      @@jedsteelwell2354 Hollywood and Magic Shows aren't having any trouble suspending people's disbelief and everything's been done and seen there, as well. That's just a lame excuse that enables the half-assed attitudes of today's sports entertainment "talent" that can do all the flips and winking-at-the-audience they like, but can't cut a promo to save their lives, can't sell to any believable degree to save their lives, can't have tag matches without completely removing the ref from the equation and tossing all the rules out because they aren't clever enough to figure out how to do all those flips and fancy double-team moves within the confines of same and god knows those things need to be one EVERY. SINGLE. MATCH. And do you know why? Because if they're not, they got nothing else to offer an audience.

      That was because they fed and fed to the crowd in little bites to build shit to where it really counted and got the pop (and drove ticket sales). No idea if this particularly feud had been building for long but I’m sure Dark Journey had been doing shit like this long enough without comeuppance that the fans lost their shit when she got hers.

      Dear God, they're not even close. The RKO makes the crowd pop because of the "outta nowhere" way it's done. The DDT was so over that it pretty much turned Jake from a heel to a face...and why Hulk Hogan refused to feud with Jake in 1986 and made sure the match they had didn't make it to TV. 1986...Hogan at his peak, world champ, the most popular wrestler in history, the biggest babyface there is and people were chanting "DDT!" during their match. Try sending that message again. It said I should update it or something.
      My mother's name is Barbara, but I don't think she is your aunt. If we are related, it probably goes back farther than 2 or 3 generations. I was actually born in Baton Rouge, but we are more of a Texas family. Are you a fan of Slayer? Tom Araya and his wife Sandra live in Buffalo, Texas in Leon county. Sandra's maiden name is Bounds. I think her family is from Houston.

      @@twirltalklive No there wouldn't - one of the reasons I quit watching wrestling in 2000 was because of the endorsement of men hitting women. I remember this angle - the pepper spray in Jake's eyes was to explain why he DDT'd Dark Journey - in the 80s hitting a woman was not acceptable but, because of the pepper spray, "he didn't realize that was Dark Journey" - in fact, I think Jake was "suspended" or something.

    • @D2Kprime

      david myers Because the on-screen product is hopelessly inferior.

    • @janegrey9436
      @janegrey9436 9 лет назад +3

      david myers Because Kayfabe was still alive and well - crowds were full of people who believed it was real, and hordes of people who wanted to believe it was real. Now the game's up, you can't react the same way about something that you know is 100% stage-managed and produced.

    • @defiantone8556
      @defiantone8556 9 лет назад +7

      david myers Look at the current product that IS wrestling, & you have to ask? lol

    • @D2Kprime
      @D2Kprime 9 лет назад +1

      +Jane Grey I don't know about that. We still have similar reactions to movies, plays, and TV shows we like. It's not so much that kayfabe is pointless. It's the fact that even though the fans no it's fake that quality of the product is so low they don't WANT to suspend reality and immerse themselves in the moment like we do any other form of entertainment.
      One major reason is the wrestlers and handed a script to talk, matches are too heavily choreographed, and our intelligence is insulted with this PG crap.
