    A friend bought this album with his first pay check (back in the good old bad old days when ordinary people could finish school and walk into a job) and he gave me a copy on cassette tape which I played over and over while 'wearing out the turnpike' driving home from college to see my little darling. The tape wore out long ago. I am very grateful to find this copy. Impossible to pick a favourite Croce/Muehleisen song but I do have a special affection for 'Railroad Song'. Reminds me of a simpler time when it was easier to ignore the Bad and enjoy the Good.

    We all lost so much when Jim was taken from us. This beautiful music says it all. He could have been successful in any music venue. These gems are what he left for all of us who loved his music. Thank-you for sharing.

    THIS MAN REFLECTED THE DEEPEST EMOTION, PASSION AND FEELINGS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE THEN ALL YOU'RE OTHER TROUBADOURS, ONLY THROUGH DRAMATIC PERSONAL EXPERIENCES CAN A YOUNG MAN HAVE ACHIEVED SUCH A PROFOUND UNDERSTANDING OF HUMANITY AND TO KNOW THAT HE DIDN'T GET TO ENJOY WHAT HAD BROUGHT SO MUCH JOY TO ALL THOSE THAT HE DIDN'T KNOW.

    I had this album when I was in high school. It made me appreciate folk music a lot more. Jim knew how to bring out a lot of emotion in these old tunes.

    Standout song on this album is EASILY "I Remember Mary" hauntingly beautiful...

      And it's the only one on the album that's not Jim - Maury wrote this one and sings it, although without Jim's guitar contribution, it wouldn't be as incredibly beautiful as it is! Few people realize that Jim's music wasn't the only beautiful music the world lost so tragically that day. 😢 Still I am so thankful for the gift of the songs that they left and the people willing to share them!

    I've been looking for a song that my husband says is by Jim Croce. It is called Fiddler's Lady. Is anyone familiar with this song? If so, what album is it on?

    • @TheSockman95
      @TheSockman95  7 лет назад

      I've never seen that song on any of his albums before. The closest thing I can think of would be "Running Maggie" on his Facets album, and it's about a 2 minute violin solo with no lyrics. You probably already listened to Mississippi Lady from this video, so other than that I can't really think of anything else from his songs.

      Yes, it's his wife, Ingrid Croce, who I believe, along with his son, has opened a cafe/museum dedicated to Jim's memory somewhere in Texas.

      This was Jim's early folk music days when he was duetting with Ingrid, his wife. He also had his rocker days - honed his guitar skills and eventually, with Maury Muehleisen, created the mature masterpieces - 'Operator', 'These Dreams' and many others . . .
