Great project. I love the result. I think that the balance between nice woodwork and weeks of maintenance is key. Every year I find myself missing the best sailing because I'm refinishing the brightwork instead of putting the boat in the water.
Jeff : I think you and I think alike. The ease of maintenance on composite materials coupled with some accent teak or bright work makes a great combination that is timeless and easy to manage.
Very informative video. I like the references to your other videos detailing the materials used. Could you make the pictures of the videos clickable links?
Sorry RUclips doesn’t allow me to successfully do that across all platforms. But you can easily find the links by going to my RUclips Channel and watching the playlists. Thanks for your comment😁be sure to subscribe and spread the word
Some projects in my videos were completed long before my RUclips channel. But don’t worry there’s lots more work to do. You should definitely check out the Live Stream from the Boat Werks. Be sure to Watch the Albin 27 Playlist to take the channel to the next level. Then all your dreams will come true. Thanks again for your support
Great videos, subbed, exactly what I am looking for ,I have a 25 ft sail boat , it can with no anchor locker of any description , I am seeking to create a shelf under the foredeck with a hawse pipe to feed the locker with line , my plan was to attach two lengths of timber one each side of the internal of the hull in the forepeak , raw hull no liner , once the timber is attached to the hull cut a V section of marine ply ,place it over the timber sloping downward towards the bow so I can install a drain and thru hull , now my question how would you attach the two lengths of timber to the hull ? , also what fibre glass Matt and resin would you use to cover the marine ply and tab it up onto to hull about 4 inches all the way around ,I am not to worried about appearance as it will be out of sight , just want it strong as it will be free from any other support , and will be housing 15 mt of 8 mm chain plus 50 mt of line ,probably around 30 kg , but with the slope of the shelf the weight should be resting on the hull forward as well as shelf , thanks for your insight cheers from Australia
Welcome Aboard PanPan👍😁 thanks for the comment. See the Playlists. Unfortunately I don’t consult on projects via the comments section. patreon.com/MotorCityBoatWerks
Mark: Try a 2” x1” piece of extruded pvc trim stock which you might find at a big box store. While not exactly the same as pvc foam board in certain applications it’s a close enough substitute
I built a 9 foot that is 43 pounds. In fact I built 2 and I built an 11 foot that is 50 Pounds. I think yours is prettier but mine has an advantage for those that want to access waters by foot or without a boat ramp. I suppose mine are not dinghy's but rather row boats.
I have. But I generally choose not to, in favor of Coosa Board. Coosa Board offers a number of advantages for the DIY boat amateur builder and restorer. I talk about them in my episodes. If you compare the cost, time, and effort, even put that against weight-Coosa Board wins
I just love finding beat up things and restoring them. Great job, Sir! If i might make one little comment about your blog. When you do a transition or interruption you throw up that color thing on the screen...followed by a piercing beep. Maybe it is my age...but it jars my senses every time and i find it unnerving. Please don't do that.
Hey Joe, I'll subscribe to your channel if you remove the annoying beep sound in the video. It really hurts my ears especially when wearing headphones. Good information though.

Very good tutorial for making rowboat. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it! Welcome aboard
I loved how you did the vídeo. Funny and caught my attention. I live in the southeast state of Brazil.
I will review your pocket cruiser. I am planning to build one.
Thanks so much Jeferson. Be sure to stay tuned as I have another interesting project in the horizon 😁
Welcome aboard Jeferson and thanks for the feedback 👍😁
LIked and Subcribed. Good info!
Thank you and welcome aboard! Be sure to check out the Albin 27 playlist to see all the unusual projects going on in the Werks
We had one of these dinks several years back with the original flotation. It sank. Nice safe useful modification
Thanks Richard, I think it will be a nice upgrade

It would have been nice to see a lot more of the work as it was being done.

Thanks for pvc foam board
👍😁
Your davit is a nice design but if you made the base with a pin to rotate you could tip the arms towards the bow and gain more height
👌
I'm looking to get a dingy boat to restore for chaap to take in my pickup so I can use it as a rower.
Great first project 😁👍
your dingy is very sharp, very smart . electric trolling motor would work?
Thanks Larry: it will be a 2hp air cooled Honda
Lightweight and reliable
LITERALLY sitting next to a wood pile! Oh my goodness!
😁
The dinghy looks great! Where did you buy the PVC board you used for the toe rail?

Ok, I’ll try that. Thanks.

Excellent!
I use corecell and divinecell for most of my projects. Great but expensive stuff. Have u used it?

@motorcityboatwerks thanks. I will look for it and specs online.
😁
Hi Joe no need to shout , we can hear you.
I know this guy is always shouting at me! 😂🤣😂
Would it be strong enough to take a sail?
Sure 😁but it’s no longer rigged to sail. It’s a dinghy row boat

Great build... but keep your face out of the camera. Focus the camera more on what you are doing and how you are doing it rather you....
