La "Flûte" de Bergman est le plus génial film-opéra jamais tourné, la scène des trois fées le plus miraculaux des trios mozartiens et ces trois dames-là, oh mon Dieu, sont juste sublimes ! Quand le génie rejoint le génie : écouter, frissoner, prier....

@TheAlmaviva I was enchanted by his film. I have it on video. The lip-sync is perfect, along with the *appearance* of being a live performance, and it allows for a much more intimate presentation with superior audio quality. (Note, all the singers are the ones in the movie.)
Kevin Branagh has made another one in his typically anachronistic but very entertaining way. My love of these pieces increases the more I hear them. I suppose that's the way it is for everyone.

@TheAlmaviva I wish so much that he had done the same thing with The Marriage of Figaro.
At first I was really dubious about how he did the intermission, letting us see all the performers backstage, but after much consideration over the years, I now think it was a really cool artistic innovation. I mean, showing Tamino and Pamina playing chess and the Queen of the Night sitting backstage smoking a cigarette right next to a sign that says "no smoking"!!
What fun!

I've had a crush on Kirsten Vaupel ever since this first came out. I mean, all three of them are hot. And notice, they hardly have any makeup on! Three good-looking ladies of the night in one production?? Unheard of!
