Everyone used to say to me this movie sucked because nothing hardly happend. When in reality its a film thats very moving with great performances while keeping you on the edge of your seat.
We all want something in return, no matter what it is, no matter how small and insignificant it might be. If you give your dog canned dog food or your cat canned cat food, you want to listen to them eat it for your listening pleasure. If you help someone out, you want to see how it changes how they are, even if it's just the look on their face or the sound of their voice.
The thing about this confession is that this is the story of many people. A lot of people are like this and stu was just one of many to be picked to be pressured into confessing this
yeah but stu's case was at worse level than most of those people. enough to drive a man with a remington 700 sniper rifle to confront him and give him a chance to change his ways. or stu will suffer the consequences of the gunman's previous targets
The performances in this movie are so natural and real. Ironically I think the caller stands out as being a bit cartoonish in comparison, but that kinda works, he almost feels otherworldly, as if he's the devil or something
Colin did this monologue in one take, and got applause from the surrounding crew and extras when the director called cut. A fantastic scene! I'm a little bummed out it leaves out the all important exchange between Stu and The Caller that follows as Stu slumps back into the booth: Stu: You're not gonna let me go. The Caller: ...No. Stu: I know a thing or two about lies...and I know a thing or two about liars as well. The Caller: So why the confession? Stu, as he looks to see Kelly is still there, looking right at him: I didn't do it for you.
Yep, I'm going to be that guy and reply to an eleven month old comment 😆. It's worth noting, though, that neither Stu, Pam nor Kelly were shot. I think the confession did earn him his freedom but his convincing Stu that he was still going to kill him was part of the power dynamic. He could hang up having fulfilled the role of both killer and saviour. He's just as narcissistic as Stu. It's the reason why he risked arrest to visit Stu in the back of the ambulance. He needed him to know that he was still in control.
Same. A few years ago if you told me one of my favorite movies of all time would take place in a phone booth, I'd have told you that you were insane. And, yet, even without the context of the rest of the movie, this scene still hits so damn hard.
Same. I watch this movie A LOT, it's one of of those rare films I can put on anytime. I watched it yesterday with a friend and had to really concentrate to not cry 😂
Maybe the best scene ever filmed. Amazing actor who doesn't get credit for his craft. The most emotional scene that I have ever seen. Bought a tear to my eye and a lump in my throat.
That’s what a lot of people seem to miss these days. Joel knew how to make gritty movies that were good (Falling Down, Flatliners, this). Had WB left him alone, the 2 Batman movies he got would’ve probably been AMAZING
I am glad the man is finally getting the due he deserves. Like them or not Joel's movies have those stand out moments. I still love the amazing opening of Batman forever with 2 face and the Dr. Freeze chase in the other movie where the Bat remote kills Robins bike at the edge of the jump point atop the statue. 🍷
This monologue is so intense and heartfelt it actually makes my eyes water. It's extremely difficult to for an actor to covey emotion like that. Best scene in the film by far
