album was for.., less than pure reasons…But the second time? Third? Fourth? Fifth time? Was Because I hadn’t found music with this much raw emotion in a very long time. Hearing something so terrifying and beautiful at the same time, it kept bring me back to hear it again. And each time I listen to it, it sounds even more tragic and painful than the last time. Honestly, Vylet is a genius
This was my reaction exactly, from the confusion to the horror to the concern to the crying at the end to rocking out hard… love Vylet Pony and this album is a blast I cannot stop thinking about. I highly recommend the album Carousel by her as it’s my favorite but this album is now neck and neck. I wish people knew more about this musical genius, definitely a top album. You put a lot of good words and perspective that really summed up my thoughts and feelings and brought awareness to the concern of Vylet and her power to confront trauma into music.

im glad this video showed up on my feed a lot of your reactions mirrored the same things I felt hearing this on the premiere... phenomenal album, i loved seeing your reaction to it : ) i think this is probably album of the year for me, it is phenomenal - words really do not do it justice
I read the abridged version of the story to get the general idea of the story and boy does it make some of the songs more tragic. I also pulled up the full story and went straight to "Princess Cuckoo, A Parable of Men" cause I wanted to know the context of the song. Big mistake... but does make the song more impactful. I wish I had people in my life that I could share this album with lol.
@@carrotjuice1225 how long of a read would you say it is? I’ve been thinking of checking it out but I’ve been too busy to read something lengthy lol Yeah I know the feeling 🥲
The abridged version is very short and just takes just a couple minutes to read. The whole thing is like 78 pages but has a lot of pictures (includes some gore and tasteful nudity btw) taking up space in the pages so it ends up being around 60 pages of actual reading. I also haven't found the time to actually read it all cause everytime I go to read it I just start listening to the album lol. From what I read it seems well written but the introduction is really long.

Heads up this comment is a long one! I just want to start out by saying thank you. Thank you so much for making this reaction video Budrambling. The way I found out about this album and this incredible way of writing, creating music and understanding trauma was purely by chance, I saw it in my recommended and clicked a different video before I realized what the thumbnail was. idk if you guys have this problem but sometimes when I click the back button the entire recommended changes, as if you hit refresh. I’ll be honest I was there for the art at first but then I saw the warning and then I heard the music… and my goodness was it something. I don’t remember how I felt in the moment but now after listening to the entire album back to back to back to back to back (I think I’ve listened to it 10-12 times? Which is something like 14-16 hours) I can confidently say that this album has changed my life for the better and I won’t allow myself to forget it! As someone with autism I have a hard time experiencing the joy of sharing moments like these that can sprout growth with myself and others since I am also alone a lot. Which is why I love ppl that make reaction videos, and sir I would tip my hat to you if I wore one because you hit it out of the park. I see the story here. Lots of emotion reminds me of Escapism by RIP Kenny and The thirteenth Step by A Perfect Circle. That’s right! She’s mentioned multiple times on her stream that she’s been experimenting more frequently with guitar ever since she started work on Carousel. According to her on one of her streams, she mentioned she would make up a guitar line with midi, then replace it with a real recording of her guitar. Also did it the other way around where she would make something up on her guitar, then play/record it on a different instrument like a synth or piano! She’s a real genius and never fails to impress me every time! It’s truly awesome to see what she’s managed to create recently, especially since she’s been honing her guitar skills! Can’t wait to see what she does next!
One thing - doing something else while listening to music may seem as a good idea at first, because of time effectiveness, but it makes your experience shallow and narrowed down to preconceptions/prejudice. I first listened to Monarch of Monsters whilst websurfing but i enjoyed it maybe 50%. My best experiences with music come from listening when outside on a walk or when travelling. I missed many details, especially when I was switching between different tasks when listening.
@@regrub.nitram I fully understand that, and this is a problem I face if I’m very focused on something else, but I generally find that editing is basically trivial for me at this point and doesn’t take away from the listening experience, probably just like being on a walk and giving a small amount of attention to your surroundings so you don’t get hit by a car or something LOL.
